Oh my word. Sorry for the slow week on the blog everyone! Things are hopping at the new house and I have pretty much been living there lately. In fact, tonight I’ve been considering just taking a sleeping bag on up and breaking my new bedroom in a little early. The only thing holding me back is a vision of what my girls’ hair might look like for school if Kenny is left alone in charge of the morning routine. Scary. :) Here are a few pics of some recent progress with the finish work.
Getting ready to start the ceiling in the master bedroom.
Beams went up first!
And then the tongue and groove! Which I prefer to call planks. :) The whole ceiling will be painted white and the family room ceiling will be the same. They started that ceiling yesterday. Yea for progress!
Entry paneling is finished.
And everything is getting a lovely primer coat of crazy bright white. I’m still torn on what color to paint my front door and dutch door and I have to decide quick because the color determines the finish of my door hardware which we need to order soon. Leaning towards black. Or maybe a fun blue? Probably black. Maybe.
This is the wall to the left of the formal living room. That wall was closed in the beginning stages with our architect but I decided to open it up so that the hallway wouldn’t feel too long and dark. Then I added a recessed niche and had the carpenters add some 7 in. wide planks. A fun backdrop for a photo collage! I have this whole room already decorated in my head. :)
Recent pics with the primer.
Planks for the ceiling over the kitchen nook. Crown will go up soon to finish the look!
Doors have all been installed and primed.
And here is a picture of the kitchen from last week. (Decided not to put planks in between these beams).
Right now my kitchen is full of cabinets!
And they are all over the floor!
And they are going to be installed tomorrow!
Not that I’m excited or anything.
:)
xoxo, Erin
Everything is looking so good. It looks like it smells so good in there. It really is stunning Erin.
Thank you Cathy! It DOES smell so good! All that freshly cut wood… :)
It’s all looking brill:)
I think white front doors are lovely. I don’t find black doors very welcoming, that could be tho because I don’t like the colour black much at all! (All my clothes are bright colours, the only black item I have is a black skirt for church:))
When you get more time & space in your new house you’ll have to include the house progress in your Project Life albums:)
When you move into the new house will you have to move into a new ward or will you be able to stay in the one you are in now?
By the way, I love it when you update us on Facebook. I love seeing the Sunny Side Up link for that:)
Take care.
Your house is amazing. I am only in college still but you are designing my dream home. These are some of my favorite posts of your and I look forward to the progress over the summer. I love the tray ceiling in kitchen and think a black door would look fabulous with your grey exterior. I can’t wait to see what you decide!
I LOVE all the attention to detail Erin! I would go for a blue door !

Long time reader, first time commenting! It all looks so great Erin :) I look forward to reading your blog. I have a daughter one year younger than Kole and she is just beginning to line little ‘friends’ up like your daughters!

Krystal – I love the lining up of little friends! :)
Julie – I emailed you to answer your question. Thanks! So happy you think it’s looking “brill.” :)
I cannot get enough of coffered ceilings and yours are beautiful! I love all the details you are putting into your home it is going to be absolutely stunning.
Okay, having serious house envy right now! LOL Gorgeous!!
Love how it’s looking! Reminds me of when we were building our house several years ago. Have you ever seen the old movie Mr. Blandings Builds his Dream House with Cary Grant? If not, you need to find time to watch it. It’s really cute and you will totally relate to the wife. My husband had never seen it and we watched it when we were in the midst of building our house and had a lot of good laughs.
Beautiful! It’s coming together so quickly! :)
Super exciting! It is coming together so beautifully. So happy for you!
Wow! and……WOW again!! Too gorgeous for words:))

Love the new house! When you get a sec (ha ha!), could you please let me know if your new front door is a certain brand – that I could go buy? Thanks so much!
Thanks so much everyone!
Denise – thank you! The door is custom. We drew a sketch and had it made. Sorry that’s not much help!
Thank you for the info – I have basically the same taste as you – the love for white trim everywhere. We just moved into a very bland house and I need to add a lot of it everywhere! Thank you so much for the inspiration!
Hi! I LOVE LOVE LOVE the trim work in your house. It is perfection!! Can you tell me how wide the wood panels are in your cased openings? Did you have to make your walls thicker? thanks so much!
Hi! I was wondering what finish your door hardware was in. Is it black or an aged bronze? Thanks!
Hi Jill! It’s black. :)
Just stumbled upon your lovely blog!! What type of siding did you end up using for the shingles and clapboard? Do you remember the brand and color? Hope to read more of your prior posts and catch up ;)
Hi Mica! Thank you! So nice to “meet” you. :) We used Hardie Board Siding and you can find all of my paint colors (interior and exterior) here:
