My Addison turned 6 today!
She loves to pose.
Wonder why? :)
We have been celebrating for a week now.
Last weekend we took all of her friends to Build-A-Bear.
My girls were excited to say the least.
The girls chose their bears and then stuffed their bears.
They washed their bears.
And dressed and accessorized their bears.
Then they paraded around the store with their bears.
And their smurfs.
(Ellie decided to buck the trend.)
One happy birthday girl.
She must have turned and whispered to me over five times that
“this is the best birthday ever!”
I almost bought this bear for myself.
Mr. budget who saw 11 darling Kindergarteners accessorizing their bears with huge grins on their faces and said “forget the budget and let everybody get what they want.” (Addie – you have got your dad wrapped! Any pointers you can send my way would be much appreciated.)
The partying didn’t stop there.
We have been traveling and celebrating for lots of reasons.
And busy with end of school year stuff.
And knee deep in house decisions.
Appliances, cabinets, and fixtures.
Oh my.
Lots going on that I will blog about when I have time to catch my breath.
And I’m itching to organize something.
It has been a while.
Still need to write my sweet six year old’s birthday letter.
But for now I just want to say that I love my spunky little Addison so much.
Every night when we tuck Addison in bed we follow the same routine. It started several years ago with her daddy and now Addison won’t go to sleep until Kenny and I have both given her our “goodnight kiss.”
I kiss her, she wipes the kisses off, and I say “hey! you wiped off my kisses!”
Then we laugh. And I kiss her again. And she kisses me back.
And then we hug and I whisper in her ear “you make me melt.”
Addison – you make us melt every single day.
Happy Birthday beautiful girl!

I just found your blog TODAY (how did I not know it existed!) and I’ve been reading it for 3 straight hours– and it’s 3 am in Texas! Good thing my hubby is out of town and all 3 kiddos are sleeping. I’m going to be dragging in the morning but I’m addicted now! And a very happy birthday to Addison!
Happy, happy birthday to your darling Addison! It looks like the perfect party (Frances would have DIED!). My heart melted at your description of the ‘good night kisses’ – those moments will be what she remembers. Okay, and who are we kidding, the accessories, too OF COURSE. What a lucky little girl. Hope you guys are well!
Happy Birthday Addison! My 6 year old loves Build a Bear…always a big hit! I love your sweater and have to ask…where did you get?
What a happy looking birthday :) How much do you love the dress you are wearing in the picture of you as a little girl?!?! I totally want to recreate it for my daughter.
Also, you totally should have got the supermom bear :)
AWWWWW!!! Happy birthday to Addison! Thanks for sharing those little sweeties made me smile, love the dresses just darling. Mine aren’t that little any more time to pull out some photos and remember….
Lisa! You are so sweet to say that! I’m thrilled you are having fun with my blog. And as far as staying up until way too long reading blogs I have been there done that many times. Always tired the next day, but always worth it. :)
Katie Rose – I know! Isn’t that little pink shrug cute? (I’m assuming you mean the one in the first picture?) It’s from Target. We just bought it a few months ago.
Oh my gosh Erin!!! Addisons hair is getting soooo long… Is it starting to straighten out a little or is it just because it’s sooo long. She is a doll and looks just like you! Your little mini me. So cute! I love the “forget about the budget” poor Kenny! Hope you are doing well and taking a minute to breathe!
What a fun party for all those girls! I like the Super Mom bear – too cute! Happy Birthday Addison! :)
So cute! We did a Build-a-Bear party for my daughter a few years ago too. it was super fun!
Aww, Happy Birthday Addison! Hope it’s a wonderful day :)
Erin, her hair looks so much lighter in color these days! Love both the little 6-year-old poses too ;)
So sweet that Kenny said forget the budget at Build-a-Bear. That place ain’t cheap (especially with 11 kids!) so that was very cool. You can see from the pics how much the kids loved it.
Have a great day!
Happy Birthday Addison! What a fun time for her ;) !
Happy Birthday Addison! What a fun party! And what a great dad!
This post made me cry a bit with the goodnight kisses!! Awww! It sounds like a pretty rockin’ bday in my book! Good going Daddy!
Your goodnight routine made me shiver!! So absolutely darling and sweet – Happy Birthday, sweet Addison (had my baby boy been a baby girl, we would like have had an Addison, too!)
Thanks for all of the sweet birthday wishes everyone! :)
Awe! Happy Birthday Addison! She is a little doll! How sweet! What day are your girls done with school? Do the schools in California go year round or do they all get the 3 month summer? You are such a good mommy to your little girls and Kole! You have such a beautiful family! :)
That sweet girl was just born!!! I remember coming to your house and holding her. So cute. :)
Loved the Bear party and loved that Ellie did her own ‘thang’.
P.S. You are looking beautiful as ever with your sun-tanned skin.
P.S.S. Not sure about you but I am counting down to our girls trip. How long till Kole turns 3????
How fun! Addison is such a cutie. Having little girls really is a lot of fun. My hubby and I have been trying to adopt for a second time for a few years and we were just recently matched with a birthmother who is due with a baby girl in early August. This post made me smile and warmed my heart for so many reasons…happiness for your precious daughter and your beautiful family, but also selfishly, because if our adoption comes to fruition in August, we’ll get to host fun birthday parties like this someday with our little girl. I loved how you described you hubby being a softie when it comes to his daughters…I know my hubby will be the same way. :-)
Blessings!
~jennifer
Happy Happy Birthday to my special little buddy Ad! So glad you had such a fun birthday! You look so beautiful and grown up Ad, we all miss you lots! I love you! ~Josie

What a sweet girl! :) Can I just say I LOVE your blog and you! You are so funny and enjoy your blog a lot!! :)
Happy Birthday! Oh the good night routine – how sweet and special forever. Have a great weekend.
Looks like a super fun birthday!! My son turns 6 next month and he is busy planning his party :)
Such sweet comments! Thank you everyone!
Jennifer – My fingers are crossed that everything works out for you! That is such exciting news! All the best to you and your family.
“forget the budget”……what a softie. That act alone places him in the upper echelon of great fatherhood.
We have missed your fam around lately!! And I am pretty sure Katie Rose was asking about your sweater so I will just answer..either Forever 21, Banana or Limited. (Have I been reading too long??) Also…did you get my comment about Kole?? I expect a Fashion Friday entirely devoted to the young man in your home:)
HA! Always fun hearing from you Kathleen! :) Katie – you meant MY sweater. I’m an idiot. Good thing I have my friend Kathleen covering me. She knows the correct answer too — my sweater is from Forever 21. Of course. :) Guess I owe you a Fashion Friday all about my little man Kathleen. Coming soon to a blog near you…
Happy Belated to your darling “mini-me”! She’s so cute! I love that you dug up that old pic of you posing. So funny! I love it!
Happy Birthday to your little one, It looks like she had a blast at build a bear. I love that place oops my daughter loves that place :)
That is so sweet! Happy Birthday Addison. I can’t believe how similar the two of you are when you look at 6yo you!
