Happy October friends! I can’t believe it’s finally here! Best time of the year. The kids and I were absolutely giddy this morning talking about the next three months. So much to enjoy and it goes by so quickly! We’re going to have to get strategic around here. And gear up for pumpkin spice everything. :) But first I’m kicking off the month with our Happy Halloween porch!
It’s similar to last year’s porch decor. The kids and I love pulling out the same decorations year after year for each holiday.
The Happy Halloween banner and striped rug have become tradition around here, but I did end up adding the black lanterns I’ve been in love with for a while now.
They feel a tad spooky to me! That and I just love the way they pop against the white door casing. ;) They are so tall and gorgeous! I love them on my porch but might have to bring them inside at some point. Or buy more of them! New favorites for sure.

The right side of my porch I mixed up a bit this year! I’ve been searching for a cute black bench for a year now for my front porch. I love the look of this bench that’s on sale, but it’s too short for this space. (Never fails!) I haven’t found a longer bench that I like as much yet so the kids and I hauled this bench from our back yard to the front porch for now.
It’s the perfect length!
While I’m a bit obsessed with the lanterns, my 6 year old little buddy is all about our new spider web. I have to say.. this web is so much fun. It’s glittery but not messy.. my favorite kind of glittery. And so light and easy to hang! I have a small nail above this main porch window where I hang our Christmas wreath every year so I just popped the web right up! What’s a happy halloween porch without a happy glittery spider web?
As if our porch wasn’t spooky enough, I decided to get my craft on with some chalk art over the weekend. I found a picture on Pinterest to sort of copy and did my best with my white chalk marker. It was fun! I felt like a 1st grader again. Or like a 1st grade teacher again. Either way I decided there needs to be more chalk art in my life. It’s far from perfect, but my kids love it and it inspired a Sunday afternoon of kids drawing and coloring so we’ll call it a win.
Our BOO pumpkin is another fun favorite and I found this “spooky” haunted house pillow that completes the look! (When I bought this pillow the girl working at C&B told me that it is their most popular Halloween item every year and that it always sells out so fast. I left the store feeling like I had a secret sack full of gold.. ha!) ;)
Don’t pumpkins just make everything happy? How can you have a bad day when you come home to pumpkins on your porch?
Speaking of trick or treat, we need to get our costumes figured out. I promised my kids I’d dress up this year so game on!
Happy October everyone!
May your days be filled with friendly spiders and happy pumpkins and cooler days and Fall leaves.
And pumpkin spice everything.
:)

Love your Halloween porch, Erin! So cute and spooky and festive! Love those lanterns and that spider web :) xo
Thanks so much cutie! Why don’t you come and stay and see it in person? I’ll do more chalk art if you’re coming.. ha! ;) xo
Delightfully decorated front porch! Those lanterns sure are neat looking and I like all your pumpkins. Your front porch is definitely welcoming for trick or treaters. The bench side looks great too. Love the glittery, but not messy spider web and that pillow. Can see why it sells out so fast. The star of the show for me is that awesome sign. Love that you did the drawing yourself. It looks amazing to me. Adds a wonderful touch. So happy to hear getting it ready prompted some together time, too. Thanks so much for sharing and always inspiring. :)
Thank you so much sweet Jeanne! Happy October to you and your darling family! xo
Your porch looks great! My husband and I were just having a discussion about decorating for Halloween. I think he would be on board with this – fun but still stylish!
Also, I LOVE your front door and light fixtures! Would you mind sharing where you found these? We moved recently and are in the market for a new front door!
Thank you so much Beth! This is as spooky as we get around here. ;) If you click on the pictures at the bottom of my post of my outdoor lanterns it will take you right to the source! Our front door was made custom. I sketched a picture of it and my cabinet guy built it and then my painter painted it when he painted the outside of our house. Congrats on your new place! xo
I love the porch, Erin! You didn’t disappoint. Those lanterns are gorgeous. I am a lantern junkie and these are beautiful. Love your chalk board art, so talented. Such a cute touch! Your house would be my first stop on Halloween night. Can’t wait to hear what your costume is. Our daughter wants to be Little Red Riding Hood and so we are going to attempt to make our dog the grandmother…bonnet and glasses. I’m sure that will not go over well. Haha!
You are so kind Pamela! Thank you! I’m so happy you like it! Your costume ideas are DARLING! So fun and creative! Ha! I wish I could see your dog in person. You might need to e-mail me a picture of that one! :) xo
Love your front porch area! Love that big BOO pumpkin and of course your sign!
Thank you so much April! I’m so happy you like it. :) xo
It looks so great!
We have thanksgiving next week so after that I can’t wait to decorate for Halloween! !
How fun to have Thanksgiving first! It’s my favorite. After Christmas. ;) Happy holidays cutie! xo
Hi Erin! I love your front porch area! Well done! So many fun and cute items. I almost bought those black lanterns, but went with some I found at Pier 1. So far, I have only put a few pumpkins out. Have a fabulous day!
Thanks so much Shari! I haven’t been to Pier 1 forever! I bet they have really cute Halloween stuff right now. Love that you found lanterns too! xo
Those black lanterns are perfect on your porch Erin! Think I need them in my life ;) I’m sure Kole was thrilled to see the spider web…momma is getting a bit eery! lol! The part about how you pull out the same decor every year melted my heart…I love that and your kids will always remember it! Can’t wait to see what else you do in your home for the holidays this season!
xoxo
Thanks so much cutie! We are already getting giddy about Christmas decor around here! LOVE Fall but honestly the thought of pulling out Christmas makes me so excited I can hardly talk! Dying to see what you do for the holidays too! Which home are you spending them in!? xo
Erin!! This is so perfect and I’m in love with those lanterns too😍 I have one of the white ones but definitely need a set of the black ones as well!! Your kiddos are so luck to have you❤️
Thanks so much Bree! Oh love the white ones too! Such beautiful lanterns. I feel especially cool having them now that I know you do too. ;) xo
Ooooh, I just love those lanterns! Love the combination of black, white, orange on your porch! So I thought too that you could have your carpenter build you a black bench for your porch and that would be a permanent furniture there that would look super cool! The real pumpkins are great and I wish I could go back to that. When I had real pumpkins it just became a temptation for the local teenagers to go to our neighborhood and smash them up all over the street. After that, I vowed not to buy real pumpkins again so they can’t make any more mess. You did a great job on the chalk art too! I love doing that and it doesn’t look as easy as I thought. I made one for our kitchen that started out as a menu board for our relative visiting us for a week, then it became art that continually displays a couple of Bible verses (front & back) to start off our morning on the truth.
Thank you so much Debbie! I have thought of having a custom bench built! Hoping I can find a black one at some point that is long enough, but if I don’t I’ll probably do that. So sad to hear about your pumpkins getting smashed. Not fair when certain people ruin it for others. Enjoy your Fall cutie! xo
Love your porch (and house) Erin! Beautiful and so fun for Halloween! Those lanterns are beyond ahhh-mazing…I have been eyeing them for a bit as well! Can you please share what two sizes you bought of them, since PB has 4 sizes? Thank you!!!
Thank you! Oh my word Leah.. LOVE them. They are even better in person! I have 2 large and 1 small. (so the middle 2 sizes) :) xo
Super cute Erin!! Love the spider web and the blank and white striped doormat and…well, everything! Happy October!
Thanks so much sweet Jennifer! I hope you are enjoying your weekend! xo
One word – adorable!
Thanks Amy! :) xo
