I hope you all had a nice weekend! I’m so excited to share a fun backyard update with you all today!
Ok.. let’s start at the beginning of this before and after..
Soon after we moved into our house we furnished the main outdoor area, around the pool and then bought a table and chairs for outdoor dining.
I knew I eventually wanted to also furnish this spot on our back porch but I wanted to mix it up and do something a little different here so I decided to wait. I originally envisioned a swing that would hang from the porch ceiling, but because of the position of our kitchen bay window, our outdoor lights and the porch pillars a swing wasn’t really in the cards. My plants died and I gave these two chairs to a friend and this space was forgotten about and sat empty for the past 5 years.
Which was fine! We have used the space in other ways and it has been a perfect spot for long tables to hold food for parties when we entertain.
But last year we especially entertained a lot and during hot summer days I kept thinking about how nice it would be to have more seating in the shade! I recently shared our new front porch rocking chairs from POLYWOOD and mentioned the happy dance I did when they reached out to me. I knew the second I got the e-mail I could finally furnish the empty spot on our back porch!
{BEFORE}
I had a good idea of how I wanted to use this space, but if you have a spot in your yard and don’t know the best way to use it POLYWOOD has an outdoor furniture quiz that is so helpful! You just measure your space and answer some questions about it and how you want to use it and they will recommend furniture sets they have that will work well. Especially helpful for those odd shaped spots in your yard you aren’t sure what to do with!
I love a good before and after! Above is our space “before” and this is what our back porch looks like now..
{AFTER}
So fun right!? I love it so much I go outside just to look at it! Ha. :) I chose the Vineyard 5-Piece Deep Seating Set with Slate Grey furniture and Natural (white) cushions and I’m so happy with my choice!
It comes in lots of other fun color options too. It’s just the right size for this space and the seats are so comfortable! It’s also durable and I can tell this set will be easy to keep looking nice because the cushions and furniture are so easy to wipe off and keep clean. We have bird poop issues and this has already passed the test. ;)
I bought the same rug I recently put in our outdoor entertaining area right off of our kitchen nook. Then I shopped my house for a few fun accessories!
Of course hydrangeas are always a good thing in the summertime. :)
I love the little side table that came with this set. Perfect to hold your drink on a hot day!
Kenny and I love coming out here in the evenings and sitting in this spot while our kids swim or jump on the trampoline. Our other outdoor area seating faces a fireplace instead of the backyard so this has become our new favorite summer spot to relax and watch the kids.
Caught a cute moment between my boys when they were hanging out on the furniture last week. :)
It has been such a fun addition to our backyard!
I’m so happy to have this space furnished. We’ve been using it every day! Nothing like an outdoor furniture update to make spending time in the yard even more enjoyable. :)
*Huge thank you to POLYWOOD for sponsoring this post and gifting me the furniture. We couldn’t love it more!
What a fun addition to an already fabulous backyard oasis! Thanks for sharing this delightful spot!
Thank you so much Jeanne! It’s a happy spot for sure. :) xo
I love that 3 tone bongo drum shaped end piece at he left of the pictures. Can you tell us about that? Those are MY colors! Actually this whole arrangement is full of my favorite blue and white combos.
I’m so happy you like the colors I went with Sandra! Thank you! I’ll add other source info. in tomorrow’s post because I’m getting lots of emails with the same question! :)
Love your new outdoor space! I’m wondering where your throw pillows are from?
Thanks,
Stephanie
Yea! Thank you Stephanie! Happy you like it! :) I’ll add other source info. in tomorrow’s post because I’m getting lots of emails with the same question! :)
What a great furniture set for a small-ish space! The durability is a plus! Great picture of your boys and the friends too. I ordered the Polywood adirondacks a few weeks ago and I can’t until they arrive! Our old adirondacks are about 5 years old, made of wood. The paint has chipped and cracks in the wood are evident. The new ones will be maintenance free! Yay! I plan to sand down the old ones and pass it on to my mom to add to her backyard. She can have it painted in the color of her choice.
Oh you will love your new chairs Debbie! Let me know when you get them! I agree.. LOVE the low maintenance factor with this furniture. So sweet of you to sand and pass your older chairs on to your mom. Win for everyone! :) Thank you!
Hi Erin! Those blues are just stunning. The space looks super functional and super cute. :) I can imagine you just stepping out there to look at it and smile. I just repainted our office nook a beautiful grey and every time I come downstairs and see it I feel relaxed and happy…it’s the little things (like paint color!). Have a great day!!
So lovely! Could you please share where tray is from? Thank you so much!
Thank you so much Irina! I linked my tray in this post:
