Adding black to your spring decor

Spring decor (Sunny Side Up)

It’s a new week! Let’s make it a good one and kick things off with a little spring decor. Who’s ready!? I know I am. Easter eggs are out (cute egg options here!) and I am so ready for sunshine and spring! My kitchen looks clean, but don’t be deceived. I took these pics on a cloudy day while my decor closet was half way organized and there were random items up and down my hallways and flooding my entry, office and dining room. My kitchen was the ONLY clean spot in my house. Just wanted to keep it real. Organized closet is hopefully coming soon. :) (On an unrelated side note.. how cute are these jeans!? An early birthday splurge. They are so cute and flattering if you need a new pair!)

Let’s chat about adding black to your spring decor. I’ve been adding more black into my decor this past year and I have to say that I am LOVING it. Have you ever noticed how black just sort of grounds your space? It makes a statement and adds some depth and drama to any room. It’s so easy to bring a little black into your decorating if you haven’t already and want to start! Accessories are a great way to slowly add black and see how it changes the look and feel of your space. These are 4 black kitchen trays I’m loving that you’ll see popping up in my spring decorating this year. They are perfect for decor and serving food if you are entertaining!

This drifter board is so cool. It has some color variation (a charred look) and isn’t completely flat. You can still set items on it but it has just enough movement to give it texture. It would be great in the kitchen but also on a coffee, entry, or dining table. You can never go wrong with a good lazy susan! I use my marble lazy susan every day so I’m excited to have a black option too!

The rectangle boards are my favorite. I bought the large board in my hometown at a fun decor store so I linked similar options. I love the size but it always felt a little too big for my kitchen island so I ordered this tondo board that is just a little shorter and wider and it’s perfect!

Just the right size to hold a fun little spring arrangement. :)

I moved my tulips over from the dining room table and added this fun serving basket with lemons. LOVE a bowl of lemons this time of year! That pop of yellow just makes everything happy.

Also how cute is this little marble bunny!? He would look great on top of a stack of books styled on a shelf too. There are some things in life I just can’t pass up. A spring bowl of lemons and a marble bunny would definitely make that list. :)  (Here are some other fun bunny options I’ve seen popping up in stores!)

This is the same arrangement styled on the round drifter board.

And here it is on the tondo lazy susan. Just wanted to share a few fun options!

Add some black to your decor with all the fun spring colors this year!

Or don’t. :) Do whatever you want in your house. That’s the best part about decorating isn’t it!? Life can be heavy but decorating is FUN. Style your house in a way that makes you happy.

But adding some black, a bowl full of lemons and a mini marble bunny can’t hurt.

;)

  1. Hi Erin! Your outfit is adorable :) And the hints of spring are so fun! I agree about black. I am glad it is showing up more often in decor, furnishings, paint, etc. as it makes the bright white and colors pop! Have a great Tuesday!

  2. Erin,
GREAT Spring post! I just finished “LOOKING” at some stone bunnies! OH, my goodness, I just LOVE your fat little white bunny!
Erin, I JUST got THIS post. 8:30 AM East Coast so it is very early in Ca. You are either just going to bed for a couple ZZZZzzzzz’s OR you are up REALLY early! 5:30AM!
Knowing you, you are just sneaking in a coupe ZZZZZzzs B4 the crazy times! Been there done THAT.! NOW onto taking Valentines Day down and bringing on the Easter-Spring stuff! CAN’T WAIT for the decor closet reveal! Now, do please be careful with “my vase” ;-D

    1. Ha! I have my blog post emails set to go out at 5:30 am on the west coast. I usually finish them LATE the night before. Definitely not up that early! :) Hope you’re having a good week! xo

  3. I’ve also added black to my home this past year and it started with sculptural decors from H&M, then to candles from Anthropologie, and last was the Christmas village houses from Target with your recommendations. I also had B&W pillow covers already so that was a great combination. Now that spring is just around the corner, and Easter too, I’ve been trying to figure out how to leave up my black decors and still add pops of pastels around the house. I do find that black makes the space feel warmer, moodier, classier and more of an adult-like space. I don’t know why we didn’t use it before. Shawna from The House of Silver Lining is really who inspired me to go this route since she’s been on this path before it even became “in”. The combination of black with neutral colors just makes things look so classy.

    1. Shauna is a close friend of mine! And I agree – black adds so much warmth. It was actually on trend years ago too! I remember decking my previous house with black accents 15 years ago. Fun to see the dark, moody look swing back around. That’s what happens when you’re old! You get to see everything come back in style again. Ha. ;) Have the best day Debbie! xo

      1. It was on trend 15 years ago? No wonder I missed out on it because I wasn’t even married then or even had a house to call my own. However I do remember furnishing my apartment in CO with that black glass top dining table and black matching chairs, black entertainment center, and black headboard with gold trim. It was a different feel to me back then, sort of like disco era meets modern. 😁
