Anyone else out there drag their feet about putting Christmas trees away? Just me? I can live with that. :) I NEVER get excited about putting away my Christmas trees and not because it’s work to put them away. I mean.. I don’t love that part either, but the main reason I dread taking them down is because I just love having the lights up as long as possible! I never get tired of Christmas tree lights. Especially when it’s still winter and gets dark outside so early in the evening.
Years ago when I was sad to take my porch trees down I decided I just wouldn’t. Trees are winter and it’s still winter! I turned my Christmas porch into a Valentine’s Day porch (trees included) and loved it and have never looked back. Good-bye Christmas porch! You were good to us this year.

I’ve been rounding up things to use for my Valentine porch including the cute tulip wreaths I bought a couple of weeks ago.

I also bought new banners this year because the banners I have are faded/torn from using them the past few years.
For Christmas I had a beautiful holiday garden mix in this concrete round bowl planter from Amazon.
I went on a search for what might work in my planter instead and decided to try these artificial topiary balls. They come in a set of 2 and each set is separate like this until you attach them. Smart because they will be so much easier to store this way!
I love the look! I ended up only using half of one for this planter.. it just tucked down right inside.
Then I decided to put one together and see how it would look with my fluted outdoor planters. SO good! I’m going to use these in the spring! I set one on my Valentine’s Day porch and didn’t love just one on the right side. It looked best with 2 (one on each side of my door) and then I didn’t have room for my lanterns. I decided to just wait to use my artificial topiary balls in the spring because I want to use my lanterns for another couple of months, but I’m sharing them now in case you are looking for porch decor ideas! They are a beautiful no maintenance solution that will work year round.

Valentine’s Day Porch! With Christmas trees included.
I’m a happy girl. :)
I tried the pink medley tulip wreath on my front door too and loved both options!
I liked the pink and red wreath better up close but ended up choosing the pink & white tulip wreath because the white tulips worked well with the white flocked trees when I looked at my porch as a whole.
Like everyone else I make a lot of decisions each day that aren’t very fun. Which tulip wreath to use for the front door is the kind of decision I want more of in my life. Ha. ;)
I traded my gold starts for hearts and my poinsettias for pink peonies and I was set! So easy. (Thinking I’ll switch out these peonies I’m using for these cute peonies on Amazon! They are less expensive and then I can bring my PB peonies back inside.)
The best part? I get to enjoy the lights a little bit longer. :)
So many cute things are coming out for Valentine’s Day so I linked lots of favorites below! Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Your Valentine porch looks terrific, Erin. Great idea to continue to use the base of your porch design for the time being. The lights look wonderful. Yay for making a FUN decision!
Thank you Jeanne! Those kinds of decisions are always the best right? Enjoy your day! xo
Erin,
Such a very sweet ♥ Valentine porch! I had a bit of a “moment” when I noticed that you kept your plaid, layer rug at the door. I did the same thing, except in my daily eating area in the great room. The tablecloth (plaid) that I bought for Christmas (Amazon) was staring me dead in the eye, not yelling, mind you, but whispering “Christmas” as I transitioned a bit for Winter/Valentines Day from straight up Christmas.
Not ready to put it ALL away. Santas and stockings, ok. Time to store for next year. I was so enjoying the plaid with my collected winter dinnerware…..
Hmmmm…. Whats a “Christmas/plaid gal” to do when Christmas is over and she’s not ready to put it ALL away, yet. Well, at least till there are no more Zeros, single or teen digits!
SOOOOO….Leave it ON the table and add some ♥ heart shaped accents! Got to take a picture!
2 ways to go for ♥ Valentines Day. More pastel and Spring like (great if you are in the deep south!) with pinks, whites, florals, lace, tulle. Then there is the “I’m not putting away ALL Christmas just yet folks”. ME! And YOU! Yup STILL some RED and PLAID! AND Lights on TREES!
Thank you, Erin. You gave me “permission”! ♥ ;)
I absolutely love it Sherri! The plaid tablecloth sounds like perfection for Valentine’s Day! You know I am so with you on this.. leave it all up as long as you want! Happy post Christmas decorating with ALL the plaid and lights! ;)
I’ve been looking forward to seeing how you decorated with the tulip wreaths. They are so pretty. Can’t wait to see how you use the second one. Both are so beautiful not sure how to choose . As always, love your style!!!
Thank you so much Melissa! So sweet of you! I know.. such pretty wreaths. I need to figure out what to do with the other one inside! xo
