Saturday 6

1 – RATTAN BATS

Saturday 6 (Sunny Side Up Blog)

Rattan Bats

Happy Saturday! Just over here hanging with my rattan bats. Get it? Hanging? Bats? Sorry.. typing this past my bedtime. ;) Honestly though.. aren’t these bats fun!? I was planning on using them on my porch but they are so cute I think I’m going to have to use them inside. Either way it will be fun figuring it out this weekend and I’ll show you where they land!

2 – GHOST PRINTS

My cute ghost prints landed in our guest bedroom. I’m not really into scary Halloween but cute Halloween like these adorable ghost prints? That I can get excited about!

(I snapped these pics quick with my phone so the paint is looking off! I’ll show better pics at some point.) :)

Talk about inexpensive, easy holiday decor. You can use these cute prints so many ways! I already had these frames hanging in my guest room and to make it even easier I just used painters tape and stuck them right on the outside of the frame! Took all of 5 minutes.

You could also use one print in a frame on a nightstand or in a kitchen next to the salt and pepper or on a shelf in the living room. They would look cute anywhere!

If you’re just using one or two the hard part will be choosing which print to use. They are all pretty adorable and I love the fall colors they bring into the room!

Kole spends a lot of time in this bedroom because it’s close to the kitchen. He likes to read and do homework and talk to friends in this space so I thought it would be fun to decorate it for fall/Halloween this year for him and any guests we have. Since he’s my only child home at the moment he’s getting LOTS of attention from mom.

I know he just loves it. ;)

Ghost Wall Art, Gold Frames Pumpkin Lights/Comforter Bedding Set

This white bedding is the same bedding we put in El’s apartment bedroom. It has been perfect for summer but I’m thinking I’ll switch it out for the holidays and add some new lamps! More to come in this space.

3 – GLASS PUMPKINS

Along with bats and ghost prints these pumpkins are making a fun appearance for fall! Such a great price and they are so pretty!

4 – FALL LIGHTS

Pumpkin Lights/String Lights

I decided to try adding some lights inside and tried both my pumpkin lights and my favorite string lights I use during the holidays.

Love the string lights inside them too. Perfect for when it starts getting darker earlier. Nothing like cozy holiday lights!

5 – 27 YEARS

Saturday 6 (Sunny Side Up Blog)

Kenny and I are celebrating 27 years of marriage this weekend! He took me to a nice dinner and they printed this on our menu.. so sweet! I saved it for a keepsake. :)

Saturday 6 (Sunny Side Up Blog)

We at outside and it was such a beautiful night.

date-night (Sunny Side Up)

This pic was from a couple of months ago. My best friend and forever dinner date. :) Feeling pretty lucky that I get to do life with him. Now that our kids are getting older and moving out I’m especially grateful that we have always prioritized our marriage. It’s not easy with kids right!? Life is so busy and it takes work to stay connected. I don’t have all the answers, but what I have learned over the past 27 years (for us) is that it isn’t about the big trips or even the weekend dates but more about the little things every day. Phone calls and text messages and laughing together and a quick walk or a Costco run or a late night movie with just the two of us. Time to connect as a couple even if it’s just 15 minutes a day. It makes a difference! Something else I’ve found.. you know that advice about never going to bed mad? I think it’s horrible advice. Ha. We’ve found that if we’re feeling irritated with each other most of the time it’s just because we are so burned out and tired! If we just head to bed and talk the next morning suddenly things don’t seem so bad. Crazy what a good nights sleep can do. So there you go! Some marriage advice you didn’t ask for from someone who isn’t an expert. ;) Cheers to 27 years!

6 – MCGEE HOLIDAY ARRIVALS

Ok.. I know we JUST started talking fall and it’s way too early to talk Christmas (for some of you.. for me it’s NEVER too early) ;) but I have to share that Mcgee & Co came out with their holiday collection and ahhh! It’s so good! Her items sell fast so I rounded up some favorites below if you like to plan ahead!

Of course you know I’m obsessed with this Christmas tree and have two of them! The gold beads and bells are also long time favorites and everything else is sitting in my on-line cart. :)

That wraps up this week’s Saturday 6! Have the best weekend! I’m so excited to watch football. We’re in the middle of a heat wave but you better believe I’ll still be making taco soup and hanging my bats. ;)

  1. SO many fun finds! Those bats are great. Have fun decorating. Congratulations on 27 years! In this day and age, quite the achievement. It was 28 years for us and I think your advice is pretty spot on. I’m happy for you two to have found each other and committed to the life you built. I hope your girls are settling in to school life well and Kole is enjoying his first year of high school. Have a fabulous weekend!

    1. Thank you so much Jeanne! I love that we’ve both been married around the same number of years! So happy for you as well. You have a beautiful family and are one of the kindest souls I know. Definitely doing something right at your house. :) Enjoy your weekend! xo

  2. ♥♥♥Happy Anniversary!
I have 10 Anniversary years on you! It goes by fast, right? That menu is so cute! only in Ca! Maybe frame it? Just so adorable. Love the little ghost prints. “Cute” Halloween is my thing too! One year I went “spooky” for my son but never, ever again. Well, I guess never say never……
IF I get a boy grandbaby this time and he gets into it……Hmmmmmm… who knows…..my aversion to all things too spooky might just fly right out the window with “grandmother pride in “little boy delight”! :-)
    BTW great Anniversary Pic!

    1. Sherri! 37 years!? That’s amazing! And I totally agree.. if you have a little boy who loves all things spooky you have no choice! Haunted house it is and I will absolutely do the same. :) I hope you’re having a good weekend! Is it cooling off there? We are in the middle of a heat wave.. so hot! xo

  3. PS!
Almost forgot! Yes, AGREE! “Never go to bed mad” is simply just bad advice! Everyone tries it for a while (I’m sure you did too) Continuing an argument late into the night in order to comply with that advice is just BAD. When you are tired, all sense of reason is lost and things usually go from bad to worse.
As my mom used to say “everything looks so different in the morning”. SO, SO true and even dealing with teens or young adults. Mom, if you can hear this now, YOU were SO, so right! SOMETIMES even giving things a break for as long as 48 hours (or even longer) is best…………………

    1. Your mom is a genius and it’s SO true! We always just say “let’s talk about it tomorrow” and then we usually wake up and both apologize and move on.. ha! The secret is in more sleep. ;)

  4. Happy 27th! Good marriage advice. I can’t tell you how many times I went to bed angry. We’ll be married 45 yrs in November, and they said it wouldn’t last. Fooled them. Ha! We are best friends forever ;-) P.S. your kids are adorable.

    1. Oh thank you so much Penny! Right!? Never go to bed mad!? Whoever said that must not have actually been married.. ha! ;) I’m so happy for you! 45 years is legit! The best when you get to do life with your person. :) Hope you’re having a happy fall! xo

  5. Happy anniversary!!! We celebrated our 27th anniversary yesterday 😀 We did Chinese food. So cool of the restaurant to print that on your menu! My grandparents gave me that advice about never going to bed mad at each other. lol

    1. Ha ha.. definitely advice that has been around for a while! I hope you had the best anniversary Shari! Love that we celebrate the same amount of years the same week! Chinese food sounds perfect. :) Thank you! xo

  6. Yes! Loved the marriage advice. Late at night when you’re tired is the WORST time to try to talk things out. Sometimes all you need is a little time and a little sleep to have the right mindset to talk about whatever’s going on. The key is to just make sure you actually have that conversation and don’t let it fester forever.
Love the Saturday 6 by the way! Look forward to it each weekend.

    1. Right!? I totally agree Rebecca! Conversation is a must.. it just usually goes a lot smoother after a good night’s sleep! Thank you for your sweet words about my Saturday 6 posts! So sweet of you.. that made my day. :)
