Well. We certainly can’t do a fashion post on back to school clothes for my girls and leave this little one out now can we? :) In my last post I shared what my girls are wearing back to school and I mentioned in that post that shopping with those two isn’t quite the picnic it used to be! They are good shoppers, but are much more picky about what they like and don’t like to wear than they used to be. Finding clothes they love (and that I at least like!) and that fit well is quite a process. Makes shopping for my little man that much more enjoyable! Here’s how his back to school shopping went down…
I headed to www.nordstrom.com. Looked up boys clothes on sale sizes 4-7. Click click click click. Checkout and DONE. I ordered his whole wardrobe for next year in less than 15 minutes. Ha! Love it. Nordstroms just makes it too easy! I even ordered his shoes on-line because with Nordstroms great customer service and easy return policy I knew I could return anything that didn’t fit. Plus the free shipping! You can’t beat that. Busy moms love Nordstroms. They have such a great selection of kids’ clothes. I found some cute things that I loved and that I knew Kole would love too. Of course.. he’s pretty easy to please. :)
You all know we’re fans of Chucks at this house. We don’t like to leave our little guy out so it was time for him to own a pair of his own. How fun are these blue slip on Chucks? Perfect for crazy mornings when I don’t have the time or energy to help with shoe tying. #mostdays I also love this pair and am ordering them one size up while they are on sale.
This Zeller Print shirt is my favorite! Kole mostly lives in t-shirts, but I like to buy him a couple of nice button up shirts each year that he can wear when I want him to look a little more cleaned up. Love this color on him.
Ready for a night out with me, El and Ad.. the women in his life. ;)
So many fun shirts on sale right now for boys! Some are sold out like this Boys Will Be Boys top, but they just added a few new shirts to the sale. Love this Rockstar drum tee!
These Chuck Taylor’s are one of Kole’s favorite things I bought for him. He loves them and says “they make me run SO fast mom…” Not that I’ve ever seen him run slow.. :) They really are soft, a great fit and a great price.
Comfy shorts are a must for this boy and these navy and teal Adidas shorts were one of the first things I put in my on-line cart. This summer he’s been sleeping in his clothes again (his all time favorite thing to do) so I love shorts like this that are comfortable. Every night he takes a shower/bath and then I put him in clean clothes that he sleeps in and then wears the next day. Drives me nuts that he doesn’t like pj’s (seriously!? Do you even belong in this family!?) but I’ll admit, his whole ‘wake up and go’ mantra isn’t so bad. ;)
Heading out the door with dad! Love my boys.
This striped t-shirt was another favorite. You can probably tell I love my little man in blue. :)
Showing me how high he can jump in his new shoes. Apparently they’re magic.
Most of these pictures I took every morning during a week long writing camp last week. Writing isn’t a preferred activity for my little buddy. Which is why we’ve done it every day this summer and took a week long camp (3 hours a day) to work on writing skills. Because I’m a fun mom like that. ;) I make up for it by buying really cool Star Wars shirts that I know my little buddy will love. And popsicles. I buy lots of popsicles.
“I’m not smiling for this picture mom.”
“K Kole.. whatever you do, DON’T smile.”
Works every time. :)

Heading out the door again with dad. Both of my boys in their new kicks!
Another “fun for Kole” top with his favorite superheroes.
And while Ninja Turtles aren’t my favorite, this little boy is.. and he loves his turtles. WANTED. For being RAD. Because they’re only this age once. :)
An afternoon eating yogurt and playing in the water with Ad and her friend.
Clearly his new shirt is magic too. It helps him leap over mile high water spurts in a single bound!
Without even breaking a sweat. What a stud.
And while we’re on the subject of favorite kids’ apparel, every little boy and girl needs a pair of Natives. Oh my word.. LOVE these shoes for the summertime. Seriously love them. Comfortable, easy to slip on and off, and most importantly..
WATERPROOF!
They come in lots of colors and styles. Great for the pool, beach and every day summer running around. Loved the navy for my boy. Of course I did. You can guess what color you’ll see a lot of in his new bedroom. I also bought him a pair in gray. You can guess what other color you’ll see in his room. And one other color.. but no Natives in that one and I’ll just show you soon. ;)
{The Boss is Here/Zip Hoodie/Gray Pants/Striped tops sold out}
A few more things I picked up for when it cools off! I also bought these shorts because I loved them and this shirt because it made me laugh. And I wanted this hoodie but it sold out in his size. I’m watching for it to come back!
Just like that my boy is ready for school! First grade this year! I really can’t believe it. I can’t wait to hear about his new adventures. And all of his new friends. Just as long as they’re all friends. No girlfriends for this boy.
He’s all mine.
:)
Thank you so much to Nordstroms for sponsoring this post! And for making back to school shopping for my kiddos such a breeze. :)
Erin, has Kole grown a foot since last summer?! Oh my goodness he looks way to tall and grown up! Our kids are growing WAY to fast! I can’t believe he’s going to be in first grade! And love his “no smile” smile. So cute.
Oh my word.. I know! Time needs to slow down. :( xo
Your son is sooo cute! Looks great in all his back to school clothes. I can remember shopping with my son at that age. I had to drag him to the stores. I basically picked everything out myself. He was NOT a shopper, and to this day he still isn’t. Today is his 35th birthday! No more shopping, I just send money!!!
That is too funny Nancie! I don’t think many boys are shoppers. My husband doesn’t love it either! You are smart to send money. Everyone loves getting what they want/need. Hope he had a great birthday! 35 is a fun one. :) xo
Love this post.
Kole is adorable. What a beautiful little boy. Little boys are just the best and sure love their mama.
Have a blessed day.
Thank you Cathy! So sweet of you. I agree.. little boys are the best. :) xo
You are always so kind to reply. Thank you and blessings!
Hey Erin, I have a sneaking suspicion that Mr. Kole there is going to be fighting girls off this next year. He is just too adorable! They are going to flock to him like birds to a french fry! But, I also predict he will only have room his heart for his main girlfriend, YOU! Oh my goodness he is getting more handsome by the picture. The clothes you chose for him certainly fit the personality we’ve seen. Great job there. Don’t you just love how easy it is to buy for boys at this age? I love, love, love how all boy he is! Those waterproof shows look so cool! And good for you guys for working on those writing skills. That will really help him as the school year progresses. I’m so happy you enjoy my comments. :) They are from the heart, for sure. Hope you have an awesome day!
Thank you so much Jeanne! Oh my word I hope I can keep the girls away. I think he’s a handsome little one but of course I’m a bit biased. ;) And yes! I absolutely love shopping for him! So easy. And I love hearing from you. :) xo
I’m so glad you posted this. I only have boys, so even though I had fun reading your post on your girls’ clothes, I was hoping you would do one on what you bought for Kole. Plus, every picture you post of him just gets my heart. Such a cute kid!
Oh thank you so much much Tonia! I hope the post was helpful! Definitely couldn’t leave my little buddy out. He has my heart for sure. We are lucky moms. :) xo
Cute clothes for your cutie pie! We love Natives at our house too…just don’t get the bright idea to wash them in the dishwasher! LOL!
Oh my word Kristin! That is too funny! Ha! Thanks for the heads up. ;) xo
Erin I have loved both of these back to school posts!! Kole is looking so handsome he’s growing up so fast!! I wish this time could slow down as my son is going to 2nd grade!! eeek!!! Have a great weekend!!
Oh my so so cute! Can’t believe he’s going to be in first grade!! One of these days we are going to bump into each other in St. George :).
I’d love that Becky! :) xo
Hi Erin! I wanted to send you a private email, but the email button kept coming up blank. I noticed something in your past two blog posts that I hadn’t noticed before now. I was reading a blog awhile back & a lady that worked for Nordstrom made a comment that employees get really annoyed when people call them Nordstroms. Since they are sponsoring your last two posts, I thought I’d tell you. ;-). Truly not trying to be critical! Just wanted to share!
Love your blog!! Amy
Thanks so much for letting me know Amy! I need to change that! xo
Hi Erin! I can’t believe it neither! :-) He’s such a big boy now! That’s true that little boys are often forgotten when we speak about fashion but they can be so cute too! Happy back to school to all your little ones!
Xo
claire
Thanks Claire! Same to you and yours! :) xo
Awww…Cole is such a cutie! I like the clothes you picked out for him! I can’t decide if he looks more like dad or mom. Either way, he looks adorable and his playfulness shows through these pictures.
Thank you so much Debbie! We hear all the time that he looks like his dad. :) xo
Time really goes by fast! I can’t believe it’s back-to-school shopping time already. I have to plan a day of shopping with my kids this week. Your son look like he’s having a great time in his new clothes!
It sneaks up so quickly doesn’t it!? Happy back to school shopping! xo
