Happy Friday friends! So glad the weekend is upon us. I’m crossing my fingers I’ll have lots of time to sort and purge and categorize. Three of my favorite words! :) Aside from organizing I also have a lot of decorating on my mind. Now that Christmas is put away and things are calming down around the house I’m staring at a pretty blank slate and I’m excited to bring some decor and color into our new home. Painters were in our house during December doing touch up work and while they were here I decided to have them paint the back of my glass kitchen cabinets.
It’s hard to tell in this picture, but you can kind of see that the glass cabinets on the right side of my kitchen were all white.
I just had our painters quickly paint the back of the glass cabinet the same grey we used throughout the kitchen/family room. I have glass shelves in our formal dining room (haven’t shared that room yet) that are painted a really dark grey which is why I initially left these white. But on a whim I changed my mind. :)
Love the new house photos Erin. Have been following along for a few years now and has been so great seeing it all come together. You should be so proud :) Brooke x
So beautiful! Love the grey in the glass cabinets! Can’t wait to see your decor on the hutch, I’m sure it will be fabulous! I hope you don’t mind me asking, but would you consider sharing the dimensions of your kitchen and informal dining area? We’re looking to start drawing up plans for our next home and I think this area is the perfect size!
So much fun to think of new decor ideas on a blank slate. After taking down all of my Christmas stuff (just yesterday) I’m looking at a “blank slate” for the next few days so I can gain a clear view of what I want to do next.
I will say- colorful dishes are SO much fun but I find that I eventually grow tired of them. White and/or cream always wins out for me. I have open shelving and wanted a miss mash of wonderful vintage colorful dishes but that only lasted a couple years. Now I’m back to whites and cream and I’ll love it forever. :-)

I can’t wait to see what you do with the butler’s pantry. –Hanna Lei
I love the grey on the back of the cabinets! I can’t wait to see your formal dining room too. Enjoy your weekend:)
Love it! I would give my left arm (I’m right handed) for those deep cabinets you have!!!
Very nice! But I do have a question..while your glass doors open up to same cabinet from both sides, how do the drawers work on the bottom below? Are the side ones fake?
Looks like you’ve already got it figured out- go with a combination of the two- mostly white (your pitcher collection) with pops of blue and some natural accent pieces :)
Will look great whatever you end up doing!
Thank you so much Brooke! So sweet of you to say!
Thanks Kelly! Sure! I just need to look that up. Shoot me an e-mail and I’ll pull out our plans.
Rochelle – good question! The drawers on the ground near the nook don’t open on that side. :)
Thanks everyone! Enjoy your weekend!
Can’t wait to see what you do! And, that dining room is calling my name; I will thank you in advance for pictures of it! :-) Have a great weekend!
Erin, Love the gray in the cabinets! It’s those little details that make such a difference to me! I can’t wait to see what you do with the butler’s pantry!
LOVE your beautiful home! You did such an awesome job. We are in the finishing touches of our house and it’s time to decide paint! I would really love to know the colors you did on your walls and your kitchen island. I’m wanting a softer gray for the main wall colors and a darker gray for our bedroom. Any suggestions? Thanks so much for the inspiration!
Also the outside color of your home is exactly what we are looking for! If you don’t mind sharing details I would really appreciate it! Thanks!
Thanks again Lora! The outside of our house is “Capricorn” by Frazee but my painters darkened it just a bit so I can’t give you the exact color. But it’s really close to “Capricorn!” :)
Thank you Lora! Ah! Paint decisions are hard! Totally know exactly how you feel right now. The paint on our walls through most of our house is “Seattle” by Frazee. The island is “Chelsea Grey” by Benjamin Moore. Hope that helps! Good luck finishing up – you are almost there! :) xo
Hello love the look – -we have glass shelves and want to paint them !! Can you tell me what type of paint is best to use??
