I embrace and love things in every stage my kids go through, but if I had to pick a favorite stage – one I could lock my kids in forever – it would be age 5/6 (Kindergarten/First grade). It’s not as physically demanding as the baby/toddler stage, but they are still so little. They say adorable, hilarious things. Their curiosity and excitement for life is unmatched.
And they love their mom. :)
This boy of mine has my whole heart wrapped tightly around his little finger. He always has! I am enjoying life with him right now immensely. Don’t get me wrong. He can be a major handful. At this stage with my girls they were happily (and quietly!) playing for hours with their princesses and barbies.

(annoying my sister shirt/Adidas shorts)
Kole enjoys rough housing, ramming remote control cars into my furniture, and generally keeping his mom hopping 24/7.
Not to mention that most days it feels like his life goal is to annoy his sisters.
I guess it should be when you’re that good at it. :)
Which is why when I saw this shirt I had to have it for him. As you can see, he wears it proudly. :) I love to shop at Nordstrom for my little buddy because it’s just so easy. Get on the computer.. up pops fun, unique shirts.. click click click. DONE. I know if there are size issues I can easily return at no cost. Plus Nordstrom clothes are always great quality. Here are a few more of his favorite clothes (and mom’s!) from Nordstrom that fit his spunky 1st grade personality.
All three of my kids love Chucks/Converse shoes. I do too (I wear these weekly!) so we are a pro Converse family.
His all time favorite shoes are this pair I got him at the beginning of the school year. He has worn them so much that a few weeks ago I ordered another pair for him. He and his dad take “nature hikes” on the weekend (also known as “mom needs a break” hikes) and his first pair were looking a little rough. :)
I’ve been looking for nicer clothes for Kole to wear to church and a good friend of mine who has boys kept raving about these easy care dress shirts. I held off getting one for awhile because they are kind of pricey for my not so tidy 6 year old. :) But after trying other shirts that didn’t fit well and I had to iron, I finally caved. I took this picture of when it came in the mail so it looks a bit wrinkled, but as soon as I washed it, I could tell it was a keeper. Such a nice fit and no wrinkles! I ordered it a tad on the big side so it will last a while.
He looks so handsome in it. Even when he’s half way dressed. Ha! He’s not a huge fan of church clothes so he lives in his favorite Adidas shorts until we are ready to walk out the door. :)
I also bought him this Check Silk Zipper Tie. Moms of boys.. do you all know about these!? They are the coolest thing ever! I put it on and it zips right up to a perfect fit! So cute and comes in lots of colors.
I’m always so happy when I can get a genuine smile out of this boy for a picture. I have to snap fast because after about 20 seconds I get this..
Yup. Life with a little boy. :) A few more favorites…
(Adidas shorts I mentioned above/Talent Has Arrived/Current Mood)
When I came across this Current Mood shirt I had to have it because one thing I get the biggest kick out of is how he can be flying high one second and so upset the next. Everything with him is either the “BEST” thing ever or the absolute “WORST” thing ever. There’s no in-between. He’ll be in a great mood and tell me “mom you’re the BEST mom of my life!” And then two minutes later he’ll be having a hard time with homework and suddenly all is dark and his math is “the WORST math of his life!”
It seriously cracks me up. :)
Christmas can’t come fast enough for my little buddy and he loves to help mom decorate. He’s always my #1 assistant!
He’s so excited to put up our Christmas village he can hardly stand it! It’s always my kids’ favorite. I told him we need to wait for the weekend when I have time so I keep finding him just sitting inside the entry cupboard doors playing with everything.
It’s so precious. I love listening to the great conversations between Santa and the village people. :)
One last favorite shirt! I love him in bold bright colors. I love him in bold bright colors even more when he’s bringing in the trash. ;)
I have him convinced it’s a great race.
He can’t possibly beat his last time and go even faster this time around..
Or can he?
Somehow he always pulls it off. What a stud.
;)
Here are more of my recent favorites for boys clothes..
I have to say that while my girls get excited about clothes on Christmas morning (I shared some of their favorites here) my little buddy.. not so much. The great thing is that while I was adding a few things to his Fall/Winter wardrobe from Nordstrom this year I found some FUN Christmas gifts for him! I love that Nordstrom carries toys also. It’s a great one stop shop and more than once I’ve found myself needing a birthday gift and popping over to find something special.
Here are a few toys that I love and recommend for little ones this holiday sesason!
Thank you Nordstrom for sponsoring this post! And making shopping for my favorite little boy such a breeze.
Oh my gosh, Erin, what a delightful post! I can see why your little buddy is wrapped tightly around your finger and heart. He is a little stud-muffin! That smile! Melts my heart. I so enjoyed seeing what is in and hip for young boys. I grew up with 5 brothers and mostly I remember the rough housing and noise, and arm pit (and other) farts at night when we were supposed to be going to sleep. Our rooms were near each other. Ahhhh boys! That tie though! That is flippin’ genius. Or should I say…that’s lit! hee, hee Trash can races…you are genius, too. All around fun post and thanks so much for sharing! Happy, happy Friday. Have fun putting up your Christmas village! :)
5 brothers!? JEANNE! Oh my word! I can only imagine. I seriously don’t know if I could handle more than one! I just want to give your mom a huge hug right now! Ha! Boys are so much fun but man they are crazy. I am cracking up.. that tie is totally “lit”.. ha ha.. :) You made my day! Happy Friday cutie! xo
Hi Erin!
I am laughing as I am writing this. I could have written this exact post! :) I also have a 6 year old boy who I love to pieces! I love this age so much! He can be sweet, funny and goofy one minute and he can turn on a dime the next minute and be as grumpy as can be! … and he loves his mom! As soon as I saw the shirt your son is wearing that says, “Annoying my sister one day at a time”, I knew I had to get it for him. Our daughter is 8 and like you said, it seems as though it is his life goal to annoy her! :) I loved this post! Thanks for sharing!
Michelle
Oh I love that Michelle! We are living parallel lives with our kids.. ha! Isn’t that shirt perfect!? It really is such a fun, adorable, hilarious stage! Kole definitely drives his sisters nuts and keeps us all laughing. :) Thanks cutie! Enjoy Thanksgiving with your sweet family! xo
Little boys are the best aren’t they! You inspired me :)! I just ordered those fleece joggers for my little one. Love the blog!
Thank you so much Nicole! They really are the best. We are so lucky to have our boys! And I love those fleece joggers. :)

Thank you Pamela! Kids clothes are the best, aren’t they!? So cute and easy! A lot easier than finding clothes for me. :) Happy decorating! So much fun! xo
Which Christmas village do you like to collect?
Hi Kathy! We collect the Snow Village. My mom started collecting it years ago so it has become a favorite family tradition. :) xo
Love this post. Kole is one good looking little boy.
You are so right….little boys get into a mama’s heart in such a unique way. They sure love their mama’s like no other.
Happy weekend to you and yours!!
They sure do Cathy. :) Thank you so much and enjoy your weekend! xo
Oh my goodness, Kole is so adorable and handsome Erin! I have a feeling the girls are going to be after him before long ;) I’m loving the toddler stage with my 19 month old, but this post definitely made me excited for when he gets a little older. Seriously, so cute!
Thank you so much Julia! You are so sweet to say that! I think he’s pretty adorable, but of course mom is a bit biased. ;) And yes.. you have LOTS to look forward to! :) Happy Thanksgiving cutie! xo
