It’s a new week! How are we all feeling? I woke up yesterday in a “not in the mood for Monday” state of mind and had to work hard to turn that around. One of my go-to’s to get me out of a Monday funk (or any type of funk really) is to.. you guessed it.. organize something. :) I’m currently working on my bathroom but wanted to pop in and share some progress from the last two weeks. Every single day I organize a little something! Whether it’s a quick drawer or cupboard or just continued progress on a larger project, I always spend at least 15 minutes organizing. I’ve been sharing my small organizing wins daily on IG stories but keep forgetting to share them here on the blog too! I’ll try to be better about that going forward. (Maybe a round-up post like this every week or every two weeks?) Above is my medicine cabinet that you’ve all seen before, but it needed a quick straightening so it was my first project for the new year! (Forgot to take a “before” pic.) Below are some of my other quick organizing projects. 15 minutes a day really does add up to make a huge difference!
{BEFORE}
By the end of the year with the craziness of the holidays I always have a few hot spots that I’ve just “let go” so those were the first places I tackled. Our bowl cupboard was one of them!
{AFTER}
Looking so much better! (Aside from the fact that my shelf is seriously sagging – getting that fixed next week!). I got rid of A LOT in this cupboard. We just don’t need all of the bowls that I had been collecting. I only kept my go-to favorites and am storing a few I love and use when I entertain tucked away to the right (this cupboard goes clear back under the counter.)
{AFTER}
I forgot to snap a “before” picture of this bottom kitchen drawer that holds our water bottles and I wish I would have because I swear we had what felt like a hundred of them! So nice to toss most of them in a Goodwill bag and just keep the favorites we use daily. (Hydroflasks and Swell are our go-tos!) The small containers hold sweat towels and a band my husband uses when he runs.
{BEFORE}
I couldn’t wait to re-do this junk drawer! Talk about semi organized clutter. I was over the dividers I got years ago for this drawer from Home Goods because the busy pattern just made a busy drawer look way too.. well.. busy.
{AFTER}
Ahhh! I can breathe. SO much better right!?
*Quick tip: use a fun bowl or separate container to hold loose change!
Aside from tossing so much garbage and pairing down to just the essentials we use daily I also picked up this 6 pack expandable drawer organizer set. I love it! You can see how I’ve pulled the compartments out to be long enough to fit my drawer and make the most of the space I have. I’m so thrilled that the “busy” look is gone and replaced with something more streamlined and simple. I cleaned this drawer out in early January and am happy to report that it still looks the exact same. #win
{BEFORE}
This makeover took less than 10 minutes! I keep paper products in this drawer right by our microwave drawer and it was getting messy. Seriously WHERE do all of the crumbs come from? They seem to multiply in every kitchen drawer in my house!
{AFTER}
Yes yes and yes! So much better in no time at all!
*Sidenote.. I keep my favorite hand held Dyson close for kitchen crumbs! I also use it a lot to clean hair/debris out of bathroom drawers. We also have and love this handheld vacuum – a great less expensive alternative!
{BEFORE}
I keep our reusable grocery sacks in this drawer below our microdrawer and it was a hot mess.
{AFTER}
15 minutes and we were back in business! I divided the drawer with reusable grocery sacks on one side and garbage bags on the other. I wanted to use one of my favorite dividers to separate them but it was too small! This is a large deep drawer so I did a little research and am going to order this deep drawer divider.
For now it looks like this. :)
{BEFORE}
The cupboard I use to store our small appliances was probably the worst! I let it get so messy during the busy holiday months. I got a few new KitchenAid items and didn’t even toss the boxes because I wanted to look through the instruction manuals first so everything was just crammed inside.
{DURING}
Always feels nice to pull everything out and wipe out the cupboard!
{AFTER}
Ahh.. HUGE improvement and I am determined to keep it looking like this!
*For those of you who asked on IG stories here are a few of our favorite small appliances: the Magic Bullet Blender, an egg cooker (gave this one to my dad and he loves it), our Cuisinart Belgian Waffle Maker (this is the newest model), Panini Maker, Toastmaster Griddle (newest model).
*Quick tip.. I always use black twist ties to keep cords corralled (on items I don’t use every week) in cupboards like this. Keeps things a little more tidy!

I often get asked where we store our appliances. Aside from the cupboard I just cleaned out I also designed appliance garages when we built our house. My cabinet guy wanted them to lift and open straight up but I really wanted them to roll back into the wall. It took some tweaking but we finally figured out how to make it work and I’ve been so happy with them! There are plug outlets in the wall so I can keep my most used appliances plugged in and just use them in this spot. I pull my crockpot and blender out away from the wall when use I them, but love being able to keep these appliances here all of the time. A great feature to think about if you are building or remodeling a kitchen anytime soon!
Then everything closes and is tucked away out of sight! Nice and organized.
Just how we like it. :)
Have you tried organizing just 15 minutes a day? You’d be amazed at the difference it can make! Let me know if you like posts like this and I’ll share more if you do! You can also follow me here on IG to see what I’m tackling next. Happy organizing friends!
Aweome post, Erin! You definitely CAN get a lot done in those what seem to be so short 15 minutes! I’m working in my kitchen this week and while my first job took way more than 15 minutes, it sure felt great to get it done and off my brain. I cleaned out my freezer and the door of my fridge. Tuesday is our trash day and it was the perfect time to do it, to get the expired, freezer burned food out of the house. I’ve neglected this spot for way too long and now I know I don’t have to buy meat for a while. :) I have to say using the vacuum to suck up crumbs was a new idea to me. I honestly cannot believe I never thought to do that. What a great game changer! Thanks for the motivation on IG and here! Have a fantastic week.
Oh I bet that felt SO good to have done Jeanne! Love it! I always try to clean out our fridge before trash day too.. perfect timing! And yes.. my handheld vacuum is seriously my best friend when it comes to keeping drawers cleaned out. So handy! I’m happy that tip was helpful! Enjoy your week (and your clean freezer and fridge!). The best! :) xo
Love it! I hit organizing hard in January and I’m feeling so burnt out. Instead of picking ALL THE THINGS, I just need to pick one small area at a time and tackle that. Thanks for all of your inspiration!
It’s so easy to lose steam after the new year isn’t it!? Yes! Just focus on spending a little time each day and try to not focus on ALL that needs to be done. I get overwhelmed when I do that too! Slow and steady wins the race. ;) Thank you Monique! xo
This type of post is actually my favorite (followed by the fashion and home decor posts). I’m like you-I love to declutter and organize . It lifts my spirits! Wanted to let you know that this topic is inspirational and gives others ideas for organizing and arranging for efficiency. Thank you!
So sweet of you Stephanie! Thank you! I really appreciate your feedback and am so happy to hear you like all of the things I post about! :) xo
Yes, to all this! More quick organizing posts please :)
Yea! I’m on it Kim! Thank you! :)
Erin- what color and type of flooring is in your kitchen? My husband and I have been back and forth for months on flooring and we actually agree on yours!
Hi Elizabeth! Happy you agree on mine! Unfortunately our floors were custom, but I’m sure you could do something similar. I wrote all about our floors in this post:

OK I’m inspired! My appliance cupboard looks just like that. It will be project #1!
YEA! It’s a nice cupboard to have done! Happy organizing Amy! :)
Yes, I always love quick organizing projects that anyone can do. Thanks for sharing!
So happy you liked this Kim! Thank you! xo
I just love all your tips and sources for organizing supplies. Thank you! Would you mind sharing where your utensil holder is from? (holding the wood utensils) ❤️❤️
Thank you so much Christen! That utensil crock was from Mcgee & Co and sold out a while ago. I’ll definitely share it again if it ever comes back in stock!
Love your tip on ‘busy’ drawer inserts! That really did make a difference in your junk drawer!
Thank you Jenifer! Definitely helps to not have so much visual clutter! :)
I had my husband make custom wood drawer dividers for me and they have changed the way I think about my drawers!
Oh so nice Margo! Love that! Your husband is a keeper for sure. :)
Just curious, do you line your drawers and cabinets? We are moving to a new adult community, and I am not looking forward to lining all the kitchen and bathroom cabinetry, and linen closets. Your organizational skills are top notch! Thanks for sharing!
So sweet of you Joyce! Thank you! I actually don’t line any of my drawers or cabinets! Most of them have some type of organizer inside of it, but if not I just wipe it clean every once in a while!
Yes! More posts like this please! I’m going to try a water bottle drawer too! Thanks so much!
So happy you liked this! Thank you Amy!
Haha those towels hanging on the ovens remind of that crazy good movie “Sleeping with the Enemy” (Julia Roberts). :P
Hi Erin!! :) I am behind on reading your blog, but finally catching up and this post was so inspirational! Thank you! I love the neat features your home has such as the appliance garages. So functional! All these little projects look like great funk-busters! Thanks for sharing!!
