Bringing you my cozy kitchen window! Because it’s a Wednesday and we need the mid week pick me up. I guess I shouldn’t speak for all of us.. I need the mid week pick me up. :) So step into my snowy Christmas village and relax! It’s straight out of a Hallmark movie and I’m not one bit mad about it.
Honestly this little Christmas scene in my kitchen window has cheered me up immensely this week and it was so easy to put together! I placed 3 command hooks on my window molding (one in each corner where the cabinet starts and one in the middle behind my pendant) and then I just hung my all time favorite faux garland! I used two 6 foot strands on each side for a thicker look (so there are 4 strands total). It looks just like fresh real garland without the mess!
I hung 5 of my beautiful jeweled snowflake ornaments from the tiny nails I have on the backside of my molding and then I added my beloved birch trees and some cozy light up houses. (These exact houses sold out but I linked lots of fun options below!) Last I sprinkled faux snow – the closest thing to snow we’ll get this holiday season. Magic!
I’ll share pics of my snowy window scene during the day soon (didn’t have time to photograph it today!) but I did get a quick picture of the display below my cabinet. I wanted to extend the snowy forest/village look so I added one more little birch tree and a few other bottle brush trees and more faux snow on my antiqued metal tray.
This is the same tray I used to display candles and pumpkins on my table in October and it has honestly been one of my favorite purchases this year. It’s so long and beautiful and the styling options are endless! (I have the large size.)
I’ve been burning my favorite Christmas candle this week and it just makes 2020 blur and suddenly all is right in the world! It’s “fir and firewood” and smells just like an evergreen forest. At Christmas. In a Hallmark movie. Catch the theme I’m going for this year? ;) It’s to die for and soon my friends will be enjoying it too because I always buy extra for gifts! I snapped a pic next to the faux snow I used in my kitchen because I’ve tried lots and it’s my favorite!
{Balsam Green Pine Tree/Dining Room Sources}
In other home news the Christmas decorating is coming along! Some rooms are finished and just need to be photographed. Some rooms are 70% done and need to be pulled together with this and that. And then there are rooms like my formal dining room that are seasonally challenged. *Notice the mix of pumpkins and a tree. But I wanted to share this real time pic with you because this tree is the other flocked tree I bought this year and I absolutely love it! I haven’t even touched it yet other than initial set up so the branches still need to be fixed and fluffed, but I LOVE the look of it! (This pic doesn’t do it justice!) It’s so beautiful at night (the white lights are large and covered in flocking and so pretty). I know it’s behind my table, but I just thought it would be fun to mix it up this year and put a tree in front of our dining room window. We won’t be hosting large parties this year like we usually do (for obvious reasons!) so I moved my dining room bench and set up my tree there instead! It looks so pretty from the outside!
{Flocked Long Needle Green Pine Tree}
This is the other new tree I bought (so you can compare the two different looks). It’s decorated and I’ll be sharing it soon! I was worried buying two new trees online this year without seeing them first but I love them. Really great quality and exactly what I was looking for. I would absolutely recommend either tree if you are looking for a new faux flocked tree this year! Really happy with them both. :)
cable turtleneck sweater / ombre glass ornaments / glass ball ornaments / mercury glass star topper
wool wrap coat /pom ankle socks / lace ruffle sheath dress / kids laced dress / cable knit tree skirt
greenery wreath / faux fur accent pillow /faux fur throw / lounge hoodie / faux fur pompom throw
Last but not least here are a few RP favorites that were released today! I honestly wanted to order every single thing in this collage! Except the red dress because I don’t look good in red. But it’s gorgeous for someone who does! That green sweater on the other hand has my name all over it. ;) I also ordered the wool wrap coat (I’ll let you know if I love it!) and several of the home decor items and will share how I’m using them soon. I just can’t resist cute Christmas decor! Or green sweaters.
I can think of worse things.
Happy Wednesday everyone! From my Hallmark movie scene to yours.
:)
Oh I can see why you love that scene in your kitchen window. It’s gorgeous. Oh I used to want a bay window in my house. Never happened, but this is a beautiful reason why I wanted one! What a beautifully relaxing scene this is. Thank you so much for sharing it. Your trees are just beautiful, too. So happy you are finding lots of joy in decorating your home. You do it so well! Have a wonderful week.
Thank you so much Jeanne! Bay windows are fun aren’t they!? I dreamed about having one for a long time before we built this house! But this little set up would be so cute on a buffet table or console too! Lots of possibilities for cozy. :) Thanks again and enjoy the rest of you week! xo
Just lovely!
Thank you Kathy! I hope you’re having a good week!
This is stunning! I love nothing more than holiday decorating, and our styles are so similar. Somebody’s HAS to explain to me, though, why people decorate for Christmas before Thanksgiving even happens?!?!? We’ve lived all over the world, and I’ve never seen this until we moved here to TX. It’s quite common to see people working on their displays on the afternoon of Thanksgiving or even on Black Friday, but early November just seems crazy to be. I guess I love the fall and want to enjoy pumpkin pie looking at actual pumpkins! :)
Love your blog!
Thank you so much Wendy! I’m so happy you like the window display! I’m a firm believer that you should do whatever makes you happy! Whether that’s decorating early or waiting until after the turkey is put away. I know that I’ve always decorated early because Christmas decor is my absolute favorite and I just want to enjoy it LONGER! I wish we had Christmas decor up for 4-5 months honestly! It’s a lot of work to get everything decorated so I just want to have it up and enjoy it as long as I can. I also decorate early because as a blogger I’m sharing decorating ideas and fun decor options to give people ideas. I try to get things up and done before most to be a resource for people when they are ready to decorate. But I think a lot of people are especially decorating early this year because we are all spending so much time at home. Everyone want to enjoy the twinkle lights and cozy decor a little longer after such a stressful year! xo
Amen! xo
I wanted to jump back on here to mention 2 things. First, I shouldn’t post comments early in the morning without my reading glasses and my cup of coffee! Mama Mia did I have typos & auto-correct issues or what?!? :)
Secondly, the same day I asked about early decorating, there was a whole article about stars who start on November 1st every year-pandemic or not. You’re ALL onto something here! Blessings for a beautiful holiday season, Erin.
Wendy I didn’t even notice your typos! I’m sure my blog is full of them.. ha. And yea for early decorating! I’m telling you.. nothing better. ;) Enjoy the season too sweet friend! xo
Wow your christmas window scene is just breathtaking Erin! Love what you did! :) You always give me such fun ideas!
Thank you so much Lisa! I’m so happy you like it! xo
That window is sooooo beautiful!!! Love it. I wish I could sit on a bench outside one of those houses. Ha Ha
Thank you so much Noreen! I’m so happy you love it! And I know how you feel.. I just want to step right into this happy Hallmark scene and never leave.. ha! :)
OHMYGOSH Erin! I did not even finish reading the entire blog post. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the kitchen window/little village!!!
I LOVE to do things like that. I used to have a Bow(Bay) window, depending WHAT it is called in your location, that I always decorated for the seasons. No longer have one in either place, so have to make do w/mantles, sideboards, dresser tops, etc.
My Christmas houses are from the “Snow Village” collection. Many were gifts when I was teaching. I do not mind saying that I actually like YOURS BETTER! ;-D
BTW, I did look at the product section, already, and just wanted to say that I got the white wrap coat last year from Nords.
Yours, however, is UPDATED. Mine does not have the xtra wide collar. Mine is exact, but has a “hood collar”.
Keep decorating!
Sharon/New England
Sharon! Oh your comment made me so happy! Grinning from ear to ear! I’m so thrilled you like it all. YEA! And yes! This look would also be so fun on a console table or sideboard! I have the Snow Village too! My mom collected it and gave a lot of the pieces to me and siblings and then we’ve bought a few over the years. It reminds me of my childhood! We always set it up on a table in our upstairs hallway by the kids rooms. These three houses were just some random wooden houses I bought a couple of years ago and I wish I would have bought more! I also wish they had timers on them like my trees do so I didn’t have to climb on the counter to turn them on.. ha. ;) So fun you have last year’s wrap coat! I need a dressier coat and am so excited to try it! I hope you’re having a good November so far Sharon.. loved hearing from you! xo
Gorgeous window display! What store did you get the wooden houses from?
Thank you Jill! I’m so happy you like it! The houses were from Nordstrom last year. I looked for 45 minutes trying to find them somewhere else because I’ve had so many questions about them but I can’t find them anywhere!
Erin!!!! Love it!
What size trees did you use in your window scene?
Thanks!!!!
Donna
Thank you so much Donna! These birch trees are the medium and the small! The large size is HUGE! 3 feet I think!? They would be cute on a front porch or fireplace mantel. I love the small and medium size for most tables and this window display. :)
Absolutely STUNNING window display! I know you said the houses are sold out, but what brand(s) are they / where are they from? Thank you for sharing!
Thank you so much! They were from Nordstrom last year.. I’m not sure the brand. I looked for 45 minutes on-line to see if they were sold anywhere else and came up with nothing!
I love the new trees! Did you toss out your old tree that was in your formal living room and the one you usually put in your dining room?
Thanks Debbie! No.. I will use them in other rooms or during other years. :)
Erin, I just can’t stop looking at your window – it is my favorite of all you’ve ever done – so beautiful!! And yes – I needed it early this year – it made me feel better just looking at it!!! Of course, I really do love everything that you do – but this ….. oh my! I also love the tree in the dining room with the pumpkins on the table – somehow it just works :) Your blogs are such a treat – your enthusiasm is a joy to watch – thanks so much for sharing and truly “making my day”!! Looking forward to seeing it all finished. But I’ve already been overloading on Christmas between Hallmark and Lifetime Christmas movies. This year especially I need the “happy endings”!
Patty your sweet comment just made my day! YEA! I’m thrilled you like it so much.. thank you! It means so much to me that my blog makes you happy.. truly! And we have been heavy on the Hallmark over here too.. ha! My mom and I have been texting our favorites back and forth. Nothing like a predictable happy ending. I agree.. especially comforting in 2020! Thanks again for your sweet words and for making me smile! :) xo
It’s so darling, Erin!!! Like Christmas in Heaven! Just beautiful. Nothing makes a sink full of dishes more enjoyable! :)
Ha ha.. Christmas in heaven! Minus the dishes. ;) I’m so happy you like it Genelle.. thank you! xo
Absolutely beautiful! I have a garden window as well I may need to use this for some inspiration :) What lights the houses? Are they electrical, candles, batteries?
Thank you Christina! They all have batteries! I have them set on a timer so they all click on around 5:00. :)
Beautiful decor. What size birch trees do you use?
Thank you Laura! The medium and small sizes. :)
Love your window….but love your sink also. Where did you purchase it?
Thanks!
Thanks Kathy! It’s a Shaw Farmhouse sink that I got through Fergusons. :)
I’d love to see how you have the bay window decorated for other seasons. I have one in my kitchen and struggle with what to put there.
Hi Brittany! I’ll try to take a pic soon of what I have in my window right now! Very similar to one of my displays in my kitchen in this post I just shared..
https://www.thesunnysideupblog.com/2022/01/kitchen-organization-winter-decor/
I have a large vase with the same olive branches in that post. A wood bowl with lemons and a black pitcher. I’ll take a pic and put it in a post sometime this week for you! :)
I absolutely love the scene in your kitchen window. My Christmas decore is all natural tones so this is perfect. I’m trying to duplicate it on a console table but finding the houses is impossible, even the ones you listed below, are all sold out. I’m thinking maybe I will be able to do it next year. I was hoping you could tell me where you got the houses so I can look for them early next year and maybe they will have them again. Thank you!
Thank you so much Linda! I’m so happy you like it! Those houses were from Nordstrom and Wayfair but I haven’t seen them since I bought them years ago so I think they were discontinued. :( This is what I did with my kitchen window this year if you want a few more ideas! (Could also be done on a console table.) :) Happy holidays! xo
