{gingerbread house/gingerbread village}
I hope you’ve had a good week! December is flying by isn’t it!? Always such a busy month. I’ve been going non-stop this week and have a busy weekend ahead but Ellie comes home from college at the end of next week! I’m so excited and trying to get as much done as possible before she gets here. Once she’s home I plan on spending more time doing fun holiday activities with my crew and hopefully spending more time in my pjs watching Christmas movies. :)
I’m sharing some easy holiday treats today! A little December tradition on the blog. :) Every year we buy these gingerbread sets from Walmart for the kids and Ellie asked me on the phone last week if I had bought them yet. My kids make a mess with these but just like this post.. tradition! One of those things I roll with because my kids want to do it every December. These kits are great and so much easier than buying everything individually or whipping up homemade gingerbread! Not that I’ve ever actually made homemade gingerbread, but I can imagine that it would be hard. Ha. ;)

Walmart has so many fun holiday treats! I’m a huge fan of these cookie kits that include everything you need. They make it so easy for my girls to make treats together and easy for this non chef to figure out if I’m making treats on my own. :) I’m also a huge fan of Walmart’s online delivery and pickup. Especially this time of year when I want quick and easy treats for all of our fun Christmas movie nights! *New customers can use promo code TRIPLE10 to save $10 off their first three pickup or delivery orders. $50 min. Restrictions & fees apply.

Have you ever made reindeer chow? It’s another holiday treat that’s pretty popular at my house in December! So easy to make. I love throwing it together when my kids are having lots of friends over! All you need to make it are the items photographed above.
Want the super tricky recipe for this holiday treat?
You dump everything together in a bowl.
When I say EASY holiday treats I’m not kidding around. :)
This is my kind of baking! Because there is no baking. :) It’s a huge crowd pleaser!
Aren’t these bowls cute too!? They come with wooden lids (so nice if you want to cover your food!) but I actually love them without the lids.
My Christmas tree snack board is another holiday favorite! If you’ve been with me a while you’ve seen this a time or two. :) The best part about this easy holiday treat is that you can use any food you have at your house! Pull out any produce and/or crackers and you’re set. You could even use the same 2 or 3 things throughout repeating items! Just don’t forget pretzel sticks for the trunk and something for a star on top. :) I always just use a star cookie cutter and cheese.
The tree I made this year is almost identical to the tree I made last year because these are the snacks we always have in our fridge/pantry. Ha. :)
These are some easy holiday treats I made last year to give you a few more movie night ideas!
{red dinnerware set/bhg tiered set/4 piece wood serving set/white serving platters}
Some of my favorite serveware! The recipe for the Oatmeal Carmelites is at the end of this post. The are so delicious!
The recipe for my grandma’s applesauce cookies (another December staple for us!) is in this post. Aside from being delicious they also make your house smell so good! That post I just shared with the recipe was written in 2011 btw! My kids were all so little! That’s how long I’ve been sharing these cookies and everything else under the sun with you. We’re getting older friends. At least we’re doing it together.
While enjoying all the cookies. :)
Easy reindeer treats.
And Santa hats using Ritz crackers, cream cheese, strawberries and marshmallows. The crackers can get soggy on these if you let them sit long so we always eat these soon after I make them!
Grinch Santas and another no bake favorite – popcorn with pretzels and holiday m&m’s. :)
Then of course we always make our beloved pretzel hugs to give to friends. I’ve been making and sharing this easy holiday treat since long before 2011! (Type pretzel hugs in the search bar for more info. on these – about 15 posts will pop up.. ha).
I’m slightly predictable, but tradition!
A big part of what December is all about.
:)
Your Christmas will be made when your Ellie comes home next week! I’m so excited FOR you! I hope you have a magical time together. Love all the treats. I’m here for the tradition and the quick and easy. And delicious. :) Thanks so much for sharing and being wonderful you! :)
You’re the sweetest Jeanne! Thank you! Seriously counting down. :) And yes! Quick and easy is always the best way to go. Ha. ;) I hope you’re enjoying your weekend! xo
This post came to my inbox just in time! I’m hosting my office Christmas party tonight and wanted some other EASY, festive treats. Done and done! Thanks as always, Erin, for all of your helpful and beautiful ideas. Merry Christmas!
Oh YEA! That makes my day Julie! So sweet of you. Thank you! Happy hosting! :) xo
ELLIE! I KNOW you can’t wait! :D I remember like it was yesterday!
The Christmas tree board…..
You can make it safe IF there is a pup in the house. One who sneaks food!
Also, so easy to drop grapes. DEADLY poison for canines. Kidney failure.
EASY FIX; Replace grapes with multicolored cherry tomatoes
HOW can something so good for us be so dangerous to them!?
Of course, no chocolate, nutmeg, avocado or shellfish either.
Unlike Peaches who would never even think of eating something NOT good for her….
The pups DO! I mean, well, SOME will even eat a rock!
Carry on friend. THIS is YOUR season! A+ This year!
Oh my word Sherrie! You would definitely have to be so careful and yes.. NO grapes or onion aloud! Peaches rarely leaves her cage (unless she’s on Addison’s shoulder) so not much of a threat there.. ha ha. That made me laugh just picturing her snapping food! You are the best! Always making me smile. :) XO
PS.
Also, NO onion for the pups!
These are awesome! Thank you! Can I add that we have identical cooking styles; your commentary cracks me up because that’s exactly how I feel. :)
Ha ha.. so happy it’s not just me Alison! We need to meet for takeout! ;) xo
