Saturday 6

1 – MORNING WALKS

morning walks (Sunny Side Up)

Good morning and happy Saturday from the trail! YEA.. the weekend is here. I have been so tired this week and I think it’s just from exercising more! I didn’t do much when my girls were home for the holidays clear into January so now that I’m walking every morning and going to the gym in the evenings with the boys again I’m definitely feeling it and crashing harder at night. Once I got in a good evening gym routine I tried not going on my early morning walk for a couple of days and it was a major fail. I know I sound like a broken record with this but my morning walks are seriously like taking a happy pill! Starting the day with movement and being outside makes a huge difference in my overall mood and productivity. It’s always cold so early in the morning but some days have been beautiful with blue skies..

and other days have not. Ha. I snapped this Friday morning. Such a dreary, rainy day but I still felt so much better after walking!

Kenny came with me too which made it fun. He has been joining me when he doesn’t have early morning meetings and I love the extra time with him. I snapped this pic so quick because we have a no phone rule during our walks! I have been meeting different friends early for these walks too and it’s such a fun way to start the day catching up with someone you love. I’m a fan. This night owl is becoming more of a morning person.

Kind of. ;)

2 – SPRING STEMS/NEW RUGS

Spring Stems (Sunny Side Up)

{Faux Pink Magnolia Stems, Rattan Tray, Cake Stand}

Another pick me up around here? New spring stems. :) I couldn’t resist these magnolia branches! Perfect for spring and I love that they have white and a little pink in them so they will always work for winter/Valentine’s Day too. I bought three branches and love the way they look in this vase.

Faux Stems

PB has so many beautiful stems for spring! These are also gorgeous.

Faux Snowball Branch

I loved these too! Their faux flowers are always a little on the pricey side so I usually stick to stems that you only need a few branches to look good.

I ended up moving this fun arrangement to my dining nook. Hard to photograph against the window.. they look so pretty in person!

Kitchen Rug (Sunny Side Up)

Area Rug

I got a new rug for my dining nook and it is reminding me so much of my beloved wool/jute family room rug. It’s soft and has so much texture.. a great neutral! It also has a spring vibe with the fun square pattern.

I snapped this with my phone and it was a little dark.

So I took this with my camera.. I need to try again when the lighting is working with me. Everything looks better in person!

I also finally laid down this runner I bought in December. Love a good stripe. It’s so beautiful!

I like the way these two rugs work together with different patterns but similar neutrals. Both come in lots of sizes and would be beautiful in a living room too!

3 – VALENTINE’S DAY FUN

Valentine's Day Porch (Sunny Side Up){Heart Garland, Doormat, Tulip Wreath,Pink Peonies, Black Fluted Planters}

I can’t believe Valentine’s Day is next week! That snuck up so quickly. I have been loving my Valentine’s Day Porch which is 100% just an excuse to keep my Christmas trees and lanterns up longer. My heart banner has been making me laugh. The hearts curl on humid days and then straighten out when it’s sunny and nice!

Keeping the lights going through February and then I’ll bust out a spring porch.

Valentine’s Day Finds

Cutest heart mugs! If I wasn’t decluttering kitchen cabinets soon they would have come home with me. :)

Valentine's Day (Sunny Side Up)

Red Ice Cube Molds, Pink Ice Cube Molds

I did bring home these fun heart and rose ice cube molds. So FUN!

Valentine's Day (Sunny Side Up)

Pink Waffle Maker, Heart Waffle Maker

I also couldn’t pass on these mini waffle makers! I’ve used similar mini waffle makers in the past for holidays and the waffles always turn out so cute. Thinking I’ll make my boys a heart breakfast a few days next week. I’m sure they can’t wait! Ha. My girls aren’t here to get excited about holiday fun like this so now I just do it for my boys (whether they care or not). :)

Valentine's Day (Sunny Side Up)

Valentine’s Soup Bowl

I’ve been  using this cute bowl/tray for soup and sandwiches! We have been having a lot of soup and chili lately.

These bowls have also been perfect this time of year! Love the little spot for crackers.

They are Kole’s favorite too. :)

4 – SPRING FLATS

Spring Shoes (Sunny Side Up)

Ballet Flats, Cropped Pants

I’m so excited about these cute ballet flats! They are VERY comfortable and fun to wear with cropped pants. They come in so many colors/patterns. I’ve had these pants in green for years and love them so much I finally got them in black too.

5 – DECLUTTERING

Organizing (Sunny Side Up)

I have been making so much progress around here but nothing that fun or pretty to share! Just lots of bags full of items to donate and shuffling the things I’m keeping around. I’m about to wrap up my decor closet (will share it soon!) and start my 15 minute a day organizing. Ready for some quick wins!

6 – FRIENDS

friends (Sunny Side Up)

I have learned that I need two things to be happy in life.. people and purpose. (I think that’s true for a lot of us!) People being my #1.. relationships are everything! I have always valued friendship but this past year with my girls both moving out (my 2 built in besties!) I have been especially grateful for the close friends in my life. I see a friend or two most days whether it’s meeting for a quick lunch at a restaurant or cute cafe (love this little spot in Solana Beach!), walking or doing a fitness class together, or prioritizing girls nights and weekend road trips. Overall I’m an extrovert and I work from home alone so seeing friends daily is like going on a morning walk for me.. an instant upper! I’m sharing this because I think January and February can be hard months and it’s easy to feel isolated or lonely. If you haven’t spent time with a friend recently reach out to someone and make it happen! Put something on the calendar and don’t back out. Everyone is busy and it’s easy to get wrapped up in your day to day life with family and work and all the things, but prioritizing time with friends is something you will never regret.

Life lesson #347,684 from me that you didn’t necessarily need or want but got anyway. ;)

friends (Sunny Side Up)

You deserve to have good friends in your life! From one friend to another. :)

Love you all and have the best weekend!

xoxo, Erin
