Survive

Oh.  My.  Goodness.  This week has been just short of insane.  Remember the letter I wrote to myself during the newborn stage to help me get through that crazy time period?  Well here’s a new letter to myself to help get me through the next year.
Dear Erin,
          SURVIVE.
Love, Erin
You see, I had plans this week.  Places to go, projects to complete, activities to attend, e-mails to respond to, a birthday party to plan, a trip to pack for, a house to clean, and let’s not forget fun pictures to post on the blog.

But alas!  Here’s what my week looked like instead:

First mom can watch me pull out all of my toys and her wrapping paper…

then I’ll move on to dad’s socks.
Scrapbook supplies are where it’s at.
Mom won’t care if I munch on these stickers.  They are so last year…

Pasta is my favorite.  The messier the better.  Mom especially loves it when I show her I’m done by  chucking my food at record speeds.  Love to watch that food fly!
Ha!  She THINKS I’m contained.  Not for long…
Ahhhh!  The one year old.  This stage is KILLER.  And Kole just might kill me.
One munched on scrapbook sticker at a time.
Have a fabulous long weekend everyone!  You all know what I’ll be up to.  :)
xoxo, Erin

  1. I have three boys, ages 3.5 and under. Take it from me…Kole won’t be slowing down anytime soon. Boys are GO GO GO, and then GO some more! I’m lucky if I can get them to sit still to color for 5 minutes. But I woudln’t trade it for the world!! Enjoy!

  2. My last little one has been the busiest too. She is everywhere and literally tears everything apart, but is so cute that somehow she gets away with it. Gotta have something to keep us busy right?

  3. As you know, I am going through this stage right now with my little guy and, you are right – it is a killer. I hate to wish the time away but I am freakin’ exhausted!!! You can’t turn your back on them for one second. I had toilet paper all over my downstairs the other day…..

I am trying to survive right along with ya.

  4. Erin, I have so enjoyed reading your blog! I have a 7, 4 and 14 month old. I’m nodding and cracking up at this post because I feel your pain/joy! :) I haven’t blogged in long while, but I do sneak in a few favorite blog reads late or early while my people are sleeping and yours is one of my new favorites. I just had to comment and tell you “hi!” Hang in there, momma!

  5. Love your writing, always makes me laugh! My 3rd (a boy) who is 3 is KILLING me, each year I think he will mellow….WRONG, he is lod and wild and demanding and full of life and energy….but I adore him and know that the days are loooonnngg but the years short! heres to surviving!

  6. ….the reason your Mother never picked up on organizing as a hobby, nor a habit. Knew one of kiddos would tear it up. haha! Hang in there, Erin!! You can do this!

  7. Hi Erin! I have been following your blog for a while now. I think I found you via Becky Higgins somehow. Becky is a friend/neighbor. I LOVE your blog…I think I check it daily for updates. ;)

This past week my husband just learned that there is a chance his company will be relocating us from Phoenix to San Diego. It is nothing set in stone, but a possibility. We vacation in SD, but know NOTHING about the desirable areas to live, schools, or anything like that. I know this is a LOADED question, but is there any way you could sum up in a quick email what living in SD is like, the areas to look into, the areas to avoid, the school district(s) with with best reputations (we have 4 school age kids), and anything else you might add would be much appreciated!

I feel bad asking when you’re in survival mode, so just get back to me when/if you have time.

Hang in there, this too, shall pass…pretty soon you’ll have three in school! ;)

    My email is: [email protected]

(if any of your readers are from the SD are and want to send me info that would be great, too!)

    Gratefully,

    Karen from AZ :)

  8. Oh Erin!!!! I so remember those days!!!!! It’s constant and body/mind numbing. The good news is…he’ll be out of this stage by the time your girls are moody teenagers. :)

  9. I sound old but I do miss those days, but your post is such a reminder of how busy it is. He is adorable! We spent the early weekend in St. George. Ahhhh.

  10. Is it mean to say it makes me feel better I’m not the only one =) Going to church with my one-year old felt almost pointless today. And then we came home to find all the mess he had left. Aaaahhh…
Anyways, I’m a fan of your blog!

  11. I repeat to myself daily, serenity now, serenity now. I am not sure how the math works but somehow going from 2 kids to 3 kids was like adding 100 kids. Ok, perhaps that is a bit of an exaggeration but I am with you! Good luck! (I know I need a little.) :)

  12. Hi Erin, I have a 2 yr old son with way more energy than I can keep up with. But I can honestly say the hardest time was from 12-18mths with the mess he created. Now that he’s 2 he’s so much better – doesnt empty drawers as much and our house doesnt look like a warzone every single day. Just wanted to say it WILL get easier and it’s not that far away hopefully! I know what you mean though, it is SO tiring to just be picking up mess all day and cleaning high chairs! Hang in there!

  13. And it.will.never.end…muaaahahahahahahahaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa! Just when you think they’ve grown out of that stage, they learn how to use a screwdriver! (cue horror flick music) *ree ree ree reee*!
