Saturday 6

Happy Saturday and happy February! I can’t believe January is over and I can’t believe that it actually went by quickly this year! Usually January feels like the longest month ever to me and I think it felt different this year because our girls were home from college through some of January making it feel like Christmas vacation was longer and January was shorter. Maybe that’s why? Who knows!? Whether January felt short or long to you this year it’s behind us and spring is right around the corner. YEA. :)

I am ready to add some life back into my home and have been looking for a new faux tree for the corner of my bedroom and a couple of other spots. I was feeling especially indecisive and really wanted to see the trees I loved on-line in my home before I made up my mind so I ended up ordering 6 trees – 3 smaller trees and 3 larger trees. Kenny came home from work and I was unboxing them in the mudroom.. it looked like a forest.. ha! Trees everywhere. He was like um.. what is happening!? Nevermind. Carry on.

All in a day over here. ;)

Moringa Tree

Sharing my 6 faux trees with you for today’s Saturday 6! I set them all in the same spot so you can get an idea of size. The first 3 are shorter and I want something larger and fuller for this corner but I honesty love all 6 of these tree so much and have a spot for one of the shorter trees too. This tree has a beautiful shape and I love the white modern pot.

Aren’t the leaves fun on this tree!? Such a deep, dark green and love the basket!

Pterocarpus Leaf Tree

This is a pretty tree with a similar look to the first tree but a basket vs. a pot. I like that you can make this tree have a full look or a slim look depending on how big your space is!

Shady Lady Tree

Cutest tall tree! This reminds me a lot of my PB tree I just shared in this post. Very realistic and the pot is so fun and unique! 10/10! It keeps selling out on-line and then coming back in stock. I’m definitely keeping it somewhere! But I want something fuller for this spot in my bedroom.

Gypsophila Leaf Potted Tree

This is a gorgeous tree! It’s so tall and thin so perfect for corners. I love the pot but wish it was just a little bit bigger for such a large tree. I might put this where my PB tree was in my family room and move that tree to a different corner. Musical trees around here at the moment! This is another tree that keeps selling out so if it’s in stock and you want it don’t wait. It has such a light and airy spring vibe!

Olive Tree

Winner for my bedroom corner! I LOVE a good olive tree and this is absolute perfection. The leaves! The shape! The pot and faux moss! Plus it’s the perfect size for this corner.. nice and full like I wanted! I moved it more into the corner and will get a better pic of how it looks with the whole room. It’s hard to tell the impact it made. I feel like my bedroom came alive!

I hope this was helpful if you are looking for a faux tree. They are such a good way to add warmth and life to your home without the maintenance! These 6 faux trees are all so realistic you really can’t tell they are fake until you are right up next to them. I’m a fan. :)

2024 Amazon Favorites

Flameless Candle Lighter

I hope your week is off to a good start! It finally rained on Monday (so grateful!) which inspired lots of organizing and taco soup. I’m currently in the middle of a mess. Well.. a lot of messes! It always gets worse before it gets better right!? I’m in the “worse” stage and will hopefully have progress to share soon. Until then I thought it would be fun to share your Amazon favorites from 2024! These are the top 25 items you liked and bought the most and it’s always so interesting to me to see what you are all loving! Of course they are all things I love, but it’s fun seeing which items speak the most to you! These are mostly in order of your favorites and number 1 is my little candle lighter..ha! Who knew that would be such a hit!? I do love it and just used it today. Happy you all love it too!

Snack Box

My little snackle box was your second favorite! No surprise there.. this has come in so handy! I especially love it when we travel and for beach days. I’m giving my fridge a little makeover this week and ordered this divided serving tray and this divided veggie tray that are similar to try! I’ll let you know if I love them as much as the original.

My girls’ makeup organizer was your #3 favorite and from one organizing lover to another.. it doesn’t surprise me at all you love it too! :)

I was so happy to see the pocket hug made the list! The cutest gift. Ad has taken it with her for every test so far in college (so cute.. she sends us a picture with it on every exam day!). Perfect little good luck charm. El loves hers too. Who doesn’t want a hug in their pocket to pull out whenever needed? :)

The hat organizer is also a favorite! I just put 3 of Kenny’s hats away on it today. For some reason he seems to forget he has this little gem and leaves his hats all over the house. He’s so lucky to have me. And this organizer. ;)

Makeup Brush Cleaner / New Makeup Brush Cleaner / Cleaner Solution

This makeup brush cleaner also made the list! I do love this! BUT a few months ago I ordered THIS ONE and I can already tell I’m going to use it more. For some reason I never want to pull the one above out because I have to plug it in. Ha! I know that seems so dumb! But the new brush cleaner takes 2 seconds to pull out and use without a plug so I keep gravitating towards it. You can also flip it over to store the brushes while they dry. I’ll share a pic of it soon! They are both great options for cleaning makeup brushes.

My bracelets made the list! I just cleaned out my jewelry and kept every bracelet in this set!

Sunday Edit

Happy Sunday! I hope your weekend is going well! We are supposed to get some rain today. Please let it be so! I have a fun Sunday round-up that includes your weekly favorites, Amazon orders and deals, gift ideas for Valentine’s Day and new home and fashion arrivals from Target! I’m hoping to do a little more organizing today. Kenny and I went through our closet Saturday and have several bags to donate so I’m feeling good about that! I’m determined to keep that space under control this year and to do that we have to only keep what we are wearing and loving. If I buy something new I have to donate something else. I can always tell when it’s time because I run out of hangers! I used to just buy more hangers which is why I’m in this mess. Ha. Not anymore! It’s a new me in 2025.

Really just the old me who is better about keeping our master closet under control. ;)

1 – NEW DECOR CLOSET (PHASE 1!)

Happy Saturday! I have a fun round-up for today’s Saturday 6. Organizing has officially begun! If you have been with me awhile you might remember this closet! It used to hold the kids’ toys and was always oh so organized. When the kids stopped playing with toys I attempted to re-organize this space but lost steam somewhere along the way. It has been a mess of random things ever since! I bought baskets for it a few years ago, but one by one I moved the baskets to different rooms to hold other things. This closet is valuable storage space in our home and it has not been meeting its full potential! SO.. I cleaned everything out and wiped down the shelves and bought these beautiful baskets to kick start a new identity for this closet! I’m moving all of my extra home to this space. Right now I have extra decor ALL OVER my house. Time to edit and consolidate! (And decorate along the way.) :)

2 – ORGANIZED JEWELRY

Here is a fast project I did a few nights ago while Kenny and I watched a movie. I love spreading a blanket out during movie night and organizing something. So therapeutic. :) Time to tackle jewelry! That pile in the left corner is all being donated.

Set the stacked box in your bathroom or closet or put the single trays inside of drawers.. either way it’s a beautiful set and I’m so happy to have my jewelry all in one place and only favorites I actually wear in front of me!

3 – BEST DRAWER ORGANIZERS

25 Piece Organizers

Ok.. I’ve used A LOT of clear organizers for drawers in my day and I have to say that this set is PHENOMENAL. I’m seriously thinking about switching some of my bathroom organizers out for these. They are thick and good quality and a great height (tall enough to hold a lot but not too tall to fit in drawers). They aren’t expensive (they come in a set of 25 for $25 so a dollar each!) and the best part? THEY DON’T SLIDE.

These organizers have space around them (they aren’t packed in tight) and I can open and close this drawer over and over and they don’t even budge! They have little grips on the bottom that really hold to the base of the drawer. I love that I don’t have to use putty to hold them in place.

Fill them with candy or other fun Valetine’s Day surprises!

5 – CLEAN ATTIC

Ok.. can I just say that it took me SO LONG to get my Christmas decor put away this year! DO NOT let me put so much up next year.. ha! I finally got it all put away and organized in my upstairs attic space and it’s always the best feeling isn’t it!?

I started my early morning walks again and while I don’t love getting out of bed in the morning, I absolutely love watching the sun come up! A quick walk before my day starts works wonders for my mood and productivity. I notice a huge difference on days I don’t go. It’s so cold! But so worth it.

1 – CLEAN SLATE

Happy Saturday! I’m a little slow this year but finally got Christmas put away!

I’m actually still working on my attic.. going through everything and donating/organizing all of my seasonal decor. But it’s not up in the main rooms anymore so progress! It always feels so empty when it comes down doesn’t it!? It makes me a little sad but also excited for a fresh start.

1 – FETA & TOMATO DIP

Happy Saturday! First Saturday 6 of 2025. Let’s do this. :) I made this family favorite dip a few times over Christmas break and thought I’d share the recipe again if any of you want to try it. It is SO GOOD and SO EASY to make.

All you need is Olive Oil, Feta Cheese, Roma Tomatoes, Green Onions, this Greek Seasoning and a fresh Baguette. My sister has been making this every December for over 10 years but found it on-line so it’s not technically “our” recipe but we love it so we say it is. :) We always make it over the 4th of July too. The pop of red makes it fun for holiday get togethers.

Pour some olive oil onto a platter. Chop your tomatoes and dice the green onions and put them over the olive oil. Add some crumbled Feta and then sprinkle the Greek Seasoning on top. Stir it up and serve with slices of fresh bread. YUM.

I’m sad about the the kids all heading back to school, but I’m also excited about getting back into my daily routine. Time to plan ALL the things! Nothing makes me happier than a good planner. Or 2.

2025 Planner, Notebook, Pens, Scissors

Or 3 or 4. Ha. I can’t resist a good planner and I love all of these so much I’m using them all! The large desk calendar for big picture trips/events, the 2025 planner for blog/work, the to-do notebook for day to-dos and the notebook for brain dumps when I just want a big list to check off. I’m sure I’ll rotate these around but they keep me motivated! Day to day events are on my phone but I like my lists for daily to-dos. I also always pick up new pens and new scissors to kick off the year. It’s the little things in life. :)

The Let Them Theory

One more New Year favorite.. I couldn’t wait to read this! I’m a huge Mel Robbins fan (have listened to her podcast since she started it) and this book does not disappoint. I listened to it all on audible in Maui and am going to re-read the hard copy now. I’m making Kenny and the girls read it too! Bottom line is focusing on what you can control and letting go of things you can’t. Did any of you read it over the break? 10/10!

3 – KENNY’S FAVORITES

Air Fryer

Kenny got an air fryer for Christmas and he is a little TOO excited about it. He is air frying everything and driving us all crazy. Ha. I love that he loves it! But he is making lots of Salmon lately and the smell is killing me. (I don’t like fish and struggle with the smell of it!) The kids have been laughing at his enthusiasm over his meal and my enthusiasm that quickly follows while I scrub out the air fryer, open every window in the kitchen, light 3 candles and then pop pop corn to cover the smell. It’s a fun nightly routine we are in at the moment!

I also gave him this backpack for Christmas this year.. perfect for travel! I would definitely recommend the air fryer and the backpack!

Lip gloss that gives a slight plump! Buxom has been a favorite for years. I bought this set for me and the girls from Nordstrom and it sold out quickly but I found it on Amazon too! Lots of color options here. I like the clear the best to put over my lip stick.

Socks Set

These socks are so good! I just ordered more. Thin, lightweight, super cozy and a great fit. I like this set.. perfect neutrals! I’ve been wearing them every day with my sneakers.

Santa brought Ad this cute Lulu Scuba jacket and now I want one too! If she was still living here all the time I would be sneaking it out of her closet. So cute. She is so easy to shop for because we have the same taste and wear a lot of the same things. Fun to share with my girls at this stage! I just buy Ad things I want/love. El has totally different taste in clothes and I don’t dare risk it with her so she gets gift cards. Ha. :)

p.s. Thank you so much to everyone who has reached out about the fires. So kind of you to think of us. We are two hours away from it all and so far our air quality hasn’t been an issue. We are beyond devastated for everyone affected and have been glued to the news watching updates. To lose your home and community like that is just unimaginable. We have had to evacuate for fires in the past several times and have close friends in LA so this is really hitting home and I find myself in tears on and off all day. Like many of you we are doing what we can to help at this stage (there are so many amazing people jumping in and ways to donate!) and we are sending love and prayers to anyone affected. Thank you again for thinking of us! It means so much to me.

Happy 2025! Goals & Maui

Happy 2025! I hope you all had a nice holiday! We had a great Christmas and then spent the following week in Maui. It was gorgeous and we didn’t want to leave! Home again now and we’re settling into a routine with school for Kole starting today. My girls are home the rest of this week so I’m soaking up as much time with them as I can before they head back to college!

I usually schedule some activities ahead of time when we visit Hawaii, but this year I made 3 dinner reservations for the week and that was it! Ha. I knew we all just needed some down time. Kenny has had a crazy busy year at work, the girls had a stressful month with finals and December is always nonstop for moms.. we were tired! It was a perfect week. The best kind of vacation when you can’t remember what day or time it is and nobody really cares. :)

{Who’s Most Likely To..}

We had so much fun with this game and played it almost every night after dinner.

These are some of the cards my lovely family thinks are me. Gets totally lost but has a great time? My friends would agree. Will alphabetize spice rack in free time? Best way to party. Has a guy for that? What do you need done. Trapped by revolving door? Happens every time. Revelations about life that lead to bouts of crying? Maybe a few. It is ALWAYS LIKE REALLY COLD.

A little embarrassed to admit to some of these but apparently I’ll “do it for the insta.” Ha. The best part about the cards is they bring up all sorts of funny family jokes/stories you reminder when you’re trying to decide who gets each card so you just end up laughing through the game.

We spent most of the trip snorkeling/swimming in the ocean, lounging by the pool, playing games, watching movies..

and chilling with the turtles. :)

I could watch them for hours. This little guy was so persistent.

We watched him for 20 minutes making his way to the water. When the wave finally took him in and his little head popped up out of the water before he really took off we all cheered. A little like life right? Don’t give up. Slow and steady wins the race. :)

I don’t really set New Years Goals much anymore. I gave that up years ago when I kept repeatedly writing “cook 3 times a week” and realized no matter how many times I wrote it down it just wasn’t going to happen. But I do love taking some time to think about things I want to keep prioritizing and working on with another beautiful new year in front of me! Determined to keep my closet clean! This is the year. :)

These are the things I’m trying to do without this year. Clutter is always out for me but the other things are areas I definitely could improve! I was typing these last night while I was watching a movie with Ad and I showed them to her and said “are these dumb? do I dare share them? Wait.. I have more in the In column than the Out column and they aren’t lining up right..I need to re-type these..” Ad said “hello overthinking and perfectionism..”

Apparently I have some work to do in 2025 so those goal don’t end up just being tossed out with the cooking ones.

This is another printable I love when I’m working on one or two habits I want to change! There is something about checking off each day you can maintain it that is so motivating for me!

Who is ready to organize with me this month? And all the other months? :) I am SO excited to tackle my house this year! I know I say that I’m excited to organize every year, but this year I’m really feeling ready to donate so many thing in my home. Now that my girls have moved out and Kole is so much older I feel like I need to re-do a lot of our spaces. There is a lot in my home that I’m holding on to that we just don’t need anymore. Needs have changed and it’s time! I was a little too emotional to do this type of a clean out right after my girls moved out, but now I’m feeling ready. LESS is MORE and I am looking forward not back! It’s going to be a party. :)

15 minutes a day really adds up and I’m always amazed at how much I can get done each week by just a little here and there.

I also have a lot I want to do to update my home this year. I haven’t even started taking down Christmas yet.. waiting to start when my girls go back! But I already have some fun ideas of how I can warm things up this winter and there are a few things I want to change/update around here. I’m excited to get started!

Christmas

This & That and Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas Eve! I can’t believe we are here. I hope you are enjoying the day with loved ones! We got our annual Santa pic taken Monday (snapped this waiting in line) so our Christmas Eve is clear for all of the traditions we’ve set up with our kids through the years. And drum roll please.. I’m done wrapping! This is the first year I won’t have to spend hours on Christmas Eve putting everything together. Very proud of myself.. it’s a Christmas miracle! Ha.

Santa was GOLD with my kids this year. He took charge and made them turn in their cell phones and talked to them for quite a while and was so funny! He also made me hop in for one pic at the end! He said he has had more teens and adults than ever before getting pictures with him. See kids! You aren’t the only ones. ;) Funny thing is my kids complain about having to do our annual pic with Santa but then I heard them talking about how they’ll be doing this forever with their spouses and kids.

They secretly love it. For the most part. ;)

I’m just happy we have one more pic to add to my wall! 2024 baby! Each year with my 3 kids is such a gift.

{Simmer Pot / Sources}

I came home from the mall and put together a simmer pot! I knew we would be mostly home for the rest of the day and this makes the house smell so good! My mom always made simmer pots during the holidays when we were growing up. That smell of cinnamon takes me back every year! I usually just use one of my pots that I cook with but I ordered this new clear simmer pot a few weeks ago and was excited to try it. I’m sure most of you have made a simmer pot before, but if you haven’t they are so easy! You can really add anything and play around with different combinations/smells. I always use oranges (sometimes lemons), cinnamon sticks, cranberries and star anise.

I usually order the star anise on Amazon. Sometimes I use whole cloves and sometimes I just use ground gloves if that’s all I have. Sometimes I add nutmeg and vanilla too. You can’t mess this up which is why I love simmer pots so much!

Add water and whatever you want to include and bring it to a boil and then just let it simmer for a couple of hours. Easy and done and smells so good!

It looks pretty in this clear pot too. I’ll have this and my Christmas candles on repeat over the break whenever we are home!

A few pics of life lately! We had our annual stocking exchange and ate outside this year.. it was such a beautiful table and a beautiful day! A fun tradition a couple of friends of mine started and organized last year. (Did I share this last year? If not I’ll have to explain it at some point!)

Diet Coke with lime, good food and good friends. A combination I’m always here for. :)

This puff sleeve velvet blouse has been so fun to wear for holiday events! It fits so cute and I love it with high waisted pants.

My beaded pearl bow purse was also a must have for me this holiday season as you know! It seemed to work with everything. (So grateful for good friends!)

Kenny and I have been each other’s ride or die this year with the kids gone more. We miss the full house but it has been so fun spending more quality time together! Feels like we are taking a step back to the early pre-kid days. :) We’ve also been able to spend more time with couple friends which is always a good thing! (This view is off of the restaurant C-level.. a fun spot if you are visiting San Diego. You feel like you are sitting right on the ocean when you eat with this view watching ships go by!)

We went to the San Diego Symphony for the first time with friends this month and it was absolutely incredible. All Christmas music and I teared up during several songs!

A fun new December tradition to add to the list! December needs to be 3 months long. If I was in charge of things that is the first rule I would make.

Spring Home Target Favorites

My lemon art came in the mail today! A reminder that spring will be here before we know it. I’m in no rush to get through the holidays! I know I’ll be sad when my girls leave again and it’s time to take down the Christmas trees. Having a few cute new things to decorate with for spring helps things feel not quite as depressing. Plus lemons! Lemon are so happy. I’m a fan as you know. :) (I shared more spring favorites below and some fun things for travel if you are vacationing over the break!) Knowing that it’s time to organize will also help to cheer us all up! I have a lot of spaces that are full of too much stuff. Looking forward to giving my home a deep clean out and organizing all the things.

And taking you all along for the ride again of course. :)

Merry Christmas! I can’t begin to express how grateful I am for this community. Your kind words and support here on my blog and on IG bring a smile to my face every single day. 2024 was a harder year for me (not trying to be dramatic.. ha.. we are doing great and have so much to be thankful for!). But it was definitely an adjustment year for me with the girls leaving and there were tears and sad moments a lot of days. You all give me a safe and happy place to land each day and help keep things Sunny Side Up more than you know. Thank you!! A million times thank you. I wish I could give each of you a huge hug in person. I truly hope you have the best holiday season and a happy kick off to 2025! I’ll see you in January! We have lots of fun things to do in the new year so rest while you can. ;)
