Woodsy Glam Christmas Tree (and favorite holiday pillows!)

Woodsy Glam Christmas Tree (Sunny Side Up)

{norway faux spruce tree/woven tree skirt/chunky wool jute rug}

It’s looking pretty festive at my house and my family room tree is ready for the holidays! I’m so excited about how it turned out and I hope you love it too!

Woodsy Glam Christmas Tree (Sunny Side Up)

Every time I put up a Christmas tree I just wish I could have one up ALL YEAR LONG. There is nothing like the lights of a Christmas tree! I’m calling my holiday decor this year “woodsy glam.” Lots of greens, browns, and blacks that create a woodsy vibe, but when I added this gorgeous leafy garland and other gold accents the glam came out to play. :)

Woodsy Glam Christmas Tree (Sunny Side Up)

The past few years I have really loved having “less” on my tree. I love to add some sort of garland and a few types of ornaments, but I like to see a lot of the tree and keep it simple. Less is more for me when it comes to tree decorating these days!

Woodsy Glam Christmas Tree (Sunny Side Up)

I used the same gold beaded garland that I put on last year’s tree and the same glitter star ornaments (they have been favorites for several years now!). The round textured ornaments I bought last year and they sold out in early October this year, but these are a similar look in gold and silver. I used 4 of the leafy garlands on this tree. (Two around the largest part of the tree at the bottom and then two singles for the middle and top). Each garland has batteries and a timer so you can set the garland lights to come on when your tree lights click on. Kenny set all of my trees on timers last year (I can control them with my phone too) and it was seriously the best gift he could have given me! I told my girls.. “marry a man who sets your trees on timers for you.” Ha. My sage advice. ;) Really the reason it meant so much to me is because he isn’t even into Christmas trees! He’d be fine if we never put one up and just did it because he knows how much I love them. It made me so happy. :)

Woodsy Glam Christmas Tree (Sunny Side Up)

{khaki velvet ribbon/black velvet ribbon}

I also added some velvet ribbon this year! Khaki and black. I just cut pieces and tied them on the branches. No bows.. just a simple tie. Like I said.. simple speaks to me.

Woodsy Glam Christmas Tree (Sunny Side Up)

{glitter gold star tree topper}

I placed my beloved gold star tree topper on top and done! I’ll get some night shots when I photograph the rest of this room. This week has been so busy! I didn’t have time for many pics but wanted to take a few of this tree during the day to share. The only thing about my “woodsy glam” decor in my main rooms this year is that there isn’t any red! You all know how much I love red during the holidays. :) I’m going to have to decorate a few red rooms to get my red fix this year. Luckily it’s only mid November.

Lots of time left to keep decorating!

Woodsy Glam Christmas Tree (Sunny Side Up)

I pulled out all of my holiday pillows this week and wow.. I have a few. Ha. :) I looked through all of them and a few stood out as pillows that I tend to use year after year after year. You will recognize most of these! They are pillows that stand the test of time and seem to work with any and all decor. First are my cable knit fur faux pillows. These pillows are a splurge but they are GORGEOUS in person and they are HUGE! They are also incredibly soft and have the best texture with the knit in the middle and the fur on the sides. I’ve had them for years. They work with everything and always look fabulous! I also love that I can use them through February (perfect “winter” vibes). My next favorite is the everywhere velvet pillow. I have and love the hunter green but these velvet pillows come in lots of colors! A perfect soft and gorgeous neutral and I love velvet during the holidays. I also found these that are similar for less if you don’t want to pay PB’s price. My fa la la pillow from last year will absolutely become a tried and true favorite. Just a touch of red adds  the perfect Christmas accent to any room. Plus it just makes me happy. :) And of course my merry pillow. Wow I think I’ve had this pillow for almost 10 years now! Another holiday staple I use every year that looks good any and everywhere. (I have a love a lot of PB’s merry collection! TOO much fun). :)

Woodsy Glam Christmas Tree (Sunny Side Up)

{conell lumbar pillow/conell 20″ square pillow}

This beautiful pillow with black trees is new this year and I’m obsessed! I needed something with black to tie everything together on my family room couch and when I saw this it was love at first sight. The trees add the woodsy vibe and the mountains remind me of my childhood in Utah. PERFECTION. :) It comes in a square size too!

Woodsy Glam Christmas Tree (Sunny Side Up)

Of course you all know and remember my velvet sherpa tree pillow! I usually have it in my bedroom but I’m using it in my family room this year. Another staple that I use again and again because it always looks so good with any holiday decor! The tree and ornaments on it add so much texture. It’s a beautiful pillow and this year PB came out with a matching stocking! The green loops tree pillow is another favorite because of its texture and how well it works with everything, but the green sold out! It does come in a red and grey though and at the moment they are still in stock.

Woodsy Glam Christmas Tree (Sunny Side Up)

Like I said (and as you know!) I’ve bought a lot of holiday pillows through the years and love them all! But I wanted to share my top picks that make the cut every single Nov/Dec. These are the pillows that have been money well spent!

Not that every pillow isn’t money well spent (let’s not be silly!).. but these especially.

;)

Gift Ideas (Sunny Side Up)

Colleen Rothschild products make fun gifts for anyone wanting to up their skin routine. I shared favorites in this post. You can also check out their best seller page. I’m always stocking up on this hair mask and the Extreme Recovery Cream! Love them both too much and I’ve given both items as gifts!

Travel bags/Amazon Prime (Sunny Side Up)

I’ve shared my travel favorites so many times but I’m sharing them again because they make perfect gifts!  This double layer make-up travel bag is my #1!   It holds EVERYTHING.  I love that I can lay larger products in the middle and keep smaller bottles upright on the side.

Travel bags/Amazon Prime (Sunny Side Up)

There is also another zipper compartment on top for make-up brushes and other items. I love the transparent cover to keep make-up brushes clean too. Plus it has a strap and is easy to carry. WINNER!

Travel bags/Amazon Prime (Sunny Side Up)

This electronic organizer is another favorite!  Perfect to hold all of your charging cords, camera items, pens, a mouse, your phone.. whatever you need. Would make a great gift!

Travel bags/Amazon Prime (Sunny Side Up)

If you prefer a good hanging bag this toiletry bag on the left is a great option.  It also holds a lot and has elastics that help keep products upright.  I also really like this travel make-up organizer.  Similar to my favorite bag with a separate spot for brushes on top.  It also has dividers that you can move and customize.

Everything open..

Travel bags/Amazon Prime (Sunny Side Up)

And closed.

These favorite travel bags are all linked below along with this jewelry organizer I also have and love.

Thanksgiving Table

*affiliate links used
Thanksgiving Table (Sunny Side Up)

{paneled wall mirror/wool jute rug}

I hope you’re having a good week so far! It has been pouring rain here all day and we are loving it! We need the rain so badly plus it’s making the Christmas tree lights feel even cozier. :) On that note.. trees are coming soon! But I wanted to share this fun Thanksgiving table for those of you who are hosting and looking for a few ideas. This table could also easily work for Christmas with just a few small tweaks!

Thanksgiving Table (Sunny Side Up)

{similar table here & here/similar chairs/similar end chairs}

Thanksgiving Table (Sunny Side Up)

{similar square pendants/sideboard/sunken treasure art/lamps}

Thanksgiving Table (Sunny Side Up)

First I poured some glass stones into these beautiful glass hurricane candle holders. (I added some wrapping tissue at the bottom to fill in the base!) Then I added my favorite pumpkin clove candles.

Pumpkin Flower Arrangement (Sunny Side Up)

{glass mason jar vase/antiqued round metal tray/marina enamel vase/mini glazed latte bowl}

Remember my pumpkin and flower vase?

Thanksgiving Table (Sunny Side Up)

I used that for the centerpiece – just minus the flowers and water. Pumpkins only. :)

Thanksgiving Table (Sunny Side Up)

I set my candles in the hurricane vases on the sides of the pumpkin vase and added 4 tall candles along the center of the table too. So nice to use all of the little white pumpkins I had around my home! I spread a few more out along the center of the table.

Thanksgiving Table (Sunny Side Up)

{jute charger/gold flatware/dinnerware set/cane drinking glasses}

I kept my place setting simple using my beloved jute chargers and glasses with these beautiful earth toned dishes.

Thanksgiving Table (Sunny Side Up)

My favorite detail of this Thanksgiving table is the beautiful leafy glam garland with lights! It’s just stunning and I’m using it on one of my Christmas trees this year too! I used two of the garlands for this table but you really only need one. I wrapped it around the front and back of the pumpkin vase so that’s why I used two.

Thanksgiving Table (Sunny Side Up)

I also added some of these beautiful gold votives with tea lights. Really this table shines the most at night!

Thanksgiving Table (Sunny Side Up)

It’s hard to tell in photos (and I’m terrible at night shots!) but between the candles, tea lights and garland it just sparkles!

Thanksgiving Table (Sunny Side Up)

Thanksgiving Table (Sunny Side Up)

And yes! Those are my reindeer out the window lighting up my front porch! I have Christmas going on outside and in every other room of the house. So much fun. This table could easily work for Christmas too. Toss the pumpkins and add some fun bottle brush trees and done!

I hope this table gave you a few ideas for holiday dining! Sorry I’m not more help with the actual meal.

You’re on your own with that one. ;)

Christmas Prep!

*affiliate links used

Christmas Prep (Sunny Side Up)

Happy November! From me and Michael Buble. We’ve been hanging out together in my car since September.. but you knew that. :)

Christmas Prep (Sunny Side Up)

{command hooks}

I hope your month is off to a good start! Batteries, command hooks, garland and twinkle lights are taking over around here and I’m not complaining! I’ll have lots to share soon, but thought I’d pop on to show you a few things I’m using to decorate for the holidays this year. TOO much fun. :) I also wanted to mention that if you want to see items I’m decorating with and sharing day to day AND if you want to see gift guides before they all hit the blog (coming soon!) you can always follow me here on the LTK app! I have lots of fun holiday favorites and gift ideas popping up in the app daily. If you don’t like using the app on your phone (sometimes I just prefer my laptop so I get it!) you can see the same content at the bottom of my blog home page. Scroll to the bottom of my home page and you’ll see “shop my instagram.” If you click on any of those pictures it will take you to the items also. Just an option! I usually post favorites on my blog first, but during this time of year when I’m moving fast with holiday decorating I share things on IG stories and link to the app on the spot. Just thought I’d share that as an option for anyone who didn’t know about it!

Christmas Prep (Sunny Side Up)

{norway faux spruce tree/merry Christmas garland}

This gold Merry Christmas garland is beautiful and you’ll see it in a few spots in my home this year! A fun Amazon find. And yes.. that’s another Norway spruce in my living room (same as my family room tree!). The tree I’ve had in my living room for the past 9 years is finally retired. It’s a tough tree to put up and requires individually adding bulb lights every year (takes me and Kole hours!). After purchasing the spruce tree for my living room and seeing how easy it was to pop up and fan out (seriously takes 10 minutes!) I said DONE with my old tree.

Christmas Prep (Sunny Side Up)

{2021 Christmas tree sources/Christmas living room sources}

RIP hard to set up and take down tree. Thanks for the memories. :)

1- ornament garland   2- glass beaded garland   3-bells garland

4-red beaded garland   5-wood beaded garland   6- beaded garland

7- leafy string garland   8-black beaded garland   9- gold beaded garland

Here are a few other beautiful options for tree garland!

Christmas Prep (Sunny Side Up)

{cedar branch/pine and snowberry branch}

These branches are both beautiful options at a great price. I especially love the cedar branches and can’t wait to style them in a vase!

Christmas Prep (Sunny Side Up)

{bobble striped knit throw/channeled faux fur throw/oversized basket weave knit throw pillow/Christmas tree lumbar pillow/sweater fleck lumbar throw pillow}

These are two recent favorite throws (also great prices) and they would make beautiful holiday gifts. The bobble knit throw comes in 4 colors and I love the texture it adds! The faux fur throw is SO good. It’s soft, has a beautiful silk lining and is very high end looking! I would have guessed it was from Pottery Barn if I hadn’t found it at Target. :) I picked up some fun new pillows and set them with the pillows I was using for fall. Just playing around with different combinations at the moment!

Christmas Prep (Sunny Side Up)

{28″ cedar sprigs faux wire wreath}

These are all quick cell phone pics so sorry about the bad lighting but we don’t care because the hoop wreaths are back! YEA! My favorite. I love these wreaths so much because they are so easy to hang! Pop them on a light fixture, a cupboard handle.. anywhere really. I love the look too! They are so pretty. This wreath above is my favorite. I have 4 and use them in my formal dining room and on these lights in my entry every year.

Christmas Prep (Sunny Side Up)

{asymmetrical mixed greenery wreath/28″ cedar sprigs faux wire wreath/18″ pine sprigs asymmetrical wire wreath/8″ juniper wreath}

The wreath on the top left is new this year and so pretty for fall decorating too. The little smaller hoop wreaths are also fun and easy to use around the house. I’ll show you soon what I’m doing with several! I ordered the small juniper wreaths for the backs of chairs and they sold out for now. The hoop wreaths sold out FAST last year so order quickly if you want one!

Christmas Prep (Sunny Side Up)

{set 3 cyprus wreaths}

I’m returning these wreaths because I was thinking they would be larger (they didn’t work in the spot I wanted to put them) but they are so cute! A fun option for a window or door.

Christmas Prep (Sunny Side Up)

{metal house village/ceramic tree/black metal houses}

Lots of Target favorites so far and these black houses take the cake! You can buy a set of 3 with some trees or buy individual houses. Too cute.. I’m in love!

Christmas Prep (Sunny Side Up)

They come with tea lights already in them! The only bummer for me about this is I want the lights on a timer so I’m either going to take out the tea lights and put in these tea lights that have timers OR I’ll add some twinkle lights in the back. Still figuring that one out, but regardless, you’ll see where I’m using these black houses soon. :)

1- white ceramic houses   2-village houses   3- metal house village

4-  ceramic houses  5- village tealight candleholders   6- winter village

I love village houses and rounded up my favorites above!

1-metal house ornaments   2-wooden house ornaments

3-lighted tree ornaments   4-house tree ornaments

Little house tree ornaments are also favorites around here. :)

Christmas Prep (Sunny Side Up)

Starting to pull village pieces out! I think I’m going to put the white houses in my kitchen cupboard again like I did last year. I love how it lit up at night!

Christmas Prep (Sunny Side Up)

{tree cutting board/reindeer tea light candle holders/timer tea lights}

Speaking of lights.. how adorable are these little reindeer candle holders!? I have a thing for reindeer. But you already knew that. :)

Christmas Prep (Sunny Side Up)

{bronze sculpted reindeer}

Here are a few other reindeer I have a crush on this year! These modern reindeer are too much fun. I ordered them on-line a while ago and thought they would be heavy because they are metal but they are actually really light weight. So skinny! :)

Christmas Prep (Sunny Side Up)

{zinc holiday reindeer}

These reindeer are also favorites and look so cute on shelves and tables.

Christmas Prep (Sunny Side Up)

{gold candle holders}

These gold candle holders are so beautiful! I’m using them on my tables this year for my holiday party.

Christmas Prep (Sunny Side Up)

{tan bottlebrush trees/antiqued metal tray}

I also have these cute little bottle brush trees in a few spots. :)

1-bottle brush tree   2- white and silver trees   3- red/burgundy trees

4- sage/silver trees   5- green trees   6 – sisal bottle brush tree

7- set of trees   8-green sisal tree   9-warm gold trees

A few other fun bottle brush tree options! Below are more Target favorites.. so many cute things for the holidays this year! Anyone else decorating this weekend?

There is nothing like turning on some Christmas music and decking the halls. :)

1-mistletoe pillow   2-boucle throw pillow

3- pine with juniper wreath   4- cypress wreaths   5-knit throw blanket

6- woven tree skirt   7- pine garland   8-  extra long pine garland

9 – bottlebrush trees tan  10-cream knit stocking

1-green knit stocking   2- ceramic candle holder

3-tree square pillow   4-mixed greenery wreath   5-lumbar pillow

Fall Fashion

Fall Fashion (Sunny Side Up)

{flutter sleeve dress/mumbai runner/kitchen sources}

Happy weekend! I hope you are enjoying it so far! The Halloween festivities are in full swing and my kids are excited! I’m excited too. Mostly just to eat their candy and bring out more Christmas decor. It’s a happy weekend for all. ;)

I’ve been snapping selfies of what I’ve been wearing and loving for weeks and haven’t had time to share any of them so forgive me for the major selfie dump. But Fall fashion! It’s my favorite.

Fall Fashion (Sunny Side Up)

{mock turtleneck sweater/AG jeans/similar pointed toe boot}

We’re finally enjoying some “sweater weather” and it feels amazing. Really the temps only dropped a few degrees but there is a chill in the air and it’s enough to get everyone in San Diego excited and pulling out all things cozy. I can only wear this sweater in the morning because afternoons are still warm but I’ll take it! It’s so soft and cute. A major Target score and I’m tempted to get it in cream too!

Fall Fashion (Sunny Side Up)

{pullover sweater/AG jeans/madewell canvas tote/similar totes/similar boots/initial pendant necklace/fall porch sources}

BUT I already have this cream sweater and absolutely love it. A little more of a splurge but when you try it on you won’t want to take it off. Such a good fit! I love the wide neckline and sleeves too.

Fall Fashion (Sunny Side Up)

Here’s a closer look so that you can see the ribbed detail. Perfection!

Fall Fashion (Sunny Side Up)

{rib dolman sleeve sweater/paige high waist wide leg pants/initial pendant necklace/similar wedge sandals}

These pants! They are so much fun. Really this picture doesn’t do them justice. They are CUTE in person. They have a high waist and a wide leg and are so soft and comfortable. This sweater is on its way out (I bought it during the N sale) but it’s such a great fit. I have it in two colors and have been in one or the other at least once a week this month!

Fall Fashion (Sunny Side Up)

{rib dolman sleeve sweater/AG jeans/initial pendant necklace}

Color #2. :)

Fall Fashion (Sunny Side Up)

{puff shoulder shift dress/similar madewell belt/similar over the knee boot}

Ok.. when I first tried this dress on I hated it! It has no shape and is HUGE (I’m wearing an xxs and it still felt big!) but I decided to buy it because I love the colors/print and I wanted to take it home to try on with a belt. I was so glad I did! I LOVE it with a belt! It gathers so cute. I ended up wearing it for our family pictures this year. It’s on sale too! Size down and add a belt and you will love it! This will be a fall favorite in my closet for years to come.

Fall Fashion (Sunny Side Up)

{somerset chiffon dress/initial pendant necklace/similar sandal}

This is the dress I originally bought for our family pictures. It’s so beautiful and I love how it fits! I ended up choosing the navy dress above because this was too hard to coordinate family outfits with (I was shopping closets at the last minute!) but I’m so glad I have this for dressy events. Anthro has a collection of “somerset dresses” and it’s basically this same style of dress in lots of different fabrics, patterns and lengths. You might remember the green dress I bought over the summer from the same collection. They are beautiful and would be great for holiday parties! Especially the velvet! You can see the collection here.

Fall Fashion (Sunny Side Up)

{juliette sweater-blazer/initial pendant necklace/AG jeans/over the knee boots}

Ok this sweater-blazer! It’s on sale this weekend and is so good! I don’t usually even wear items like this because it’s on the dressy side (I’m more of a cardigan girl!) but this had me at hello. It’s such a good fit and just classy. One of those staples I know I’ll have and love for years. It can be worn so many different ways. I mostly wear it with a tee and boots but it would be beautiful over a dress as more of a coat and would also work with joggers and sneakers! I would size down one (I’m wearing the xxs) unless you plan on wearing it over sweaters.

Fall Fashion (Sunny Side Up)

{long sleeve tee/initial pendant necklace/AG jeans/dixie waterproof boot}

If you need a good long sleeve tee this style has been a favorite of mine the past two years. I have it in multiple colors and it’s great to layer with a vest or coat.

Fall Fashion (Sunny Side Up)

{chateau parka}

Speaking of coat you might remember my favorite from last year. :)

Fall Fashion (Sunny Side Up)

{chateau parka/fall porch sources}

This coat is so good and on sale this weekend! If I lived in a city where I needed a coat daily I would have this same coat in 3 colors. But I don’t. So I just have it in black. :)  (*For shorties like me – I tried this in the petite sizes but didn’t like it because the arms were too short so I went with a regular in size 0).

Fall Fashion (Sunny Side Up)

I wear it whenever it’s chilly enough to pull it off! Out with friends.

Fall Fashion (Sunny Side Up)

And out with the kids. :) It can easily be dressed up or down.

Fall Fashion (Sunny Side Up)

{quarter zip sweatshirt/live in pocket joggers/cross body quilted waist pack/houston sneaker}

This is a fun casual look and the sweatshirt is so cozy! A great Target find. The joggers are gold (I’ve had them for years) and how cute is this crossbody purse!? These types of purses are all the rage right now and I think this is such a cute quilted style for a great price! It would make a really fun Christmas gift too. You could give it to someone on its own or fill it with surprises or a gift card. I’m a fan. :)

Fall Fashion (Sunny Side Up)

{peachy pajamas/cozy knit slippers}

Ending our fall fashion post with my favorite outfit of all.. pajamas! Shocker I know. These pjs are almost good enough to make me want to never buy another pair of pajamas again! (But let’s not put that in writing.) ;)  They are PJ salvage so enough said! Always the coziest pjs and the best fit. I have basically lived in these for the past month and a half. My husband will testify. I can’t wait to change out of jeans and into these every evening. These slippers are favorites from last year that are back in stock. They sold out quickly so I was happy to see them back again this year! Both the slippers and pjs would be fun Christmas gifts too.

Alright friends. Back to all things Christmas Halloween!

I’m trying. ONE MORE DAY.

;)

Holiday Gift Ideas

*This post sponsored by Walmart. All product selections and opinions are my own!

October is winding down and I honestly can’t believe it! It feels like the kids just started school doesn’t it!? I’m excited for the Halloween fun this weekend/Monday and even more excited for Tuesday, November 1st when I officially break out ALL THINGS Christmas, blast the holiday music and go to town decorating! Ok ok.. confession. I’ve been listening to Christmas music for over a month and two trees are up, but that’s really it and for me (as you all know) that is showing some serious restraint. Ha. ;)

Regardless of if you bust out the garland before or after Thanksgiving, we can probably all agree that starting the holiday shopping early pays off BIG time. If you’ve downloaded my free holiday planner you know exactly how I divide and tackle my shopping this time of year and I’m excited to be making progress on my lists!  I’m going to share lots of fun holiday gift ideas with you over the next two months (I love finding the perfect gift for people in my life!) and I’m starting today with a few fun gifts I put together from Walmart.

{woven basket/shower loofah/pantene shampoo/pantene conditioner/make-up brush/powder sponge/cherry blossom bath fizzies/cherry blossom body cream/

natural ribbon}

Bath and beauty products always make a fun gift but, as someone who loves to organize I wanted to take that tried and true gift idea one step further! This divided woven basket is perfect to hold bathroom products and is such a cute way to present this gift. When I was tying the ribbon on this last night Addison came down the stairs and said “ahhh mom! Who is that for!? Can I have the bath stuff!? And the make-up brush!? And everything else!? I want this gift!” I thought well! My work here is done. Gift #1 was a hit. Especially for teen girls! ;)

{natural weave basket set/day designer planner/weekly meal planner/natural ribbon}

Following the same idea I used this cute basket set (that is perfect for office organization!) to hold a cute yearly planner, meal plan planner and some pencils. Now this is a gift I would geek out about! Nothing like ending 2022 with fun supplies to kick off 2023! :)

{wood cake stand/kitchen towel set}

This next idea is for someone who loves to bake! I love this simple wood cake stand and you could pair it with so many fun things! I just added this kitchen towel/hot pad set but you could also get creative with a fun cake mix and rolling pin or cookie cutters, measuring cups, or cute spatulas and spoons. Anything related to cooking/baking would work! The bonus is that this cake stand doubles as beautiful kitchen decor when it’s not being used for cakes. :)

I just wrapped this up with some cellophane and ribbon.

{red plaid velvet sherpa throw/black plaid velvet sherpa throw}

Last idea for today is another gift I would be thrilled to receive! These cozy velvet sherpa throws are incredibly soft! So perfect to wrap up in to watch.. I don’t know.. maybe a Hallmark movie?

Or two or three. :)

{rattan open weave round basket/black & natural basket with leather handles}

If you really want to splurge on someone take it one step further and put your cozy throw in a cute basket! These are two favorite baskets that I can’t wait to decorate with this holiday season. So cute right!? Walmart has so many cute baskets on-line right now. I love them both and I’m willing to bet that most people who love home decor would be excited about this gift too. There are some things you just can’t have too many of.. cozy throws and baskets are definitely on that list!

Along with cherry ice chapstick, popcorn and the color green. ;)

I hope these gift ideas are helpful! I love that they take just a little extra time to put together. Not always necessary, but a fun way to say I’ve been thinking of you and you mean a lot to me this holiday season. :)

Enjoy your day and if you haven’t downloaded my holiday planner you can do that here! A little bit of early planning goes a long way. The madness is just around the corner and we will THRIVE this year. Are you with me!? I know that you are!

BRING. IT. ON.

:)

Fall/Halloween Porch

Sharing my Fall/Halloween porch today! Even though we’re over half way through October and many of you (if you’re anything like me) are planning your Christmas porch already! I’ve had it decorated for a few weeks but haven’t had time to share it until now. My little buddy helped wash our pumpkins as is our tradition! Although it was a much shorter activity than usual since we are always trying to be careful with water these days. Plus he’s now in middle school! Watering all the things just isn’t as exciting as it once was.. ha. Luckily the actual pumpkin/lantern washing only takes about 2 minutes so it’s a tradition I think will stand the test of time. ;)

{flutter sleeve dress}

Last year I mixed things up and went with a green and white fall porch so this year I decided to go back to tried and true orange. You just can’t lose with orange in the fall! This cute flutter sleeve dress is a recent Target find I’ve been wearing. It’s so casual and comfortable and comes in other colors too. Would be cute for fall family pictures! Or to wear standing next to orange pumpkins on a fall porch. :)

I had my porch like this for fall for a couple of weeks and then..

Fall/Halloween Porch (Sunny Side Up)

 {lighted maple trees/tree baskets/jute rug/orange outdoor rug/cream & brown stripe rug/caleb metal lanterns/bats/happy halloween garland}

decided to add some bats and this cute happy halloween garland. Now we’re ready for trick or treating!

Fall/Halloween Porch (Sunny Side Up)

These lighted maple trees are just too much fun!

Fall/Halloween Porch (Sunny Side Up)

They looks so cute in baskets next to a wheat bundle and some pumpkins.

Fall/Halloween Porch (Sunny Side Up)

I layered 3 rugs.. the jute rug I’ve had on my porch for a year with this fun orange outdoor rug and this cream & brown stripe rug. I also added my long time tried and true metal lanterns that alway make an appearance this time of year. :)

Fall/Halloween Porch (Sunny Side Up)

But my favorite part of this porch is how it looks when the sun starts to go down.

Fall/Halloween Porch (Sunny Side Up)

And when it’s completely dark. I love the trees!

Aren’t they beautiful!? I snapped these pics quickly with my phone.. they light up so pretty at night. I usually just have lights on my porch/house for Christmas so it feels extra special enjoying them early this year. :)

Holiday Planner (Sunny Side Up)

Hello and welcome to the new Sunny Side Up! Which is pretty much the old Sunny Side Up with some fun new features. ;) I’m so grateful to be here chatting with you all today and done with this website re-design! My assistant/friend Vanessa and I worked around the clock for 3 days straight to get all of my content set up and organized on the new site. Kids were fending for themselves, husbands covered all after school activities and I went way too long without washing my hair. Ha. But it’s done! I so hope you like it. Spend some time on the home page and click around! I’m still adding and tweaking things here and there (please let me know if something isn’t working right!) but you’ll see that there are different sections set up for different things like a section with all of my current and past posts, a section for home sources, a section for all of my organization posts, etc. If you click the button (on the right of the top of the page) labeled SHOP I have a fun shop page set up too! I’ll be updating this often with things I’m loving and I have it broken down in categories (home, organization, fashion and right now.. HOLIDAY!).

Speaking of holiday, my annual holiday planner is ready to download! I designed this planner years ago to help all of us stay organized during the busiest season of the year. A little planning ahead makes a huge difference! Some years I use the entire planner front to back and other years I just use certain pages. It’s so nice to have a set place for all of my lists, party plans, gift ideas, etc. With the blog re-vamp I decided my holiday planner needed a little re-fresh too and I hope you like the green! Mostly I just hope it helps you stay organized so that you can enjoy the holidays. :) You can download my holiday planner HERE by joining my e-mail list. If you’re already on my list just enter your information again (it won’t add you twice) and you’ll get instant access to my printable library. At the moment my printable library only has this one printable in it.. ha. I decided to pause and wash my hair and feed my kids so the rest of my home/organizing printables will be coming soon. ;)

October is flying by and before we blink it will be time to decorate for the holidays! I’m so excited. My husband trains all year to run marathons. Well.. holiday decorating is the marathon I train for all year. You too? BRING IT ON. :) I’ve been checking out all of the good holiday decor popping up on-line and I rounded up fun decor I’m loving below! I’ll be back to all things fall in my next post, but some items (like my beloved cedar garland!) are close to selling out or on major backorder so I wanted to share this early for those of you (who like me) are training too. ;)

Our friends just bought one after using ours and love it too. These sheets are long time favorites and I just ordered the henley for Kenny and the sweatshirt for me. Good deals!

Christmas Favorites (Sunny Side Up)

{Norway 9′ faux spruce tree/burgundy wood bead garland/gold bead garland (similar here)/glitter star ornaments/gold ball ornaments/star drop ornaments/gold star}

My tree is back in stock this year! It’s honestly the most beautiful tree! It’s also SO easy to assemble. I had it put together and ready to decorate in 10 minutes! I’ve never owned a tree this size that is so easy to put together. And the lights! They are absolutely stunning and have different settings. I know it’s a splurge, but if you are considering it and on the fence I’m telling you that you will LOVE this tree. (It comes in a 7 foot size too.) I linked the ornaments I used last year and honestly I don’t want to change much this year! I could go in a totally different direction (I never really know what I’m doing until I start playing around with decor) but I would also be so happy with this same look because I really loved it last year. Is this making anyone else excited!? I can’t wait to pull my trees out! Speaking of trees.. below are a few other fun options for decorating along with more of my Mcgee favorites!

McGee & Co (the sunny)

1- brown brush tree   2- pre-lit faux tree   3- wicker mantel tree   4- faux cedar tree

2021 Holiday Planner (Sunny Side Up){bell options here/here/here}

Ok.. let’s talk garland! These two I’ve shared time and time again. They are my favorites! My beloved faux cedar garland mixed with my favorite eucalyptus garland. The sad news is that my faux cedar garland sold out in the 9 ft and the 6 ft is on major backorder. The happy news is that I’m seeing a lot of similar beautiful options popping up on-line!

1-pine garland   2-norfolk pine garland   3- faux cyprus garland PB   4- eucalyptus garland

5- faux cyprus garland C&B   6- faux hemlock pine   7- faux cedar garland

These are other beautiful, realistic options I’ve found! The good garland is always the first thing to go and I bet a lot of these options will sell out soon too. If you know you want faux garland this year don’t wait to order it!

1-cedar garland   2-norfolk pine garland  3-pine garland

4-cedar pine   5- pine branch  6- faux juniper

Afloral has beautiful options this year too and as I’m writing this they have 20% off of all of their greenery with the code PINE. Woot woot! I love these 3 branch options too.. one of my favorite things to decorate with! This cedar greenery looks identical to mine (a little shorter but less expensive too!).

SO many cute things at Crate & Barrel this year. Many of the items below I bought last year and can’t wait to pull out again!

1- faux cypress swag   2- serving board   3-ceramic ranch house   4- cutting board

5- textured tree ornaments   6- caramel fur stocking   7- string lights   8-reindeer

Crate & Barrel (the sunny)

1-metallic ornaments   2-  star tree topper   3- faux potted cypress tree  4- star ornament

5-snowfake serving board   6- cypress garland   7-holiday houses   8-wood bead garland

Pottery Barn’s Christmas selection never disappoints! I honestly narrowed my favorites down although it’s hard to tell. I could have easily made 5 more collages!

1- handknit stockings   2- pine wreath garland

3-tabletop pine trees   4- faux eucalyptus garland

1-faux berry bundle   2-glass candleholders   3-reindeer

4- snowy pine trees   5- merry salad plate  6- Christmas village

Are you excited and feeling the holiday magic by now? Mission accomplished!

Plan ahead and then back to pumpkins we go.

;)

Pumpkins, Paintings, Parties & Pasta

Fall Updates (Sunny Side Up)

Happy October! The pumpkin month! It’s finally here. :) I’m sharing some random fall fun today, but first I have an announcement! Sunny Side Up is getting a new look! I’ve been working on updating my website for months and sometime toward the end of this week (hopefully!) my updated website will go live. My goal with the new website is to make it easier for you to find things you are looking for (home decor ideas, home sources, past posts, organizing inspo, new products I’m loving, etc.). It will be a more organized Sunny Side Up! A little organization is always a good thing. :) I hope that you like it! I also hope that I survive this switch because it will be quite a learning curve for me and given my background in tech (there is none.. I hate it) this might not be my favorite week ever. Ha. ;) My website will be down for a couple of days during the transfer so if you try to visit and can’t pull up my blog that’s why! Keep checking back and at some point we will be live again.

Ok.. back to all things pumpkin. I picked up a few for the front porch!

Fall Updates (Sunny Side Up)

{green handloom with fringe/scatter stripe accent rug/geometric orange rug}

Here’s a look at a few things I’m using for my fall porch. I ordered this orange rug and then found this cute tan rug last time I was at Target so I’ll use one (or maybe layer them both!). The green fringe rug was LOVE at first sight so I immediately bought it for my Christmas porch. Then I got home and went to put it away in my mudroom closet and guess what I found? The exact same rug! I must have bought it a few weeks ago.. ha. Clearly I’m a fan. And now I have one for the side mudroom door too. :)

Fall Updates (Sunny Side Up)

{lighted maple tree}

I’m also using these fun faux maple trees I found on Amazon! So cute. I love that they light up and can’t wait to see them at night. The trunk/base is a little fake looking so I’ll put them in a basket and surround them with pumpkins. Fall porch coming soon!

Fall Updates (Sunny Side Up)

A couple of weeks ago I hosted a fall friendship night for my church. A few friends of mine took over my kitchen to prepare all of the food while I got the yard ready.

Fall Updates (Sunny Side Up)

The prep squad. :)

Fall Updates (Sunny Side Up)

They set up a caramel apple bar with lots of fun toppings. Did you know that if you soak apples in lemon juice it keeps them fresh so they don’t turn brown? Just soak your apples in lemon juice for 3-5 minutes and then take them out and you are good to go! Genius. I didn’t know that so I had to share for anyone else who didn’t!

Fall Updates (Sunny Side Up)

Katy made the most beautiful charcuterie board! She is a close friend and the master chef behind all of my parties. Thanks goodness for her because without her we would have beautiful tables with no food. Ha. ;)

Fall Updates (Sunny Side Up)

Fall Updates (Sunny Side Up)

It was a fun night! I was so grateful for all of the extra outdoor furniture I picked up over the summer so that I had places for everyone to sit.

Fall Updates (Sunny Side Up)

{santorini urn/faux oversized bleached oak branch/wren serving bowl/fields of gold print/classic taper candles/

lorin taper holders/similar console table/similar seagrass baskets}

My new fall art finally arrived! Isn’t it pretty!? I love the colors and the gold frame.

Fall Updates (Sunny Side Up)

{fields of gold print}

Fall Updates (Sunny Side Up)

I also ordered it in a black frame because I wasn’t sure which I would like better, but the gold wins for this console table set up. I might use the black framed art in my bedroom. I wanted to share both options because it’s a good price on a beautiful print that can be used year round. Interesting how the two different frames pull out different colors in the print too isn’t it!? You get a totally different look with a different frame.

Fall Updates (Sunny Side Up)

{dreary abstract landscape canvas}

This was the art I originally had on my console table. I still love this print too! It just doesn’t scream “fall” as much as the new art and we are all about screaming fall this time of year. ;) Really though both prints work beautifully year round and I’m sure they will rotate through multiple rooms in my home over time.

Fall Updates (Sunny Side Up)

Fall Updates (Sunny Side Up)

I was in the mood to bake or cook last weekend and ended up doing both! I’m all or nothing around here and usually when it comes to food prep.. I’m nothing. Ha. But fall always inspires comfort food and good smells so I made my long time favorite banana bread muffins (recipe here).

Fall Updates (Sunny Side Up)

Then I made Tri-color-pasta.. an easy favorite at my house. I shared it on IG and lots of people wanted the recipe so I’ll post it here for reference. I remembered sharing it on my blog years ago and found the post here. It made me laugh! I originally shared this recipe in 2009. Kenny was teasing me about cooking and I was spilling legal jargon. Some things never change. :) But here it is again because if you haven’t made this you need to! My kids all love it and so do their friends! You just need one pkg of Jimmy Dean pork sausage, an onion, Penne pasta, broccoli (fresh or frozen), tomato sauce and Italian Stewed tomatoes.

Fall Updates (Sunny Side Up)

Brown one pkg Jimmy Dean pork sausage w/ your chopped onion.

Fall Updates (Sunny Side Up)

Then in a separate bowl cook your pasta half way and then drain it and set it to the side.

Fall Updates (Sunny Side Up)

Cook your broccoli half way and drain it.

Fall Updates (Sunny Side Up)

Then in the pan combine the sausage with onion, pasta, broccoli and add stewed tomatoes and tomato sauce. Cook on low for a while finishing the pasta and broccoli. You can also sprinkle with garlic, oregano, and parmesan cheese on top but I’ve made it without and it’s great too! Really you can’t mess this up and can add as much as you want of everything. I always double this because it gets eaten so quickly so I use 2 of everything (2 sausages, 2 boxes of pasta, 2 bags of frozen broccoli, etc.). The recipe is written out better in my last post but it’s just a simple throw it all together meal that tastes so good!

Fall Updates (Sunny Side Up)

My kids’ friends always eat this and say “I usually don’t like broccoli but I love it in this!” It makes me feel so happy like I’m a real chef. One who gets kids to eat vegetables! The feeling has to last for about 6 months until the mood strikes and I make this or my banana bread muffins again because they are my easy go-to’s on repeat that I know I can win with. :)

Fall Updates (Sunny Side Up)

We had a fun weekend in my hometown! I flew in with the kids late and we just had one full day there, but Kenny ran a marathon and we got to see Ellie so even though it was short it was so good! I’m so proud of my husband. He has worked so hard to get to a place where he can run these races. He said he is retired after this one but we’ll see. I’ve heard that before!

Fall Updates (Sunny Side Up)

Fall Updates (Sunny Side Up)

I on the other hand will never run a marathon. My knees wouldn’t allow that! Plus it’s more fun to be the cheer squad on the sidelines with a diet coke and some chips. Ha. Who wants to join me?

Fall Updates (Sunny Side Up)

We had the best day all together again! Seeing El was just what we all needed. :)

Fall Updates (Sunny Side Up)

Kenny and I celebrated 25 years of marriage this September! I can’t believe it. I’m so grateful to be doing life with my favorite person.

Fall Updates (Sunny Side Up)

Fall Updates (Sunny Side Up)

Signing off with my front yard flowers because they have really been showing off lately! I love this time of year. I hope your October is off to a good start! I’ll be back soon with a new look for Sunny Side Up just in time to head into the holidays! If I don’t come back soon with a new website just know that I died from too much HTML code and that I love you all very much.

;)

Fall in the Kitchen

*affiliate links used

Fall Kitchen (Sunny Side Up)

I hope you had a nice weekend! I’m kicking off this week on the blog with some fall touches in my kitchen. I spent a good part of my weekend cooking and baking (yes, it’s me typing this) so it seems only fitting to share this space today. Especially since I now have a fridge full of food and the mess cleaned up and pressure is off to cook and bake again for a while. Maybe until next fall. Ha!

A girl can dream. ;)

Fall Kitchen (Sunny Side Up)

{hanover pendants}

Fall Kitchen (Sunny Side Up)

{antiqued metal decorative tray/matte gray tapered jar/faux rust leaf branch/marina enamel vase/small canister}

My pumpkin vase with real flowers was beautiful for the week it lasted! Currently I have these pretty items displayed. The canister is such a perfect little fall accent. I have one in my living room too!

Fall Kitchen (Sunny Side Up)

Fall Kitchen (Sunny Side Up)

{antiqued metal decorative tray/ayla decorative bowl/faux pinecones/footed wood serve bowl/gold serving set/similar crock utensil holder}

I didn’t change much here (still loving my metal tray in this spot!) but I did switch out my lemons for pinecones.

Fall Kitchen (Sunny Side Up)

{marble cake stand/pumpkin clove candle/spectrum pitcher/handwoven serving tray/rounded terracotta jug}

I need my favorite fall candle close and love having it on this cake stand ready to go.

Fall Kitchen (Sunny Side Up)

{summer pasture framed wall art}

This little print is so perfect for fall and not expensive at all! It adds a little warmth to this space and would also look great styled on a book shelf.

Fall Kitchen (Sunny Side Up)

{over the mantel mirror/dried wheat wreath/rectangle board/round pizza paddle}

My new wheat wreath ended up over my mirror. I just wanted it somewhere I would see every day! It’s absolutely stunning in person.

Fall Kitchen (Sunny Side Up)

{mumbai runner}

I’ve had this runner for years (you might remember when it lived in my mudroom). It’s a favorite.. thick & soft & amazing quality and it’s on sale at the moment! Comes in larger sizes too. I love the tan/black/cream combo!

Fall Kitchen (Sunny Side Up)

{hicks pendant}

Fall Kitchen (Sunny Side Up)

{faux olive branches/minka textured pot/acacia modern serving bowl/similar gold pinecones}

My beloved olive branches are never far and same with my textured minka pot! The black bowl is a new find.. I discovered this bowl with an entire set of modern serve ware and fell hard! I ended up buying the bowls in all 3 sizes (this bowl is the largest) because aside from being perfect for entertaining they are so good for decorating! Some simple gold pinecones worked perfectly in this large bowl.

Fall Kitchen (Sunny Side Up)

{antique dough bowl}/real pumpkins (similar small faux pumpkins)}

On the other side of my window I just placed some white pumpkins in a dough bowl. Simple wins. Every time. :)

Fall Kitchen (Sunny Side Up)

{large glass canister & wood lid/small glass canister & wood lid/extra small glass canister & wood lid}

Along with my modern black bowls I also landed on these cute canisters during my last Target run. I love the wooden lids and instantly thought “these would be so perfect to hold Ellie’s oatmeal and brown sugar!” (She eats oatmeal for breakfast every day.. has for years.) Before I knew it I was holding a canister and tearing up in the middle of a Target aisle! I laughed a little at myself knowing how ridiculous I looked and hurried and wiped my eyes. Missing her hits at very random times for me. I set the canisters back feeling depressed and then thought forget that.. I’m buying them! I’ll just set up an oatmeal station for her for when she comes to visit! Of course Kenny and the other kids occasionally eat oatmeal and will use it too.. but really it’s out because it makes me happy every day when I see it. A little reminder of my sweet college girl. :)

Fall Kitchen (Sunny Side Up)

{aged iron bowl/black wood cheese board}

Addison saw this set up (an oatmeal station shrine dedicated to Ellie) and shook her head and said “you’re losing it mom.” Ha. I probably am! But if an oatmeal station with cute canisters is what it takes to get me back to my happy place in Target then so be it! I can think of worse things.

Like cooking.

Fall Kitchen (Sunny Side Up)

{hicks pendant/peyton dish towel}

Besides.. the canisters and sugar work well with my rug. Not planned but I’ll take it. :)

Fall Kitchen (Sunny Side Up)

{abbott indoor/outdoor dining table/similar side chairs/nottaway chandelier/BHG stripe rug/artisan vase/pampas grass/woven tray}

I shared this beautiful rug and table in my last post! This pampas grass I’ve had for a couple of years (an Amazon favorite!). I look forward to having it displayed every fall. So pretty!

Fall Kitchen (Sunny Side Up)

{eloise woven counter stool}

Fall Kitchen (Sunny Side Up)

{peyton dish towel}

Fall Kitchen (Sunny Side Up)

The shelves in my butler’s pantry got a little fall glow up too!

Fall Kitchen (Sunny Side Up)

{similar black pitcher/seagrass pitcher/treasure & bond cheese board/marble & wood serving board/minka textured pot/black trivet/ceramic pumpkin/dinnerware}

Lots of favorite items I just shopped my house for and then I added some of the beautiful new dinnerware I just bought also. Practical meets pretty!

Fall Kitchen (Sunny Side Up)

{similar pizza paddle/faux eucalyptus stems/dinnerware}

These faux branches are another gorgeous option for fall! They are actually tall and long but I folded the bottom stems and displayed them coming out of this vase and draping off the sides and I love the look! That’s the best part about faux branches. You can use them to create any look you want. Well.. the best part is actually that they don’t need water and can’t die on you, but the second best part? That you can use them to create any look you want. :)

Fall Kitchen (Sunny Side Up)

{platters & boards/savor/dinnerware/seagrass glasses/similar wooden cake stand}

Fall Kitchen (Sunny Side Up)

Fall Kitchen (Sunny Side Up)

That completes my fall kitchen tour! Like I said, simple is always best. It doesn’t take much to bring some fun seasonal touches into a space.

Plus it’s good for the soul! And your mood.

And in my opinion.. much better than cooking.

:)

Recent Walmart Favorites

{This post is sponsored by Walmart. All product selections and opinions are my own!}

Fall Favorites (Sunny Side Up)

Happy Saturday!

Fall Favorites (Sunny Side Up)

{BHG stripe rug}

Popping in with a few recent Walmart favorites today and they are GOOD. I ordered this new rug for fall for my dining nook and I have to say.. it is a definitely a winner! My friend was over when I laid it down and she snapped this picture while I was straightening it after we put the table back. Then she thought about where she could put this rug in her house too! I fell in love with the stripes and neutral, causal vibe when I ordered it on-line and was just hoping it wasn’t too scratchy (as rugs with a jute vibe often are!). Not only is it not scratchy.. it’s incredibly soft. Softer than any rug I’ve ever had in this space and my kids noticed it immediately! We all like walking on it barefoot. :)

Fall Favorites (Sunny Side Up)

I love the tassels too. Plus it can be used outside which means it’s a low maintenance easy to clean rug. The best kind. :)

Fall Favorites (Sunny Side Up)

With this new rug and updated light fixture this space feels so much lighter and brighter! Simple changes make a big difference don’t they?

Fall Favorites (Sunny Side Up)

{BHG blanc de blanc dinnerware}

Ok.. this set of dishes is crazy good for the price! They are beautiful, great quality (heavy stoneware) and aside from being perfect every day dishes, the neutral cream and brown also make them perfect fall dinner party dishes. I’m using them in my fall tablescape this year and will share it soon! These dishes come in a set of 4 (this shows what comes in one set) so I ordered two sets for a total of 8. I love plates that have a lip around them almost like a shallow bowl. Easier to eat things like pasta! These would be beautiful for Thanksgiving if you are hosting too.

Fall Favorites (Sunny Side Up)

The two toned look sold me again. So good!

Fall Favorites (Sunny Side Up)

{BHG Abbott dinner dishes/pumpkin bowls}

They are very similar to this set I shared earlier with my pumpkin bowls. Also a two toned look but these have more of a shiny finish with white plates. (My pumpkin bowls are out of stock at the moment and I have a feeling the modern blanc de blanc dinnerware will sell out quickly too.)

Fall Favorites (Sunny Side Up)

I’m in the mood to bake or cook this weekend! A rare sensation for me.. ha. It only hits in the fall and doesn’t last long so I’m planning on seizing the day tomorrow and making something. What I’m cooking I don’t know, but something that makes my kitchen smell good! I know the suspense is killing you. ;) This fall charcuterie board would be fun to snack on during Sunday football so I might have to make it again soon too.

Fall Favorites (Sunny Side Up)

{water hyacinth baskets/knitted throw blanket}

These water hyacinth baskets are my next Walmart favorite. So beautiful and they come in a set of 2 (this is the large size and it’s perfect for fall throws!).

Fall Favorites (Sunny Side Up)

Our homework game with Kole is strong this year (at least that’s what we’re telling ourselves daily.. ha) so we set up this fun homework station for him at the beginning of the school year to help keep him on track. Kole really wanted this jurassic wold stationery bundle but asked if he could just use it at home. Ahhh middle school. And so begins caring way too much about what other people think!

Don’t worry bud.. I get it. We are WAY too tough and cool for a dinosaur binder.

At least at school we are. ;)

Fall Favorites (Sunny Side Up)

{mesh desk organizer/jurassic wold stationery bundle}

He likes to do his homework in the kitchen and other random spots in our house (basically everywhere but the home office!) so now he has everything he needs in this fun organizer. It even has has a side pocket for his notecards. You know how much I geeked out over this set up. :)

Fall Favorites (Sunny Side Up)

{pleat shoulder sweater}

And last but not least a few cute recent tops I’ve been wearing! This pleat shoulder sweater is my #1 go-to top lately. It’s lightweight and so soft. Perfect for early fall while it’s still warm outside. I love the sleeves!

Fall Favorites (Sunny Side Up)

I love it so much that after reaching for the almond colored sweater over and over I finally ordered it again in cream. :)

Fall Favorites (Sunny Side Up)

{sleeveless ruffle top}

This sleeveless ruffle top is also great for early fall while the temps are warm. So cute!

Fall Favorites (Sunny Side Up)

{square neck sweater}

Of course I’ve never met a green sweater I didn’t love. :) I’ll have to patiently wait to wear this one! It’s soft and warm and perfect for chilly fall days. Which aren’t coming quickly enough around here.

Fall Favorites (Sunny Side Up)

{raglan long-sleeved sweater}

This is another really cute sweater. It comes in lots of colors but I love wearing this orange/brown color in the fall. It just feels right doesn’t it!? Pumpkins patch photo ready at any given moment. ;) So if you see me on IG stories in orange/brown sweaters over and over and over again during the next few months you’ll have to forgive me. At least it’s a break from all things green!

Unlike most middle schoolers I stopped trying to be cool a LONG time ago.

Family room – signs of fall

Fall Family Room (Sunny Side Up)

{roll arm couch/wool jute rug/rattan stool}

This morning I took our garbage out in my pjs before I took Kole to school and the air! It was cool and crisp and felt so good! Cool, crisp air and a few degrees cooler is about all we get as far as seasonal change here in San Diego, but it was enough to put me in the best mood. Fall is here and my family room is feeling cozy. Good times. :) I’ll probably add a few things here and there but thought I’d share what I’ve got going on so far in this space!

Fall Family Room (Sunny Side Up)

{oversized windowpane square throw pillow/woven geo striped throw pillow}

Lots of neutrals – cream, tan, shades of orange and brown.. I’ll take it. :) These two pillows are my two favorites from Target this fall. I have the exact same pillows on my living room couch and love them so much I bought one more of each for the family room. The black windowpane pillow is just the softest (everyone reaches for it during TV time!) and the little geo lumbar pillow is too cute for fall.

Fall Family Room (Sunny Side Up)

{reed striped lumbar pillow/oversized clay striped square pillow/faye linen textured pillow}

I shared a couple of favorite fall pillows from PB a few posts back and here they are on my couch. Love them! I knew the textured linen pillows would look good because I have them in a soft pink too that I use in the spring.  They are a great neutral pillow with lots of texture to toss in with some patterns. The reed striped lumbar pillow is stunning! The large stripe pillow is less expensive but whenever I mix high and low end pillows it elevates the look and everything looks high end. There’s our pillow talk for the day. :)

Fall Family Room (Sunny Side Up)

{oversized woven plaid square throw pillow/faye linen textured pillow/similar dreamy fringe throw/faux olive tree here & here/similar tree basket}

I did the same here.. a Target pillow with a PB pillow and I love the combo. The cute plaid pillow also comes with a matching blanket I have in a basket by my chair (woven plaid throw blanket). I linked my beloved Amazon olive tree too since it’s back in stock and a perfect fall accent in any room.

{chenille knit chestnut throw/eileen coffee table}

Fall Family Room (Sunny Side Up)

{brass metal nesting tray – 26″/glazed terracotta vase/faux wild grass bundle/swift oval serving tray/dried okra vase filler/white ceramic duo candle holder/classic taper candles}

This little arrangement on my coffee table might be my favorite thing in my home this fall! I’m kind of obsessed with this large brass metal tray. It’s HUGE! It actually comes in 3 sizes but this is the largest and I love the look. I’ve shared the beautiful terracotta vase already but isn’t it stunning with this wild grass bundle!? The bundle is all attached so you just set it in the vase and arrange the flowers how you want and done! 5 second decorating and it’s absolutely beautiful. It’s perfect for fall but I’ll definitely pull it out again after the holidays because it’s such a great neutral arrangement that can be used all throughout the year.

Fall Family Room (Sunny Side Up)

Bird’s eye view. :) This little oval tray is another favorite. It will be so cute filled with greenery or ornaments in December too.

{patina farm/live beautiful/down to earth/made for living/cross hatch object}

I just placed some favorite decorating books next to it (these usually live on my coffee table!) and my little hatch object on top.

Fall Family Room (Sunny Side Up)

{santorini urn/faux oversized bleached oak branch/wren serving bowl/real acorns (you can get faux acorns here}

Remember these bleached oak branches I shared earlier!? They are stunning. Truly so beautiful! I only placed two stems in this vase. It could definitely hold more, but I’m really liking more of a sparse look with some breathing room in-between the leaves.  My scalloped bowl is holding acorns from my parent’s yard. I linked some good faux acorns too!

Fall Family Room (Sunny Side Up)

{classic taper candles/lorin taper holders}

I’ve had these candle holders for a while and keep forgetting to share them. I spread them out a little so you can really see them. Such a fun, modern touch!

Fall Family Room (Sunny Side Up)

{similar console table/similar seagrass baskets/dreary abstract landscape canvas}

I ordered a beautiful fall print for this table but it is taking its sweet time getting here! I’m crossing my fingers it arrives soon so that I can enjoy it for a while before the Christmas trees come out. Ha. I’ll keep you posted but in the meantime I’m still enjoying this landscape canvas I put up in the spring. It’s a great neutral print so it works!

Fall Family Room (Sunny Side Up)

{wall clock}

Fall Family Room (Sunny Side Up)

{brass lanterns/flameless candles/brass arched mantel mirror/kamali seagrass basket}

I’d love to add a few things to my mantel but it’s tricky with my console table decor right next to it. Whenever I add items everything starts looking too cluttered for me. Maybe some pumpkins would work. Pumpkins are always a good thing. :)  One thing I’m not moving are my brass lanterns. They are my favorite when it starts getting dark early. My candles are on a timer and they click on around 5 in the evening and give such a beautiful glow! Nothing like candlelight during the holiday months.

Fall Family Room (Sunny Side Up)

{artisan terracotta vase/faux millet bundle/leaf stoneware platter}

A simple vase, branches and leaf platter are on my table behind the couch. I still use this skinny table for snacks at night so I didn’t want to add too much!

Fall Family Room (Sunny Side Up)

{amarolo narrow console table/roll arm couch/wool jute rug/rattan stool}

Just enough to feel cozy. :)

Fall Family Room (Sunny Side Up)

{simplicity/AD at 100/abstract gold figurine/stoneware planter/terracotta pitcher/similar black pitcher/landscape canvas/similar metal serving tray/dried okra vase filler}

I added a few items to my shelves. Said good-bye to the light and bright summer accessories and brought in items with darker colors.

Fall Family Room (Sunny Side Up)

{ivory decorative boxes/bryn vase/display easel}

Simple shelf decor is always my favorite.

Fall Family Room (Sunny Side Up)

An easel is a great way to display art or family pictures or a picture inside of a book on a shelf.

Or to display a family picture that is the book in this case. :)

Fall Family Room (Sunny Side Up)

{large wooden dough bowl over tv}

That’s it for now! Have you been adding cozy fall touches to your home too!? It’s supposed to get really hot here again soon so I’m glad I’ll at least be able to feel fall inside my house! I’ll just light my pumpkin spice candle, bake some banana bread muffins and crank up the air.

Good times indeed. :)
