Favorite Things Party One!

Favorite Things Party One Gift Ideas (Sunny Side Up)

Last night I kicked off the holiday season with a group of friends at a favorite things party. Favorite things parties are always so much fun this time of year! I’m pretty pumped because I am going to 3 of them this holiday season. The best because I get to spend time with 3 different groups of amazing friends and also the best because WOW.. so many fun gift ideas! You can be pumped right along with me because of course I’m going to share these fun gift ideas with all of you! Virtual favorite things after in person favorite things! Everyone is invited! Everyone gets a car!

Sorry.. flashback to Oprah. No cars. I got a little excited there. :)

A friend snapped this picture right after a few of us walked in the door and I’m bummed because I really didn’t take many pictures after that and I wish I would have! I didn’t even get a picture with my friend Megan – the beautiful party host who owns this house. You can tell by her stunning tree that she has an eye for design. Her home is gorgeous!

Favorite Things Party One Gift Ideas (Sunny Side Up)

Her cute 8 year old daughter snapped this one quick before we walked into the party and I wanted to share it to show off that wall.. amazing right!? I love the way she layered black, white and gold frames that hold sentimental pictures on shelves. Such a stunning statement right when you walk into her home.

Favorite Things Party One Gift Ideas (Sunny Side Up)

Bouquets of red, pink, gold and black balloons were going down her stairs and placed in other fun spots throughout her house.

Favorite Things Party One Gift Ideas (Sunny Side Up)

Pink is always such a fun, unexpected color for holiday decor. Her kitchen looked beautiful and the food was amazing!

Favorite Things Party One Gift Ideas (Sunny Side Up)

Snapped this of the balloons while everyone was in the living room and realized after that I was in the mirror.. Diet Coke in hand of course. Ha.

Most of you know the drill with Favorite Things parties – I’ve been sharing them on my blog for longer than I want to remember! ;) – but if you are new here and haven’t been to a favorite things party this is how it goes down. The host tells everyone how many gifts to bring and what amount. For this party we each brought 3 of one of our favorite things that cost between $15-$20. 3 of the same thing! (For the party I’m going to in a couple of weeks people are bringing 2 of the same favorite thing that costs between $25-$30). Either works! Then at the party each person gets up and tells about their item and why they love it so much. How the gifts are distributed can be done in lots of ways. At this party we all signed our names on 3 separate pieces of paper when we arrived and names were drawn after each person shared their favorite thing to see which 3 people got to take it home. Another way to do it is to all share favorites first and then start at one end of the room and go in order letting each person choose a gift. Then back again starting where you left off so the order reverses. Am I making sense? Anyway.. so many creative ways to do this! At the end of the day it’s just so fun seeing what your friends love. Usually if it’s a friend’s favorite thing it’s something you would love too! Each person goes home with 2 or 3 new gifts and even more gift ideas!

After a few hours of chatting, gift sharing and laughing these were the favorites shared last night. Perfect gifts for family, teachers, neighbors and friends!

Favorite things party (thesunnysideupblog.com)

1 – capri blue volcano candle  2 – madewell blanket scarf   3 – winter white holiday candle

4 – snowflake ornament  5 – olaplex blonde enhancing toning shampoo

6 – olaplex bond maintenance conditioner   7 – mini maker electric griddle

8 – hair finishing stick   9 – fullstar 4 in 1 vegetable chopper plus  10 – large makeup bag organizer

 11 – true lime (with gift card for Diet Coke)  12 – self tanning facial  drops  13 – tarte mascara

All so good! As you know Anthro candles are long time favorites of mine and you can’t go wrong with anything Madewell! I brought Olaplex (LOVE all of their products) and so did a couple of others (the purple shampoo is great for blondes!). I actually wanted to bring my battery organizer full of batteries. I ordered it and shipping was delayed! It didn’t come in time for the party. Maybe only a nerd like me loves things like that anyway so all good. ;) They actually drew my name for the vegetable chopper and we all had a good laugh! Then my friend put my name right back in the jar and gave it to someone else. My friends know me well enough to know that a vegetable chopper wouldn’t get used much at my house.. ha. :) My friend Katy who loves to cook brought that and raved about it so it’s a great gift for anyone who does love to cook! We were laughing at my friend Darci who loves to put true lime in everything she eats and drinks. Perfect especially for water and Diet Coke! I’m dying to try the hair finishing stick and the tanning facial drops! The make up bag was a hit too! All such fun items.

Favorite things party (thesunnysideupblog.com)

1 – adubor silk pillowcase  2 – fir and firewood candle  3 – magnetic measuring spoons set

4 – it’s a 10 miracle leave-in product  5 – pumi bar    6 – japanese salut towel

7 – danish dough whisk  8 – tinkle hair trimmer  9 – rose quartz roller (use with Aloe Vera)

10 – battery organizer   11 – supergoop sunscreen  12 – epicurean lip balm

Silk pillowcases are so good for your skin and hair! My friend swears by this one. Firewood and fir is hands down the best scent for the holiday season (I have that candle going in my house right now as I type this!). The measuring spoons are genius.. never lose one again! I can vouch for It’s a 10! I started using that as a de-tangler after a favorite things party a few years back and love it too. Same with the tinkle facial razors. I want to try Supergoop.. people rave about that sunscreen! The dough whisk was another popular items for cookers and I linked my battery organizer in this collage because you know.. there might be another nerd out there like me who would prefer that over a vegetable chopper. Stranger things have happened! ;) One item that accidentally didn’t make it into either collage was this microfiber hair towel wrap.  Another fun item!

I hope this post gave you a few fun gift ideas! I’ll share more from other parties and also my own favorite things round-up at some point too!

If you’re feeling at all stressed about gift giving or any other planning that needs to happen this holiday season it’s not too late to download my free holiday planner! I don’t know what I would be doing without my never ending brain dumps inside of mine. I love having a place to keep all of my Christmas lists/planning organized!

You might even call it one of my favorite things.

Second only to my battery organizer.

;)

A tale of two trees

*affiliate links used

Christmas Trees (Sunny Side Up)

{cable knit faux fur pillow/knitted tree Christmas throw}

I’m sharing two of my Christmas trees today! Complete rooms aren’t well.. complete yet. But progress has been made so I’m sharing progress. :)

First up.. my family room tree! This Norway 9′ Faux Spruce Tree might be my favorite tree ever. In this world. Which is saying a lot. The shape and lights.. it’s just beautiful and was so much fun to decorate!

Christmas Trees (Sunny Side Up)

I kept it really simple and just used this burgundy wood bead garland layered with this gold bead garland (similar here) for a base. Then I added the glitter star ornaments I love from my tree last year, these long time favorite gold ball ornaments and a few of these beautiful star drop ornaments. I was so excited when I found the star drop ornaments on-line because they go so well with the stars I already had! This glitter gold star was perfect to top things off and then I picked up this fun woven tree skirt to complete the look.

Really such an easy tree! The only thing that was a little tricky was getting the two garlands to look right. I had to space them far enough in-between one another and then I had to space the two individual garlands apart so they weren’t clumped together. That took a little effort! This is the tree I always decorate with my kids so I put the garland on and arranged it first and then they helped me with the ornaments. Always the best solution if part of the tree is going to take some planning. ;)

Christmas Trees (Sunny Side Up)

{woven tree skirt/wool jute rug}

Mad game of Sorry was going on this weekend. Hands down my kids’ favorite board game! These two play Sorry and Chess weekly and things get pretty heated.. ha.

I was worried the tree skirt would blend in too much with my family room rug but it works great! Really loving how well they compliment each other. I just need to finish a few things on my mantel and style my coffee table and then this room will be holiday ready!

To be continued.. :)

Christmas Trees (Sunny Side Up)

{windowpane plaid/red & green plaid/oversized burgundy/boucle with zipper/Christmas tree loops}

On a side note this is the one room I’m doing with more of a burgundy look vs. red. These pillows are a few favorites from Target I’m using this year. All going in different rooms but the two burgundy options (that got cut off on the far right!) will be in this space. Sorry for the bad lighting here.. cell phone on a cloudy day!

Christmas Trees (Sunny Side Up)

Ok.. next up is my living room tree! Here is a pic with the tree lights off.

Christmas Trees (Sunny Side Up)

And with lights on! While my family room tree is more elegant this tree is playful and just FUN. I love both looks so much! Which is why I end up with multiple trees throughout my house every year. It’s too hard to be limited to just one style! I know you all feel me on this one.

That’s why we hang out together here and all get along so well. :)

Christmas Trees (Sunny Side Up)

This is my fa-la-la tree in what I’m calling my fa-la-la room. You all know how deep my love is for this glitter garland! It will always have a place in my home during the holidays. :) Aside from that I layered in a bright red bead garland (similar here) with my favorite wood bead garland. I placed them a little less loopy than the bead garlands on my family room tree so they were a lot easier to work with!  Then I layered in white snowflakes (similar here and I’ll share more options linked below), and my cute little sherpa reindeer. :)

Christmas Trees (Sunny Side Up)

Christmas Trees (Sunny Side Up)

The only item I bought new this year for my living room tree are these beautiful fa-la-la white ball ornaments! Of course.. they were speaking to me. They are so large and stunning in person!

Christmas Trees (Sunny Side Up)

{red & green plaid/similar velvet green/fa-la-la pillow}

But if you get the ornaments you have to get this fa-la-la pillow too. I mean can you really have one without the other!? I think not and I would appreciate it if one of you could explain this to my husband. He needs to understand that all things fa-la-la are a package deal. He also needs to understand that these items definitely fall in the need category.. not a want. A need.

I’m so happy you’re with me on this one. ;)

*Sidenote.. did anyone notice the picture in the corner of baby Kole by the swimming pool? Summer pics are still in these frames! Switching them to Christmas pics is on this week’s to-do list.

Christmas Trees (Sunny Side Up)

This room is off to a great start with the tree and couch pillows done! I need to finish my mantel, style the shelves and coffee table and switch out the pictures. Then this room will be holiday ready too.

Christmas Trees (Sunny Side Up)

One step at a time. :)

Christmas Trees (Sunny Side Up)

Christmas Trees (Sunny Side Up)

{similar velvet green/Christmas tree loops}

I’m still playing around with pillow combos on my chairs and will probably move this tree pillow to another spot but isn’t it adorable!? The loops bring in so much texture! A perfect little accent pillow. Comes in red and gray too and in a lumbar size.

Well.. that wraps up my tale of two trees! Like I said.. complete rooms aren’t 100% complete yet, but we are definitely celebrating progress around here!

Christmas Trees (Sunny Side Up)

{plaid flannel joggers/ugg slippers}

In other fun news, these cute pj bottoms Ad and I bought last December are back in stock and on sale this weekend! Love them! (I’m linking them below.) They also come in shorts and I just ordered a pair of the shorts for each of my girls because they like to sleep in them. Cooler at night! Abercrombie is also having a huge sale on all of their coats this weekend so I linked favorites of those below too. Pjs or a new coat would make a great Christmas gift! (Mens coats are marked down too!)

Enjoy the rest of the weekend! I’ll keep decking the halls over here and report back with more soon.

;)

Festive Christmas Porch

Christmas Front Porch (Sunny Side Up)

85 degrees today on the coast! Time to head to the beach? Or decorate our porch for the holidays?

I say both! But porch first.

Always. ;)

Christmas Front Porch (Sunny Side Up)

We are feeling all sorts of festive around here now that I’ve turned our porch into a mini forest! I have to get my winter fix one way or another. :)

Christmas Front Porch (Sunny Side Up)

This really was the easiest Christmas porch and didn’t take long at all to set up. I put a few command hooks on the ledge above the door and then layered garland across the top. (Tip: Wait 30-60 min to add the garland after you place the command hooks. I’ve learned the hard way NOT to attach items right after you put the hooks on! The command hooks need some time to really stick and secure where you’ve placed them.)

Christmas Front Porch (Sunny Side Up)

{cypress tree/basket}

I pulled out my long time favorite faux Cypress trees, placed them in baskets to add some texture and then added smaller trees around them.

Christmas Front Porch (Sunny Side Up)

{large pine tree/medium pine tree/small pine tree}

Christmas Front Porch (Sunny Side Up)

{red plaid rug herehere/fa la la door mat}

You might remember this fun plaid red rug that I’ve had in my dining room during previous holiday months. I bought a smaller size for the porch and love it! What better to layer with the crown jewel.. my fa la la mat. ;)

Christmas Front Porch (Sunny Side Up)

{similar garland (more options linked below)/wreath hook/hanging bells}

I hung bells from the door with a wreath hook and called it done! Come on over! We are ready to welcome friends and family for the holiday.

And then all head to the beach.

:)

*I shared a quick video here of me styling this porch if it’s helpful!

Deals for Days!

Deals for Days (Sunny Side Up)

This is one of my all time favorite Christmas pictures from the past. Some of you might remember it! Kole had been in bed for hours and had a nightmare that woke him up so he came downstairs to find me. I was up of course (night owl for life) and was taking pics of my family room at night for a blog post. We talked about his bad dream and I gave him a hug and then he walked over to the tree to show me something and I snapped this one picture before I put him back in bed. I took him back to his room and remember laying next to him in bed and talking about how excited we were for Christmas and what Santa might bring. I love this memory and the picture I was lucky enough to snap that goes with it. :)

We all know that the holiday season is about a lot more than gifts, but it is the best feeling when you find the perfect gift for someone you love! Thanksgiving table ideas

*affiliate links used

Thanksgiving table (Sunny Side Up)

See now.. I haven’t forgotten about Thanksgiving entirely! I’m sharing a Thanksgiving tablescape today!

Alright. The jig is up. This table is from last year. My table is already decked in green and red plaid. Ha. #sorrynotsorry

Thanksgiving table (Sunny Side Up)

I thought I would share a few ideas from past years for anyone hosting this year! We were home last year for Thanksgiving so I set this tablescape and loved having it up for a few special meals throughout November.

Thanksgiving table (Sunny Side Up)

For every day when we weren’t eating I just kept the centerpiece. I laid this simple chiffon table runner in the center of my table.

Thanksgiving table (Sunny Side Up)

Then I laid two of my favorite eucalyptus garlands on top of the runner. Next I placed little white pumpkins, candles, gold acorns and pinecones throughout the garland. So easy!

Thanksgiving table (Sunny Side Up)

This is how it looked later when I added dishes.

Thanksgiving table (Sunny Side Up)

Thanksgiving table (Sunny Side Up)

I’ll link everything that’s still in stock at the end of this post!

Thanksgiving table (Sunny Side Up)

One of my favorites. :)

Thanksgiving table (Sunny Side Up)

Another fun idea is to take the pumpkins from your front porch and layer them on top of some faux (or real if you have them!) Fall leaves. Add a few candles throughout and done! (These leaves are similar to mine.)

Thanksgiving table (Sunny Side Up)

Thanksgiving table (Sunny Side Up)

Makes me so excited to be gathered around the table with family this year!

Thanksgiving table (Sunny Side Up)

Last year was slightly comical. Our first Thanksgiving without my mom! Usually on Thanksgiving I assist with the entertaining of the cousins and setting the table. I might slice a few potatoes or wash some carrots, but that’s it. It was quite an experience cooking the whole meal! Kenny and the girls were so great and chipped in. Kenny made the turkey and the girls and I did all of the sides. I was on the phone with my mom all morning! Ha. But we pulled it off! I’m still so proud of us all.

Thanksgiving table (Sunny Side Up)

My kitchen on Thanksgiving day. Looking good!

So grateful I’m not hosting this year! I’ll host all of the Christmas parties! With my cute plaid plates.

And take out.

Gift Guides (round 1!)

*This post is sponsored by Walmart. All product selections and opinions are my own!

Gift Guides (Sunny Side Up)

Happy weekend! Things are looking cheery around here! I’m sharing my first round of gift guides today with some fun ideas from Walmart to help you kick off your holiday shopping! Or maybe you’ve already kicked things off? Who is completely done? I’m always so impressed with people who get it knocked out early. My holiday planner really helps me organize my shopping so that I don’t get too behind, but I still always end up ordering last minute gifts every year. November and December always fly by too quickly for me! I’ve rounded up lots of my favorites for him, her, kids, and teens! I also put together a few fun gifts for people who love to cook! Or for people who don’t love to cook but do it sometimes anyway because they don’t want their family to starve.

That would be me. :)

Walmart Gifts for the Chef (thesunnysideupblog.com)

1- round placemats  2-  griddle  3- cooling grid

4- kitchenAid  5- metal baking sheets  6- oval platter

7- stoneware round bowls  8- slow cooker  9- mixing bowls

10- waffle maker  11- hand mixer   12- cast iron dutch oven

I have and love most of the items above! I bought El the waffle maker last year for Christmas because every time we travel and stay at a hotel that serves breakfast she always loves the waffles! They are usually made in the fun waffle maker above that you flip over to cook. I bought her one and she has been in waffle heaven ever since. :) The baking sheets and cooling grids are long time favorites and I can’t say enough good things about my red kitchen aid hand mixer. Hands down the best I’ve used. The round neutral placemats would be beautiful for all holiday dining!

Gift Guides (Sunny Side Up){KitchenAid mixing bowls/set bundle}

I shared these fun KitchenAid mixing bowls last year. They are my favorites! Last year I bought sets of the red bowls and gave them as gifts with a fun cook book to several friends. I love giving gifts like that at the beginning of December. Then my friends have something fun to use during the month and I can wrap up some my gift giving early. Win win! :)

walmart gifts for kids (thesunnysideupblog.com)

1- luna sonic face cleanser  2- flat iron straightener  3- biolage shampoo & conditioner

4- detangle & style   5- women’s winter coat  6- caddy tray  7- hiker boot

8- luggage set    9- dyson vacuum cleaner   10- wet/dry vacuum cleaner

Some of my favorites for the women in your life!

Gift Guides (Sunny Side Up)

{dyson vacuum cleaner}

I can’t believe I went so long without a Dyson. Love at first vacuum. :) I also ordered this wet/dry vacuum cleaner above to try. I want something that works as a mop too for times I need to clean up quick spills/sticky floors. I’ll report back whether or not I love it!

Gift Guides (Sunny Side Up)

{hiker boot}

Cutest boots! I love wearing them with sweaters this time of year. Do we have snow and need boots like this? No. Are they cute and comfy anyway? Yes. Indeed they are. :)

Walmart gifts for him (thesunnysideupblog.com)

1- champion muscle t-shirt   2- apple watch   3- orca cooler

4- champion jacket   5- tool combo kit   6- portable heater

7- long sleeved t-shirt   8- grooming kit  9- tent

A few things I’m looking at for Kenny. You can’t go wrong with anything Champion and he’s been talking about camping more with Kole so I know the tent and Orca cooler will be a hit! He has the portable heater in his home office and loves it on chilly days (he works mostly from home now.. never going back!) and his Apple watch is probably his number one favorite gift from a few years back.

walmart gifts for littles (thesunnysideupblog.com)1-book set  2- sensory toy set  3- marvel 8-pack

4- cash register  5- my little pony figures

These toys! They make me miss having little ones and bring back ALL the memories. Five of my kids’ favorite toys growing up. Cash registers and fake food were always a hit and we still have our little ponies (my girls will never part with them!). The pop it fidget toys are still some of Kole’s favorites. I take them to church every Sunday and he loves to sit and push the little buttons in and out. Hard for boys to sit still for so long and this takes his mind off of how much he wants to bust out of his church clothes and run free outside with friends. ;)

Walmart Gifts for Kids (thesunnysideupblog.com)

1- sorry   2- jumanji  3- art set   4- hot wheels track set

5- percy jackson book set     6- mario kart nintendo switch

7- slinky   8- simon game   9- lite-brite  10- headphones

11- radio flyer ziggle  12- portable basketball hoop

13- youth kayak  14- hoverboard

More recent toy favorites! Sorry is hands down my kids’ favorite board game. We probably all play it at least 3 times a month. Simon is a fun old school alternative to the iPad when Kole is board and he has always loved hot wheel tracks. The hoverboard is a tough one for me! My girls BEGGED me for one a few years ago so we got it for Christmas and they kept it inside. They loved it. Me and my baseboards hated it and out it went. Ha. But I think if they would have used it outside I might have felt differently! I added it to the list because my girls loved it so much and still beg for another one.

Gift Guides (Sunny Side Up)

{lite-brite/simon game/slinky}

Classic old school toys are still my favorites. Who doesn’t love lite-brite!? And so funny.. one Christmas years ago all Addison wanted was a slinky. That’s all she asked for. Santa brought her one and my kids still play with it! Kole wants his own for Christmas this year. I’m telling you.. the old toys never get old. Kind of like all of us right? Aging so nicely. ;)

Gift Guides (Sunny Side Up)

{radio flyer ziggle}

I had to throw in these pics of my little buddy on his ziggle. He loved it for years! Such a fun gift for kids this age.

Walmart gifts for teens (thesunnysideupblog.com)

1-LED lights  2- basketball  3- holiday chapsticks

4- bose headphones  5- hobbit deluxe boxed set

6- slam dunk basketball  7- hot air brush

8- suede boot  9- hat & scarf  10- plush throw

FUN things for teens! I actually love shopping for teens. Some people things they are hard to shop for but I think they are easy! Especially teen girls. Most of the stuff they love and things I love too!

Gift Guides (Sunny Side Up)

{hot air brush/flat iron straightener}

These are two of my girls’ favorite hair items. Addison loves the hot air brush when she wants to straighten her curls and El swears by this flat iron. They have had these two items for several years and they have held up great! Both perfect gifts for teen girls.

Gift Guides (Sunny Side Up)

{plush throw}

Last but not least I picked up my 3 kids these fuzzy plush throws. A fun tradition my mom started years ago! She would always give us a fuzzy throw to go with our Christmas pjs each year so now I do the same with my kids. Then we go to grandma’s house for Thanksgiving and she gives them a fuzzy throw and pajamas too and before long we realize that we all own way too many fuzzy throws and Christmas pjs.

But I can think of worse things. :)

I hope this post gave you a few fun ideas! Walmart has made it easy with their gift finder (so many fun ideas here!). You can easily find gifts for anyone on your list. I’ll be sharing more gift ideas soon.

Enjoy your weekend!

Holiday Prep

Christmas prep (Sunny Side Up)

{faux weeping eucalyptus trees/metal black lanterns/hand woven jute rug/scattered tan rug/black planters}

Happy November! I can’t believe it’s here! October flew by so quickly I hardly had time to catch my breath. We didn’t get it together for family costumes this year. The kids were doing costumes with friends for school and we were so busy leading up to it. We had several parties going on Halloween weekend so last minute Ad and I grabbed our beloved reindeer pjs and off we went! A perfect solution since we are all about comfort! And don’t repeat.. but I’ve been listening to Christmas music since September. Ha. :)

Christmas prep (Sunny Side Up)

{reindeer pajamas}

Christmas prep (Sunny Side Up)

Grateful one of my three still wants to twin with mom. :)

Christmas prep (Sunny Side Up)

{faux cedar garland/eucalyptus garland}

I have been decking the halls and will have lots to share soon! I’m using my same garland this year and I wanted to share it again because the 9 foot faux cedar garland sold out and I know the 6 foot will be gone soon too!

Christmas prep (Sunny Side Up)

{faux cedar garland/eucalyptus garland/brass candle holders/hanging bells/white ceramic vase/dough bowl}

I’ve had so much fun pulling it out again this year. Nothing like holiday greenery. An instant pick me up!

Christmas prep (Sunny Side Up)

{rizzo textured ornaments}

Sharing a few things I’m using to decorate this year. These ornaments came in the mail and are stunning! Amazing quality. Kind of a splurge so I just ordered a few and I’m spreading them out between 2 different trees and mixing them with other things. They have such a cool modern vibe.

Christmas prep (Sunny Side Up)

{glitter stars/star objects/mercury ornaments/bells/brass reindeer/gold bead garland/similar gold bead garland}

Gold with a splash of red/maroon in my family room this year!

Christmas prep (Sunny Side Up)

{chunky knit throw/knitted tree throw/center stripe pillow}

These two green throws are both beautiful options! They are different shades of green so I wanted to show them side by side. Sorry about the horrible lighting here.. I snapped these pics quick with my phone on a cloudy day!

Christmas prep (Sunny Side Up)

{plaid melamine dinner plates/gift bags/wrapping paper}

These plaid plates are one of my favorite purchases this year! I love melamine! I want to say I love melamine because then my kids can’t break them but really I break more things than my kids to so I’m happy they aren’t breakable for my sake! So cute for holiday entertaining or just every day dinner with the family this time of year. If things say they are sold out at the moment, be sure to put in your info (“notify me when it’s in stock”) if you want them because a lot of times Target re-stocks items.

Christmas prep (Sunny Side Up)

{faux cedar wire wreath}

This hoop wreath is another holiday favorite I was so happy they brought back! This was last year’s wreath with a black ribbon. This year they come with forest green ribbons and are stunning in person! I ordered several. It has already sold out and come back in stock twice in the last month.

Christmas prep (Sunny Side Up)

{faux cedar & berry plant swag/wool jute rug}

These swags are also adorable and there are so many fun things you can do with them! Perfect on the back of chairs, on cabinets, over mirrors, etc. Same thing where they keep selling out and coming back in stock.

Christmas prep (Sunny Side Up)

{large pine tree/medium pine tree/small pine tree}

DYING over these adorable pine trees! The branches! The gold pots! They are just so beautiful. I’m either going to group them together somewhere or have them in random spots all over my house. I wanted to share them quickly before they are gone too!

Christmas prep (Sunny Side Up)

{pre-lit faux snowy pine trees}

These faux snowy pine trees I’ve had for years and love pulling them out. They come with lights and light up so beautiful at night! In past years I’ve keep them up through January. :)

Christmas prep (Sunny Side Up)

{fa la la doormat/merry bath mat/fa la la pillow cover/merry hand towel/pine tree hand towel/sleigh bell towel/wool jute rug}

A few fun PB items that I’m using this year! You can’t be unhappy when you have Merry and Fa la la all over your house. :)

Christmas prep (Sunny Side Up)

{small wood & marble tree board/large wood & marble tree board/snowflake boards}

These marble and wood cheese boards are perfect for holiday parties! I’m going to display the little tree on a shelf but the large tree and round snowflake board (isn’t it adorable!?) are both fun options for charcuterie boards.

Christmas prep (Sunny Side Up)

{holiday tree cheese boards}

This holiday cheese board I’ve had for years and just use for decor. It always looks so festive on my kitchen counters! So do our holiday pretzel hugs.

Christmas prep (Sunny Side Up)

Christmas prep (Sunny Side Up)

We just made them last weekend for a party. Halloween style. :)

Christmas prep (Sunny Side Up)

1- ornament wood cheese boards   2- wood and marble boards  3- holiday tree shaped cheese boards

Christmas prep (Sunny Side Up)

{extra large wood cheese board}

You know me.. simple when it comes to all things food/cooking. This isn’t fancy but such an easy and festive way to serve snacks! I love doing things like this when we’re having a family movie night.

Christmas prep (Sunny Side Up)

{extra large wood cheese board}

In Nov/Dec I get a little more creative. :)

Christmas prep (Sunny Side Up)

{platters & boards/savor}

I mentioned this last year but one of my all time favorite gifts to give for teachers/neighboards/friends is a fun cheese board paired with a favorite board book! There are so many great options and the holiday boards would be so fun to give at the beginning of December! Then you’re done with your gift giving early and it’s something people can use during the holiday season.

Christmas prep (Sunny Side Up)

1- savor  2- the cheese board deck  3- platters & boards

4- graze  5- on boards  6- beautiful boards

Here are some board book options I rounded up! I’ll have more fun gift ideas up on the blog soon too.

Ok.. this post turned out really random. A little brain dump of holiday prep going on around here! I hope it’s helpful as you’re doing your own. I’m off to deck the halls! Lots to “wrap up” around here.

Happy my kids didn’t hear that one.. I’d get a nice eye roll for sure!

Ha. :)

Fall Fashion (Sunny Side Up)

{ruffle hem a-line dress}

Can you believe we are close to ending October!? This time of year always goes by too quickly! I started setting up Christmas trees (eek!) and a few other holiday favorites are starting to appear. Tis the season! Between holiday decor and time spent with family and friends November and December are my favorite. I ordered this green dress and a few others for all of the holiday parties we are going to attend. Save the dates are rolling in and I don’t want to be stressed about what to wear. Isn’t it beautiful!?

Fall Fashion (Sunny Side Up)

{ruffle hem a-line dress/similar boots}

Lighting is weird in this pic because I wore it to a dinner in the evening so this was taken late in the afternoon, but it’s a beautiful forest green. (I ordered the dark green and there is also an army green.) It comes in even more colors (like 27!) including a pretty burgundy and beige that would also be beautiful for the holidays! I love wearing forest green this time of year.

And the rest of the year too. :)

Fall Fashion (Sunny Side Up)

{wrap maxi dress}

I’m sharing a few other cute Walmart finds today and this wrap maxi dress is another favorite! Seriously so beautiful. From the fit to the ruffles to the color.  It’s so flattering and feminine. 10 out of 10 for me! I’m normally an xs but they only had an xxs or a small so I ordered both to try and the small fit perfect so I would size up one size for this dress. I wore it to church Sunday and got so many compliments! I think this shade of blue looks great on everyone. It also comes in a burgundy that would be beautiful for Fall family pictures or holiday parties.

Fall Fashion (Sunny Side Up)

{floral ruffle mini dress/similar boots}

This is another cute dress! I love the floral pattern. A little on the short side for me (didn’t notice it was a “mini” when I ordered it .. ha) so I will probably give this one to my girls, but a cute option if you like short dresses or have teens.

Fall Fashion (Sunny Side Up)

{zip up flap pocket bomber jacket/velour jogger pants}

This lightweight bomber jacket is so up my alley! I love clothes like this. Comfortable and a little sporty. I paired it with these cozy velour jogger pants. They are so soft and warm!

Fall Fashion (Sunny Side Up)

Love that they have the stripe going down the side. Are we coordinating or what!? ;)

Fall Fashion (Sunny Side Up)

{velour sweatshirt/velour jogger pants}

I couldn’t resist ordering the velour sweatshirt too. It’s just as soft as the pants. So comfy to slip on when it’s chilly outside. Our temps are getting cooler and it makes my day to be wearing stuff like this again!

Fall Fashion (Sunny Side Up)

{faux suede cropped moto jacket}

Another cute jacket I’m loving for Fall! This moto jacket is darling. I couldn’t decide what color to get so I got this light khaki and also the green. Seriously keeping them both! I got this in my regular size and it fits the best (xs).

Fall Fashion (Sunny Side Up)

This will be nice to have one size up if I want to wear it over a thicker sweater.  Comes in other colors too! I love the gold buttons.

Fall Fashion (Sunny Side Up)

{denim trenchcoat jacket}

I also ordered this cute denim trenchcoat jacket. Perfect for Fall! I threw it on over my workout clothes the other day to run errands and instantly looked put together. Another keeper! Walmart for the win! :)

Fall Fashion (Sunny Side Up)

{square neck smocked top}

And last for today this cute square neck smocked top. It’s such a beautiful blue and I love the floral print! I don’t love showing my stomach but most of my jeans are high waisted so it works great. Would be really cute for a teen girl too! I have no doubt I’ll be sharing this one. :)

Fall Fashion (Sunny Side Up)

A little life update so that I have these moments documented. :) Last week was eventful because Addison finally got her braces off. She had an early morning appointment before school so I took her after to get her favorite pink drink from “Starbies” as my girls call it. :) I can’t believe how much older she instantly looked without them!

Fall Fashion (Sunny Side Up)

It was pajama day at her school so between that, braces off and a pink drink she was one happy girl. :)

Fall Fashion (Sunny Side Up)

Then Friday was “senior night” at Ellie’s high school. Cue the tears! I was emotional all day just thinking about it! At the football game they had all of the football players, cheerleaders and dance team girls walk on the field one at a time and meet their families. They gave the moms roses and took a picture. Ad wasn’t able to come because she’s sophomore class pres and was helping with her high school’s Homecoming dance that night. (My girls go to two different high schools.. they don’t like to make life easy for their parents.) ;) But the rest of us were there and I was proud of myself for not crying all evening too. I was fine once I got to the game with friends, but I can tell this year with all of the “last time senior stuff” is going to be rough on me. I’m just not ready for El to move out! Time to order a few more boxes of tissues..

Fall Fashion (Sunny Side Up)

And what’s Kole up to? Oh boy. I’m in trouble with this little ladies man. Ha. Kole’s living the good life adored by all of the beautiful teen girls his sisters are friends with.

Please time slow down. I’m not ready for El to move out and for Ad to look so grown up and for Kole to be any older than he already is. He’s keeping me on my toes enough at just 11 years old.

;)

Fall Powder Bath, Fashion & Favorites

Fall powder bathroom (Sunny Side Up)

{pumpkin spatula & cookie cutter/fir & firewood candle/spiced cider candle/dish towel/similar soap/oak leaf plate}

I hope you’re enjoying your weekend! I’m sitting on my couch typing this post on my laptop enjoying the most heavenly Fall scent. My spiced cider candle to be exact. (I picked up another at Anthro with the cute items above.. they are perfect for gifts this time of year and are on sale this weekend!) Our weather has been cooling off (5 degrees but we’ll take it!) and Fall is in the air. Feels so good! This is a longer post today but I have so much to share! Fall decor in my powder bathroom, a few fun things I’ve been wearing and so many cute items on sale this weekend! I also rounded up Target Christmas favorites towards the end of the post. Have you seen them yet!? They are GOOD this year. Lots of beautiful Christmas decor has been arriving on my doorstep and I can’t help getting excited! I’ll share some things I’ve ordered and love in stories this week. I really need to figure out our Halloween costumes but I keep getting sidetracked with forest green throws and fa-la-la doormats. Ha. :)

Fall powder bathroom (Sunny Side Up)Our little powder bathroom is always so easy to mix up for the season. Small spaces don’t take much! Just 10 minutes of swiping out a few things and the cozy factor went way up. I’ll take it.

Fall powder bathroom (Sunny Side Up)

{similar round tray here & here/chevron vase/spectrum pitcher/spiced cider candle/faux plant stem/similar croton stems}

I move a lot of decor through this bathroom by my long time favorite chevron vase is a staple that doesn’t move much. I added a few leaf stems, my new candle and this beloved little pitcher on a round wooden tray. Instant Fall! You might remember this cute little pitcher from my dining nook..

September Amazon Buys/Fall Favorites (Sunny Side Up)

{wood serving board light wash/wood serving board dark wash/large reclaimed wood vase/ olive branch stems/smaller reclaimed wood vase/spectrum pitcher}

Probably my #1 favorite purchase this Fall (along with my faux olive branches) because it just looks so good everywhere I set it! That handle just had me at hello. Plus it’s such a perfect accent to pair with larger vases. It’s also on sale this weekend and I’m tempted to pick up another one because I keep moving it around my house so much. :)

Fall powder bathroom (Sunny Side Up)

{plaid throw (on sale!)/similar ladder here, here & here}

I usually set towels on this ladder but our fuzzy black and tan throw instantly made this space feel warm so I opted for it instead. Kole wasn’t very impressed with me when he saw it in the bathroom because he likes wrapping up in this throw on the couch. Oops. Sorry bud. Maybe not as practical now but it sure looks cute. Luckily he knows he’ll regain control of his throw before too long when this bathroom is decked in red.

Fall powder bathroom (Sunny Side Up)

This rug sold out so I linked some similar rugs that would be beautiful in a bathroom for Fall..

Fall powder bathroom (Sunny Side Up)

{dish towel that I decided is a hand towel}

This is actually a dish towel but it’s so soft and pretty I decided to use it as a hand towel. I’m tricky like that. :)

Fall powder bathroom (Sunny Side Up)

Love this little leaf dish. Would be cute holding hand soap too!

Fall powder bathroom (Sunny Side Up)

Fall in the powder bathroom! I smile every time I walk by. :)

Fall powder bathroom (Sunny Side Up)

1- knotted decorative object   2- faux fur throw  3- pitcher

4- jute pillow   5- pot    6- diamond dot pillow   7- dish towel

8- wood candle holder   9- beaded garland  10- textured pot

These are a few of my Anthro favorites that are all 20% off today! I ordered another dish towel for the kitchen. I also got it in pink for the Spring. Problem solved. :)

Fall powder bathroom (Sunny Side Up)

1- decorative star   2- wooden tree candle    3- stocking

4- garland   5- santa claus doormat

These cute holiday items are also 20% off!

Fall powder bathroom (Sunny Side Up)

1- apron   2- oven mitt   3- spatula and cookie cutter   4- dish towel

And these items on sale would be so much fun for gifts this time of year! I picked up a few of the spatula/cookie cutters. So cute to give to teachers or friends to just say “thankful for you.”

Fall clothes (Sunny Side Up)

{faux sherpa cozy jacket/AG jeans/pointed toe mules}

A few cute Fall things I’ve been wearing. A 5 degree temp drop is all I need to bust out the jackets and boots! This sherpa jacket is the coziest! I found it at Nordstrom but it sold out so I did a little digging and found it on-line here too. I love the plaid pattern so much!

Fall clothes (Sunny Side Up){faux sherpa cozy jacket/wide leg pants/pointed toe mules}

I bought these cute wide leg pants (in an attempt to get out of my jean/jogger rut!) and tried them with the jacket. Both of these items are on the baggy side so the jacket looks better paired with fitted pants and these pants look better with a more fitted shirt, but I do love these pants so I wanted to share them! They are a cute fit.. really high waisted! And obviously the model wearing them is taller than me.. ha. I think they are supposed to hit a little higher up on the ankle but I’ll just pretend they are supposed to touch the ground. Won’t be the first time. :)  (I’m 5’3 and a half and wearing the xs for size reference).

Fall clothes (Sunny Side Up)

{initial pendant necklace/balloon sleeve sweater/heidi over the knee boot/AG jeans}

This balloon sleeve sweater comes in lots of colors and is such a cute fit! Really soft and comfortable. I love a good puff sleeve. :)

Fall clothes (Sunny Side Up)

{mock neck crop sweater/pointed toe mules/AG jeans}

This is another recent favorite sweater. The neck on it is so cute!

Fall clothes (Sunny Side Up)

I love the length too.. it’s just a little longer in the back than in the front.

Fall clothes (Sunny Side Up)

{script initial pendant neckalce/camo linen tee/AG jeans/heidi over the knee boot}

I need a new camo top about as much as I need another Christmas pillow but this one was calling my name! It’s so soft and I love that it has more black in it than most of my grey camos. I’ve already worn it enough to totally justify yet another camo tee. :)

Fall clothes (Sunny Side Up)

{star seeker brushed jersey pajamas}

I’m nothing if not consistent. :) These pjs are also the coziest! And such a cute fit. They come in a variety of prints if you aren’t as big of a camo fan as I am. Although if you aren’t, might I ask why not!? I just don’t get it. ;) This set of pjs would make a perfect holiday gift!

Washable Rugs!

*This post is sponsored by Walmart. All opinions and product selections are my own!

Washable Rugs (Sunny Side Up)

{moroccan diamond washable rug}

Happy Thursday! How is it already Thursday!? This week has flown by. I’ve been organizing a lot lately and when I get in a groove with organizing I tend to lose track of days and time altogether. What kids? You’re hungry? You need to be where? You need help with what? Whatever it is it can’t possible be as important as going through this sock drawer. I just know I’m not wearing half of these..

More on my organizing adventures soon. :) For today I’m popping in to share this beautiful new rug I got from Walmart for my girls’ bathroom! You might remember not long ago I shared some smaller navy rugs I bought for this space. They were so cute! And my girls hated them. Ha. Honestly I can’t say that I blamed them. The rugs had nothing holding them down and even later when I added rug pads they slipped off the pads and swirled around everywhere. Then some make-up spilled on one of the rugs and wouldn’t come out. One day I walked upstairs and there were the cute navy rugs.. sitting in the hallway. Apparently my girls were done with them regardless of how cute they were!

Washable Rugs (Sunny Side Up)

It was time for a new rug and I was very selective picking one this time around! I knew I wanted a dark blue runner and it had to have more of a secure backing (I didn’t want  to mess with rug pads in this bathroom again). This rug could not be more perfect and we are in love! Aside from the cute print it’s machine washable! I can toss it in my washing machine and it will always look as good as new.

Washable Rugs (Sunny Side Up)

It has a soft, nonslip backing and I love the deep blue and fun pattern. It comes in lots of sizes and I was bummed the biggest is 7’6 by 9’6. I need a larger rug for my outdoor area and this is exactly what I want in that space too! My girls are also thrilled with their new rug and we will never go back to small rugs that you can’t wash and that don’t stay in place in this bathroom again.

The end.

Washable Rugs (Sunny Side Up)

Almost. :) I was thinking this would be a fun print for summer in my mudroom so I tried it out in this space too. So cute! Perfect for the kitchen too since that’s the place most of the spills happen.

Washable Rugs (Sunny Side Up)

Walmart has an entire line of beautiful WASHABLE rugs! So many fun prints in various sizes. I rounded up my favorites below. I’m very tempted to pick up another one.. or two! Affordable, stylish, washable rugs?

Almost as exciting as my organized sock drawer.

Almost.

;)

Washable Rugs (Sunny Side Up)

1- cadarn beige rug  2- krystin distressed rug   3- diamond rug   4- geometric area rug

5- persian medallion rug  6- cadena blue rug  7- faded vintage rug  8- floral area rug

2021 Holiday Planner & Favorite Christmas Decor!

AHHHH!  Is it really time for my annual October Christmas post!? If you’re new here don’t worry! We’ll be back to all things pumpkins soon! Not rushing Fall around here.. we are enjoying every minute of it. But if you know me you know there are two things I love about as much as life itself.  ORGANIZATION and CHRISTMAS DECOR! (I seriously feel giddy just typing those words.) So it’s no surprise that this post is one of my favorites! For years I’ve written an annual October blog post sharing little things I was doing early to get a jump start on the holiday season so that December didn’t feel so stressful. Finally a few years ago I created my Holiday Planner that includes all of that info. along with other planning printables! It has been a HUGE help to me during the holiday season and I hope that it’s helpful to you too! Just doing a few small things ahead of time makes all the difference when it comes to holiday stress. I love having a place to keep all of my holiday ideas/details/plans!

2021 Holiday Planner (Sunny Side Up)

My planner includes printables to help with gift giving, party planning, meal planning, shopping and decor planning, calendar pages (vertical and horizontal), cute to-do lists and more!  Use them all or pick and choose a few pages.. whatever is helpful!

This holiday planner is a gift from me to you again this season!  Completely free for you to download and use when you sign up for my blog e-mail list HERE.

(If you are already a Sunny Side Up subscriber just enter your info. again to get the calendar.. it won’t add you twice!  Also, if you sign up and don’t get an e-mail soon after, check your junk mail!  Once in a while it lands there first.)

Now that holiday organization is taken care of.. let’s talk Christmas decor! Favorite items sell out fast and shipping delays are definitely a concern this year. I’m going to try to share decor/gift ideas a little early this year because of this. So many items are already backordered so don’t wait if you want something! I tried to order some holiday bedding last night for this year and it said it would arrive in January! Ha. I think I’ll pass and find something else thank you very much. :) Many of my tried and true Christmas decor favorites are back in stock but won’t last long! I’ve rounded up a few personal favorites along with collages of other cute items I’m seeing and loving so far this year. Let me know what’s on your wishlist!

2021 Holiday Planner (Sunny Side Up)

{faux cedar garland/eucalyptus garland/brass candle holders/hanging bells/white ceramic vase/dough bowl}

First up.. my two favorite garlands are finally back in stock! (faux cedar garlandeucalyptus garland)  I use them all over my home this time of year. They are so realistic!  Amazing quality and they look beautiful combined together or on their own.  I promise you they won’t last long! They sell out so quickly every year.

2021 Holiday Planner (Sunny Side Up)

The faux cedar garland is thin so I layered a few together with the Eucalyptus garland for this look. (I used 5-6 but this mantel is huge. I would recommend 3 for a regular sized mantel – 2 faux cedar garlands with 1 eucalyptus). Bells are always a fun addition with garland too and I’ve included favorites below!

2021 Holiday Planner (Sunny Side Up)

{similar plaid pillow/cable knit pillow/similar knit stockings}

Another fun mantel look with my faux cedar garland! My matching faux cedar wreath is back in stock too!

2021 Holiday Planner (Sunny Side Up)

{faux potted cypress tree/faux cedar garland/faux cedar wreath/similar striped rug}

My favorite faux porch trees are also back in stock! LOVE these trees. I don’t think I’ll ever get tired of seeing them on my porch. If I do I’ll bring them inside to use! Have I mentioned before that my favorite color is green? ;)

2021 Holiday Planner (Sunny Side Up)

1-  eucalyptus mix garland  2- cedar pine garland  3- cedar garland   4- swag

5- eucalyptus garland   6- arborvitae garland   7- swag   8- hemlock pine garland

These are some beautiful and realistic garlands at different price points. I also found two swags that would be beautiful for Fall or Christmas decorating!

2021 Holiday Planner (Sunny Side Up)

1-  brass bells   2- gold metal rustic windchime  3- rustic cow bells

4- hanging bells   5- golden bells door hanger   6- rustic bell   7- gold jingle bells

Bring on the bells! I love using bells with my holiday decor! So beautiful at the end of the stairs, on the mantel, on the front door. They are a perfect accent! I have #4 and #5 and want to pick up a few of these other cute options.

2021 Holiday Planner (Sunny Side Up)

{flocked long needle green pine tree}

Let’s talk trees! If you are looking for a beautiful flocked tree I can’t recommend this tree enough. I bought it for my bedroom last year and am absolutely in love! It’s just stunning in person!

2021 Holiday Planner (Sunny Side Up)

{Pink Master Bedroom Christmas Decor}

This is a pic of it decorated. All things pink in my bedroom last year!

2021 Holiday Planner (Sunny Side Up)

1- balsam flocked green pine tree   2- spruce tree

3- green fir tree   4- fir tree   5- flocked pine tree   6- faux fir tree

My bedroom tree is #5. I also have and love tree #1! I had it in my dining room last year and never got around to sharing it! Another beautiful flocked option. ANNND I bought another tree this year. This Norway 9 foot faux spruce tree from Mcgee and Co and if it looks anything like the picture of it I’ll be in tree heaven! I’ve been looking for a new tree for my family room for a couple of years and LOVE the look of this faux spruce. It’s a little wider than the tree I’ve been using so I’m crossing my fingers it works. If not I have a few other spots I can put it, but I really want it to work in my family room because that’s the room we are in the most. I rounded up a few other trees that look beautiful and so fun to decorate! Seriously can’t wait.  How many trees are too many trees? #nevertoomany

Kenny doesn’t exactly agree with me on this one. Good thing I’m always right. ;)

2021 Holiday Planner (Sunny Side Up)

5- wreath  6- gold beaded garland   7- distressed ornament  8- wooden beaded garland

{pre-lit birch trees/faux snow/faux cedar garland/hicks pendant}

Remember my snowy village Christmas window? I can’t wait to set this up again.. it was the coziest! My pre-lit birch trees are back in stock! These are the medium and small size. I can’t find these exact houses on-line but I rounded up some beautiful white winter village options below.

1- C&B white ceramic houses   2- village houses   3- wondershop ceramic houses

4- ballard ceramic houses   5- village tealight candle holders  6- winter village box set

2021 Holiday Planner (Sunny Side Up)

1 – galvanized houses  2 – wooden houses  3 – winter houses  4 –  LED houses

Aren’t they all adorable!? So cute on any Christmas tree!

2021 Holiday Planner (Sunny Side Up)

{similar faux fur tree skirt}

2020 family room tree! I never did get a star for the top of it. Which felt very 2020ish so I just rolled with it. Ha. ;)

2021 Holiday Planner (Sunny Side Up)

My glitter star ornaments are back in stock this year and I’m planning on using them again. They are so beautiful! I also love these gold mercury glass ornaments.  I kind of want to just re-create this tree.. maybe a few small changes. :)

2021 Holiday Planner (Sunny Side Up)

1- doormat   2- tree set   3- faux potted cypress tree   4- wood bead garland

5- faux cypress wreath   6- snowflake cutout ornaments    7- star ornaments

8- tree collar   9- fa la la ornament  10- brass reindeer

2021 Holiday Planner (Sunny Side Up)

2021 Holiday Planner (Sunny Side Up)

{cable knit faux fur pillow/merry lumbar pillow}

Two of my favorite Christmas pillows are also back in stock!  Beautiful staples that work year after year even as decor styles change. Ive had this merry pillow for over 6 years! Speaking of all things merry..

I adore PB’s “merry” decor too much! I have a few of these items and couldn’t resist ordering a few more.

 2021 Holiday Planner (Sunny Side Up)

Last year I bought this beautiful velvet sherpa tree pillow for my bedroom and it sold out so quickly. I heard from many of you who loved it too so I’m thrilled they brought it back this year! I’ll have it in my bedroom again along with this fun Christmas Lane print.  An easy, inexpensive way to update a space for the holidays/winter!

2021 Holiday Planner (Sunny Side Up)

1- rug   2- juniper branch   3- sleigh bell towels   4- gold star ornament

5- knit stockings   6- red berry pine wreath    7- juniper & berry bundle

8- flameless candles  9- snowy pine trees  10- plaid pillow covers

11- mercury glass ornaments

My love for PB Christmas decor runs deep (as you all know) and these are a few favorites popping up on-line! This collage makes me want to pull out my trees and plaid pillows STAT! Can’t you just hear it? “Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire..”  I seriously wish December was 4 months long.

2021 Holiday Planner (Sunny Side Up)

1- holiday tree mat   2- fa la la mat   3- stag doormat

4- happy holidays mat  5- merry and bright doormat   6- mistletoe doormat

Ok.. last Christmas decor collage! For today. ;) I couldn’t pick just one of these doormats to share.  I also couldn’t pick just one of these doormats to order! I need more doors. That’s the only solution that makes sense.

Alright.. I better wrap this baby up! I could talk Christmas decor ALL DAY LONG but it’s getting late and there is a lot here to digest. :) I need to contain my excitement and head back to the pumpkin patch.

But good things are coming.

Chestnuts are roasting.. and good things are coming.

:)

Green and White Fall Porch

*affiliate links used
Green and White Fall Porch (Sunny Side Up)

October – officially pumpkin washing time! :)  Kole and I carried out our annual tradition of spraying off the pumpkins and cleaning the front porch and decorating it for Fall last week.  It’s so funny to me that this even became a tradition!  For anyone new here this all started when Kole was little.  We bought some pumpkins at the grocery store one October years ago and they were dusty.  I set them outside when we got home and told him to spray them off in an effort to keep him busy while I unloaded the car.  He had so much fun cleaning the pumpkins (he has always loved spraying the hose and anything to do with water!) and asked if he could do it again the next year.

And so it began. :)  We always look forward to this and have now added on a fun mom/son activity together after the pumpkin/porch washing.  This year we played tennis and had lunch.  Traditions that just naturally form are always the best traditions.. aren’t they!?  I love letting my kids take the lead.  It’s so fun seeing what things they want to repeat every year during the holidays.  We went to Starbucks and all got pink drinks and hot chocolate one year before our Christmas Eve drive to look at lights in pjs and now of course we can’t have a Christmas Eve without a Starbucks run!  I love the holidays. :)

I had Kole move the pumpkins out into the sun to dry and this straight line me smile.  He is just like his mom with a touch of that OCD/perfectionist side.  He is hands down my tidiest child.  I like the pumpkins in that perfectly straight line too buddy.  Peace and calm in order.  I get it. :)

You might notice that my pumpkins are all green!  I didn’t really plan on a green pumpkin porch but when I went to the store the green pumpkins were just sort of calling my name.  Before I knew it I had a cart full of green pumpkins and thought.. hmm. wonder what direction I think I’m going with these?  Ha.

So here she is!  My unintentional green and white Fall porch!  I kind of love it.  But I love everything green so no surprise there. :)

The real stars are my beautiful faux weeping eucalyptus trees.  Gah!  Could not love them more. They fill in the sides of my porch so nicely, I love the pots they come in and I mentioned before they are so realistic!  Very nice quality.  I’m beyond thrilled that I don’t have to maintain them!

I added two smaller real plants (they are white azaleas and just haven’t quite bloomed yet!) and then I bought these black pots for them. (The pots aren’t pictured.. I bought them the day after I took these pics but thought I’d share in case you need good, basic black pots.)  I love using small stools to add a little height to my pumpkins. :)

I added my long time favorite black metal lanterns and am going to add some candles with a timer inside so that they light up at night. I need to find some that are larger than this set I already have (on the to-do list!).

For my porch rug I layered this beautiful hand woven jute rug (in a 4×6) with this fun scattered tan rug.  Love them both!  Such a cozy look for Fall.  My plan is to keep the jute rug out for Spring and Summer too.  I can use it along with my faux trees all year long and just switch out the mat and a few things on the sides for each new season.  Brilliant!  Why didn’t I think of that years ago!?  I guess I had to live through the dying (and bird nesting) of multiple real trees to finally see the light. Ha.

I love the different shades of green and the various texture in these pumpkins!

Kind of fun to mix things up this year!  I hope you like it too!  I know green pumpkins aren’t for everyone but they definitely make my day when I pull into the house.  I’m thinking I’ll add some fun bats going across the door when it gets closer to Halloween.  Kole is a fan of the bats in October. :)

I’m lucky to have such a good helper this time of year.

Growing so fast but he’ll always be my littlest pumpkin in the patch. :)
