May Re-cap!

Oh my word.  It’s the end of May!  We all made it!  Still hanging on around here.  By a thread no doubt, but alive and kicking.  We have the rest of this week and one more until summer break and we are all so beyond ready.  This morning was brutal after the nice, long weekend.  Almost hilarious.  None of us wanted to wake up!  Then we were scrambling big time.  It’s like our brains have switched over to summer mode and there’s no going back. :)

Because life is so busy, especially during this time of year, I decided to do a quick month round-up of what happened on the blog during May.  I know I haven’t had much time for blog reading lately and I can’t wait to sit down in my pj’s and do some major catching up on my favorites in two weeks!   Seriously counting down.  If you’ve been on the go like we have and missed a post or two I’ll catch you up quick!  Then on to good things in June.  :)

{SIMPLE and PRETTY JEWELRY ORGANIZATION}

I kicked off the month by sharing my organized jewelry.  This vanity in my master bathroom has been a dream since I whipped it into shape!  I shared all the details in this post (including my favorite jewelry) and can’t wait to share a few more things in this space soon!

Friday Favorites and Fashion!

dooney-and-bourke-purse
Happy Friday everyone!  I have some fun favorites and clothes to share with you today!  We are actually going to start with a couple of my mom’s favorite things.  Since I shared pics from her Retirement Party I thought I’d show you a few of the fun gifts she got.  My mom’s birthday happened to land the day after the party so we were all celebrating Mother’s Day, her retirement and her birthday.  Time to spoil mom.  :)  A lot of her retirement gifts were so heartfelt.  The quilt, the cake, some plaques and personal signs (I need to take pics of it all next time!).  She also got a few fun things that are just SO my mom.  A few friends went in on this darling Dooney and Bourke purse for her.  I mentioned my mom loves yellow.  It was a reoccurring theme at her party!

My mom’s special day

QI1A1616cfw
Last weekend we spent in Utah celebrating my mom’s career in Education.  She is retiring after 35 years of teaching Elementary school and being an administrator over Title One.  Her friends and co-workers threw her an amazing Retirement Party (I had to share some pics!).  She wanted all of her kids and grandkids there and we wouldn’t have missed it!  Such a special day for our entire family.

My Summer Goals

{Full post on this Outdoor Entertaining area here}

Summer is just around the corner.  Can you all believe that?  I can’t believe that.  Where did the school year go!?  We spent last weekend at my mom’s house in Utah (I’ll share more about why soon) and all of the sun and outside time with family made me so excited for carefree summer days!  I was thinking a lot about this upcoming summer on our drive home.  There are three goals I want to set for myself this summer and I’m hoping that by sharing them with all of you I’ll be a bit more accountable than I otherwise would. :)  After all, January isn’t the only time we can set goals, right?  Right.

Kitchen Refresh!

Ok! Kitchen refresh take 2. :) What a week! My blog has been struggling lately but I think (I hope!) we’re up and running again. Tech issues are never fun, but the good news is that I’ll have lots to catch up on next week. :) Thank you for being patient with me! You all are the best.
kitchen refresh!Hello hello friends!  I’ve freshened up my kitchen a bit for Spring/Summer and I’m excited to share a few new additions with you all!  It’s feeling all sorts of cherry around here.  I wish so badly I could just have you all over to hang in my kitchen in person!  Wouldn’t that be so much fun to have a huge blog party!?  If everyone each brought one thing to eat we’d have food galore and I wouldn’t have to cook a thing.  My kind of party.  ;)

Technical Issues!

Hi friends!

SO sorry!  I had a post up of my kitchen refresh and I’m having some technical difficulties with the links and had to take it down to fix it!  Check back and hopefully I’ll have things working again and my post back up soon!

Technical issues!  One of my very favorite things about blogging. ;)

Friday Favorites/Fashion

spring-tablescape-11
Happy Friday everyone!  Made it through the week!  Always cause for celebration, right? :)  Sharing a few fun favorites today!  My lemons on my Spring Tablescape bit the dust.  I put half of them in my water that I drank all week and the rest wilted.  The lemons on my lemon trees aren’t ready to pick yet so I decided to buy some long term substitutes.

Picked up these cute faux lemons from World Market so I don’t have to keep replacing the lemons in my lanterns.  I think they look pretty real.  Although I asked my 12 year old if she thought they looked real and she said “they do from a distance mom, but up close they look like something my American Doll would eat.”   Well then.  There you have it.  An honest review of my new lemons.  Still keeping them. :)

Feeling overwhelmed? 5 strategies that will help!

overwhelmed---5-strategies

{office post and sources here}

Friends.. it’s May.  May!  I can’t believe this school year is already winding down.  I swear it just started!  I went on a walk with a good friend this morning and we were talking about May Madness.  We call May “the new December” because if you have school aged kids you know that it tends to be one of the busiest months of the year.  Just like the holiday season, it’s a wonderful time full of fun activities, but it can also be stressful when our to-do lists and calendars are bursting at the seams.

Naples Beach Cottage GIRLS Trip

squad-white-picket-fence
Happy Friday friends!  Sharing some pictures of my trip to Naples, Florida last weekend!  I mentioned in my last Friday Favorites post how excited I was to meet these four beautiful friends of mine in real life.  We met on Instagram.  Isn’t that crazy!?  We met on Instagram and hit it off and over the past year have become so close through IG and text messages and blog comments and phone calls.  Sometimes (often actually) we would stay up so late all texting each other back and forth that my husband would just shake his head and call it a night and go to bed without me.  :)  When Shauna invited us all to her beach cottage for a weekend we couldn’t buy plane tickets fast enough!  Before I share a peek at our trip let’s first check out her amazing vacation home in Florida.  She completely renovated this house from top to bottom and friends, it is AMAZING!

I have something new in my office.  And I’m really excited about it.  When I’m really excited about something I always want to tell all of you.  My blog friends.  So let’s do that now, shall we?  :)  You might remember from when I shared pictures of my decorated office that I had my anniversary date sign displayed on my shelves.  Love that sign!

Simple (and pretty!) Jewelry Organization

melissa's book
It’s no secret that I love having an organized home.  Along with organizing, I also love reading books that inspire me to continue to organize my home and make it a place I truly love.  When Melissa Michaels from the beloved blog, The Inspired Room, reached out to me to help share the news about her new book and join a blog organization tour, I seriously squealed out loud.  And then did a happy dance.  After I picked my jaw up off the floor.  Like many of you I’m sure, I am a huge fan of Melissa (and her books!) and I knew before I turned to page one that it would be a favorite.
