Happy Friday friends!  Yea!  The weekend is upon us.  This is the last weekend of the Nordstrom sale!  Prices go back to normal Monday, August 3rd.  My husband is so happy about that.  ;)  A couple of weeks ago I shared some of my purchases from the sale.  I’ve been wearing what I bought and loving it all!  So much that I ended up making a couple more trips to the mall.  Hence the reason my husband is over the Anniversary sale.  But I’m not so GEAR UP and grab a snack!  This post is a book.  In the picture above I’m sharing three of my favorite shoes I’ve recently purchased along with a peek of some master bedroom progress!  Slowly that space is coming together.

But that’s a post for another day.  :)

Friday Favorites – a shopping trip to World Market!

Happy Friday everyone!  I hope you all had a good week.  So excited about my Friday Favorites post today!  I decided to take you all shopping with me.  Fun, right?  Do you like to shop?  I love to shop.  I’m a good shopper.  My husband loves this about me.

One of the last three sentences might not be entirely true.  I’ll let you figure out which one.  :)

Anyway.  Like I said, I love to shop.  But I also love living in an organized home without clutter and items I don’t really love or need.  So ever since I moved into the new house and started decorating I’ve developed a new shopping method.  If I find things I really like but I’m not sure if they will fit or work or if I’ll still like them tomorrow, I just snap a picture with my phone.  Then I can go home and measure or figure out where the item would work.  If I think something will be a perfect fit, I can go back for it.  This method also helps me to know if I really love something because if I do, I keep thinking about it.  If I forget about it.. wasn’t meant to be.

Lately I have been loving World Market.  (This post isn’t sponsored by them btw – I just really love that store!)  It seems like a few years ago World Market was hit and miss for me, but lately I go in there and I want one of everything!  I have to work hard to contain myself.  On my last trip I took so many pictures that I was laughing!  I practically photographed the whole store.  I thought I’d share some of my favorite finds along with a few favorite items that I had pictures of in the past and then they eventually ended up coming home with me.  :)

The first thing I spotted was this farmhouse chalkboard.  I’m going back for this.  I LOVE the frame and I found a fun spot for it.  I keep thinking about it so I know it’s a keeper.  :)

Outdoor Pergola and Fire pit

outdoor-firepit-pergola
Hi friends!  I’m back from Atlanta!  What a beautiful city.  Haven (the DIY/home decor blog conference I attended) was incredible.  Everyone was so friendly, the classes were amazing and I especially enjoyed finally meeting friends I’ve had for years on-line!  Blogging is a wonderful thing.  :)  I’ll have to do a recap at some point but for now I’m sharing our outdoor pergola and fire pit area.  These pictures have been sitting on my computer for a few months and if I’m not careful I’ll be sharing them in December when you all want to see Christmas trees, not outdoor pillows.  :) Continue reading “Outdoor Pergola and Fire pit”

YEA!!  It’s Friday!  So excited for the weekend!  I haven’t done a Fashion Friday post in such a long time!  (You can see past Fashion Friday posts here.)  But I found some really fun things at the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale and have to share them with you!  The sale goes public today and it’s a good one this year.  I snapped this picture above a few days ago to share with you my typical wardrobe these days.  Honestly I have made a bad habit of living in workout clothes.  I exercise in the morning and then get busy and run around in gym clothes all day.  Now that things have settled down and our new house isn’t taking so much of my time I’m trying to make more of an effort to actually get dressed in something cute for the day!  You’d think that would be an easy thing..  :) Continue reading “Fashion Friday”

Letting the dishes wait

insta flowers_edited-1
I had something planned to post today but my kids had other plans for me.  Funny how that happens often.  Especially in the summer.  :)  I was cuddled up on the couch with my 11 year old tonight thinking about how quickly time is going by with her.  She’s such a mini grown up these days.  It was getting late – almost her bedtime and she wanted me to sit with her a few minutes longer.  My mind started racing.. I still need to clean the kitchen.. clean up Kole’s bath mess.. switch the laundry.. edit my pictures.. and then I stopped myself.  And just sat with her for another thirty minutes.  Watching TV and laughing and talking. Organized Medicine Cupboard

Happy Wednesday!  I hope you all had a nice 4th!  We are back from Utah and had such a fun trip (hoping to share a few pics soon).  I’m slowly trying to re-engage and get on top of things around my house.  Lots of laundry and food prep and cleaning!  It always takes me a few days after a family trip to recover.  Sometimes I feel like I need a vacation to recover from our vacation!  That’s why I call travel with kids “family trips” and not vacations.  While they are fun, you often come home more tired than you were before you left.  :) Continue reading “Organized Medicine Cupboard”

Mom’s new outdoor decor

mom-and-dad
I hope you’re all enjoying your summer so far!  We are having a fantastic week at our #1 getaway.  A place where food is bought and cooked for me, babysitting is readily available, my kids are forever content and everything in sight is a walk down memory lane.  Mom’s house.  Ahhh.  Love it here!  Isn’t my parent’s home beautiful!?  It’s just as cozy and welcoming on the inside as it is the outside.  We spend a week here every summer and aside from the dreadful heat (San Diego weather has spoiled us!) we love everything about our time here.  Yesterday my parents celebrated their 41st wedding anniversary.  41 years! Fun 4th of July ideas!

pretzel-hugs-for-the-4th-of-july
It’s the 4th of July this weekend!  So excited.  We have fun plans with family and I can’t wait to be together with everyone!  I made some 4th of July Pretzel Hugs a couple of weeks ago to get us in the mood.  Same Pretzel Hugs I’ve made for Christmas and Valentines Day for years.  I just switch out the m&m color.  Now there’s a versatile holiday treat!  :)  **Picture sources: scale is from Nordstroms – I can’t find it there anymore but their other home decor is adorable! Rolling pin is from Anthropologie, cake stand is from World Market – looks like they only have ivory left (kind of want this marble/wood stand too!). Continue reading “Fun 4th of July ideas!”
