Girls’ bathroom decor

Hello friends!  Sorry about the crickets chirping on the blog last week!  Things were a bit crazy around here finishing up the school year but I’m happy to report we made it!  Today was our first official day of summer and it was WONDERFUL.  We slept in until 7:45, didn’t get out of pajamas until around 11:00, played at the park, swam in the pool, take out for dinner.  I loved every minute of it.  I am being really selfish this week and keeping my kids all to myself.  No playdates or get togethers.  We love them, but there is plenty of time for that and more than anything I have been craving some time with just me and my three kiddos.  We have a lot of fun together when we don’t have to be anywhere doing anything other than what we want.  Imagine that.  :)

Anyway!  Lots of time for future summer ramblings!  This post is supposed to be about a touch of decor I added to my girls’ bathroom so I guess it’s time I steer back on track.  So here you have it.  A touch of decor I added to my girls’ bathroom.  See.  I can stick to the point.  :)

Final countdown!

white roses
Happy Thursday everyone!  Week is almost over and we will be down to just one more week of school left!  I’m so excited I can hardly stand it.  We are limping across the finish line around here.  I have so many fun things to share and haven’t had much time for posting lately so here are a few pics I snapped with my phone quick (some I’ve shared on Instagram).   My roses are blooming!  So fun seeing everything we planted last year popping up and looking so pretty.

Weekend Organizing

organize camera equipment
Are you organizing something this weekend?  Maybe?  Still thinking about it?  In your pajamas?  ;)  Sharing a few past organizing projects to get us all motivated!  Just spending 15-20 minutes on a space can make a huge difference.  Is your camera equipment all in one place?  I’ve loved having everything I need to take pictures all together in this pull out drawer in my office.  Makes it so easy to find what I need when I need it!  The only thing we don’t keep in this drawer is the video camera.  I like to keep it in the kitchen so we can grab it often to spontaneously film the kids doing every day things.

5 tips to manage your time better (Eat That Frog!)

Thank you so much for all of your sweet words about my Spring Home Tour!  They meant a lot to me.  I truly feel grateful every day that I have such kind, encouraging people reading my blog.  It’s a huge part of the reason I love doing this!  You all continually make my day.  :)
5-tips-to-manage-your-time-better
I’m switching gears a bit and talking time management today!  It’s honestly one of my favorite topics.  One of the best ways we can feel organized and on top of our lives is to make the most of our time.  I have to admit, that while time management is a topic that I love to learn about, I’m not always the best at managing my time.  In fact, it’s something I’ve really struggled with in the past. When you are a stay at home mom/dad it’s difficult to feel like you are getting anything done at all.  Sure I’m working hard and I’m busy.  I constantly feel busy.  But that doesn’t mean I’m always busy with the things I should be busy with.  :)  I’m spending quality time with my kids each day and making sure they are thriving in their little lives – a top priority for any good parent – but there are other things I want to get done each day and precious little time to do it!  Making each free minute count is crucial.

Spring House Tour!

Happy Memorial weekend friends!  I was asked to join 11 Magnolia Lane’s Spring House Tour!  So exciting!  I always love peeking into the beautiful homes they feature.  If you’re new to my blog hello and welcome!  I’m Erin.  I live in sunny San Diego and I’m passionate about organizing, home design/decor and being mom to my three beautiful kiddos.  I’m also passionate about cherry ice chapstick but that’s beside the point. :) My husband and I finished building our custom home about a year and a half ago.  Hard to believe it has been that long!  I have been slowly decorating the house one room at a time and love putting my stamp on the place.  Here is a tour of the rooms I have shared on my blog so far!  Some of them are ready for Spring.  Some of them are just ready for a chair.. or rug.. or anything.  Ha!  All in good time.  We are definitely a work in progress around here.  :)

A peek of part of the front of our house.  I combined everything I loved when I designed our home and it turned out “Craftsman Coastal.”  At least that’s what my architect calls it.  :)  I just added plants and spruced up the front porch for Spring!

Spring on the front porch!

spring-flowers-in-pots
What a week!  May madness is definitely in full force this year.  I feel like I’m paddling my way through it all trying to take it one day at a time.  Such a fun time of year but really!?  Do we need to have all the projects and reports and meetings and parties and ceremonies and activities and performances and showcases and open houses and recitals and gift giving in the same two weeks!?  I guess we do.  It makes sense that the end of the school year is a time to wrap things up.  But all this wrapping up is wearing me out.

So I took a 20 minute break from it all on Wednesday to add some Spring to my front porch!  And to take pictures of it all.    Because that’s what I do when I have too much going on.  I avoid everything and take pictures for the blog.  :)

Six Tips for a Smoother Summer

six tips for a smoother summer
Happy Monday friends!  As the school year is starting to wind down (woot woot!) I am beginning to think about our summer plans.  Obviously one of the nicest things about summer is NOT having a schedule, but I’ve found over the years that our summers are the most enjoyable when mom stays sane.  :)  In order for that to happen there needs to be a bit of planning and organization on my part.  Last summer I shared my SIX TIPS FOR A SMOOTHER SUMMER.  I just read that post again to help me get on track this year.  It was so helpful as a reminder to me that I thought I’d share it again with all of you.  Hoping it helps you stay sane this summer too!

Enjoy your week!

Spring in the Powder Bathroom

white-inset-cabinets
Is everyone enjoying this time of year?  I can’t get enough of all of the beautiful trees and flowers and green green grass!  Plus rain is in our forecast tomorrow!  I can’t wait.  Rain means two things.  First it’s exciting news for us since we are in a drought here in southern Cal.  We need all the rain we can get!  Second, more of my house will get organized.  I LOVE organizing when it rains.  I don’t know what it is about cool, cloudy days.  They make me want to tear my cupboards apart and label everything in sight.  So tomorrow I will be busy.  :)
